Considering that it's live game action and when you watch how much he throws that football at ease and that 49 mph is the same number Peterman threw at the combine when he had nothing else he had to think about except "Throw ball HARD!!!" This from the guy who over YEARS of posting has CONSTANTLY used the phrase "he has a cannon for an arm" in praise of numerous prospects and current NFL QBs. My how quickly we forget

https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/9/20/17868504/josh-allen-throwing-velocity-analysis-all-22-film-arm-strength "Not too long ago, we discussed throwing velocity on sideline passes. Understandably, there was some disappointment that no actual velocities were calculated. I promised to rectify that issue when All-22 angles were available. As was hopefully demonstrated before, the broadcast angles make it very difficult to determine the exact spot of the ball in many cases. Good news everyone! The All-22 is out and we can set the stage for accurate velocity determinations. Let’s select a Josh Allen play and check out the broadcast angle. This isn’t his fastest pass, but it’s a decently quick toss over the middle." … click the link to look at the rest of the article for methodology and results... but here's the ending: "What’s impressive isn’t the flat out speed, it’s more that Allen looks pretty casual about it. Most importantly, now that the methodology has been set and accuracy increased, we can look at throws as they come up. Next time a pass is coming in hot and you’re curious how fast it was, give me a shout and maybe you’ll get your answer."

9-21 Bills live McDermott presser
transplantbillsfan replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. People are fine with it when we're winning and whine about it when we're losing. I'm amazed at how off the rails people are getting after two freakin games -
Are you being serious? This is just a hypothetical, right? Personally, I think betting $5,000 on just about anything is kinda dumb. But I'm not a gambler. But in terms of this game, isn't the spread like 16.5 points? So you just bet $5,000 that the Bills would actually get worse and lose by even more to the Vikings than the Chargers? Yes, I think it was a stupid bet if it was real. McDermott should be calling the defensive plays (even if he says he's sharing those duties with Frasier), so our defense shouldn't be the sieve it was for the first 3 halves of football this season. Allen showed his teammates last week he's resilient and I think that gives the rest of the team some confidence. And shuffling Bodine in for Groy will hopefully prove to be an upgrade. It was a shaky bet, at best. I think you should have bet on your favorite team. And that's not the homer in me talking.

What is your favorite positive Peterman play?
transplantbillsfan replied to Bing Bong's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hang on. Are we limited to regular season games? I mean, he was an all star in meaningless preseason games. That's probably why so many people got suckered into thinking starting him was a good idea. If you're talking regular season meaningful games, he'd be the worst NFL starting QB I've seen in 30 years watching the NFL. -
TNF: Jets @ Browns (TT vs Darnold)
transplantbillsfan replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a game between the 2 guys I wanted most... with Mayfield ahead of Darnold for me--not that we ever had a chance to draft either guy. Taylor was particularly bad tonight--reminded me of the New Orleans game. Deserved to be replaced... though I wonder if he took himself out based on that crowd, which was inevitable sooner or later given the #1 draft pick sitting behind him. Man, Mayfield is impressive. Darnold clearly has a ton of work to do. I just hope Allen can start producing and making those quick decisions like we saw tonight from Baker. 3... probably 4 top 10 draft choices now linked together for (hopefully) the next decade PLUS. Let's just hope we have the right Josh since Mayfield and Darnold were never options. -
Not hard to come by? Really? Then why have the Bills, Jets, Dolphins, Titans, Texans, Rams, 49ers, Bucs, Bears, Vikings, Browns, Broncos, and Raiders all been teams within the last 5 years or so suffering through a cycle of annual QB change with various "journeymen" or "tentative placeholders" or "young unproven rookies" in place? Taylor was a starting QB for an NFL team 3 years in a row, now going into his 4th. That's not easy to find. So sure, SF "fell into one." But look at the vicious QB cycle that came before that for the better part of 2 decades. Viable NFL Starting QBs don't grow on trees.

Wasn't even really a question of Josh Allen or Tyrod. It was Nathan Peterman or Tyrod. It's relatively clear now that Beane and McDermott's "plan" was to have Allen sit on the bench and learn for a while. The problem is they fell victim to foolishly believing that Tyrod's "veteran presence" could be so easily replaced that they waited for the scraps of the QBs in vet FA to get AJ McCarron. And then McCarron couldn't beat out or even really play up to the level of a rookie and a 2nd year pick-machine. This very much is the same type of situation we had with Fitz. We didn't have to get rid of Fitz just like we didn't have to get rid of Taylor. But for both situations, the regimes of that time falsely viewed both Fitz and Taylor as easily replaceable. NFL starting QBs just are NOT easy to come by. And like Taylor or not, he's an NFL starting QB. Just like Fitz was and is. Hindsight is 20/20, but it's pretty evident at this point that McDermott and Beane are regretting trading Taylor when they still would have had enough ammunition to trade up to get Allen at #7 in the draft. Now, personally I'm very happy with Allen as our starter over the idea of keeping Taylor and letting Allen ride the pine, but I also think that rookie QBs have no reason NOT to be on the field starting right away if you're willing to draft them in the top 10. The rules of the NFL are now so QB friendly that I think the David Carr effect is incredibly unlikely for QBs with that genuinely Elite potential worthy of spending a top 10 draft choice. I agree with you. I'd rather see Allen on the field now with the Bills than Taylor. But that doesn't change the fact now it's clear that this was never remotely the plan and if McDermott and Beane could rewind time knowing the outcome of all events up to now and NOT trade Taylor while still drafting a QB high in the 1st, that's what they would have done.

What I'm saying is that if their plan was to draft a QB in that draft, whoever their QB may have been, the choice to draft a QB or keep Fitz weren't mutually exclusive. We could have done both. There was no reason to let Fitz go. Manuel probably never would have had it in him to be a viable NFL starting QB. He's just too emotionally and mentally frail. I agree with you there. I think Trent Edwards had a better chance to be a Franchise QB than Manuel if he didn't get knocked the !@#$ out by Adrian Wilson in Arizona. But those chances would have at least increased if he sat behind a smart, tough vet like Fitz and, at worst, we could have just kept playing Fitz.

McDermott- Highest odds to be fired..
transplantbillsfan replied to McBean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whoever said that is an idiot. -
Absolutely agree on the Fitz thing. We could and should have kept Fitz at his reasonable contract and we STILL could have drafted Manuel in the 1st. And at that point at least Manuel wouldn't have been forced to play... unless that damn mat would have just hunted Fitz down somehow the way it did Kolb. Speaking of which, that choice of Kolb was a really underwhelming vet to bring in, anyway... kinda like AJ McCarron this year
