Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread
Buffalo_Gal replied to snafu's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Holy *****, Obama really made that for Creepy Uncle Joe!! (And wow, knowing what we do now, that is some prophetic word choice.) </snip> The president also taught us what true #friendshipgoals look like in the White House by making a friendship bracelet for his partner in crime, Vice President Joe Biden. “That stuff’s hard,” Obama concluded in the video for BuzzFeed, which has partnered with a nonprofit, nonpartisan app called TurboVote to help make the voter registration process smooth sailing. “But you know what isn’t? Registering to vote. I hope you all understand that you have the power to shape our country’s course. Don’t take that for granted.” “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a meeting with my vice president,” Obama added, proudly holding up a friendship bracelet with the name “Joe” on it. -

What are you talking about? Mexico played Trump!!!! They promised they'd do this already, dontchya know??? Trump got nuthin'!! Oh, and #OrangeManBad How'd I do? ? All I know is every article about Mexico, illegals, the Trump Administration's negotiations with Mexico, etc are off my newsfeed at the moment, so he musta done somethin' right. If it really had been a loss for President Trump my newsfeed would be filled with articles on how stupid he, and his administration, are and that they ***** up yet again. And speaking of which... I cannot believe the amount of people who still think President Trump - a businessman who has lived to negotiate these past 50 years - it a dope. Simply baffling to me. -

People have been wondering who is behind the caravans for a while now. Do you think this "church" is the front man, the money, or in bed with the cartels (so both)? -

i do not know if anyone has been following the Gibson Bakery trial, but legal insurrection has all the details (they has someone reporting throughout the trial). Anyhoooo jury found for the bakery and against the college to the tune of $11M. </snip> According to our reporter in the Courtroom, the jury awarded $11 million. Here are the details: Allyn W. Gibson awarded $3 million, David Gibson $5.8 million, Gibson Bros. $2,274,500. Next Tuesday there will be a separate punitive damages which could be a double award (meaning tripling the $11 million to $33 million). </snip> -

I've said it before and I will say it again... Mueller is a piece of *****. Yeah, yeah, Weissmann, but Mueller allowed it. -
You are correct (in regards to selling). I know a lot of people that stopped selling anything directly in the EU due to the stricter privacy concerns implemented last year (or was it 2016?).

I am not an economist, but some of the stuff that was allowed to happen the last 50 years with jobs is somewhat a national security issue. Steel mills, rare earth refinery, rubber plants, etc. We should have at least one of XYZ plants simply to make certain we as a nation are not completely dependent on a foreign country (friend or foe) for that XYZ in case of war, trade war, etc. IOW, these "dying industries" may still be productive and necessary, but not currently producing in the United States (that green-stupidity scam of the last 20 years put a real dent in some of our natural resource refineries, etc) due to economics (political or bottom line). While I do not want the government involved in any of those plants and productions (because big government is bad, IMO), I do think tax incentives could make those industries lucrative, and make us safer as a country, and less at the mercy to foreign bodies. Note, out of work programmers are called freelancers. They can find ad hoc work, or produce a new product independently so Google will buy it to stifle competition, anywhere. The EU of the last 15 years is the last place I would want the United States to emulate. Allowing uneducated, third world fanatics to come over and take over your country simply so you can have a younger base of people to pay for the older citizen's socialist welfare payments in their old age, has proven more problematic than a solution. They have cost more than they have produced. So much for that plan. The privacy you are speaking of is basically a pop-up (EU cookie consent) to tell the people in the EU that they are being tracked. Click no, and you don't see the content. Hint: everyone clicks "yes". I didn't read through the entire discussion above. These thoughts are just my response to your response and have no bearing on what was discussed prior. ?

Her ex was a judge. That could be the reason everything was sealed up tight as soon as her identity was known. (Not saying this article isn't true, but because of who she was and who her ex husband is, investigators may have decided to tread lightly.) Article link </snip> Officials said Wednesday that because of the condition of the body, they were unable to immediately confirm its identity. State police didn't say when Collins-Smith died . According to property records, Collins-Smith's home is also owned by her ex-husband, Philip Smith, a retired judge whose district covered Randolph County. The couple separated in 2016 and finalized their divorce last year, according to court records. Divorce documents showed disputes over a large sum of money and property the couple owned, including their home and a hotel. They married in 1995 and have two adult children. On Wednesday, Circuit Judge Harold Erwin signed a gag order sealing the release of information in the investigation, including law enforcement and medical reports. </snip> -
Trump foreign policy

US hits Iran with new sanctions; petrochemicals targeted The Trump administration is hitting Iran with new sanctions that target its largest petrochemical company for providing support to the Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Treasury Department says the sanctions will apply to the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and 39 of its subsidiaries and foreign sales agents. It says the company holds 40% of Iran's petrochemical production capacity and is responsible for 50% of the country's petrochemical exports. Treasury says the companies have done billions of dollars of business with the Guard Corps, which the administration designated a "foreign terrorist organization" last month. </snip> -
I'll say it again, you have the patience of a saint.

Well, that'll be dropped as a topic but fast. -
I said the same thing to my husband this morning - are we approaching peak employment for those that want to (are able) to work? I always heard it was 5%, and it seems to be 7.1% now, so ?♀️ I'm not a finance person, he is, and he didn't throw up all over that thought.

True the Vote Wins Battle Against IRS as Judge Orders Tax Agency to Pay Legal Fees in Decade-Long Fight True the Vote, a nonpartisan conservative election integrity group that fought a nearly decade-long battle with the IRS and other federal agencies that unfairly targeted the group, has won a major decision in federal court and shall be awarded maximum attorney fees. “This is a huge victory for every American who thinks that they can’t go up against the government and get what they deserve,” Catherine Engelbrecht, True the Vote’s founder, told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview ahead of the group’s public announcement of the victory. “This is an opportunity to make very clear that we didn’t back away and, therefore, American citizens didn’t back away—and we won.” </snip> U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton ruled in favor of True the Vote in the case, and penalized the IRS for forcing the tax agency to pay maximum attorney’s fees due to the IRS’s discrimination against the conservative organization that stemmed from the Lois Lerner scandal during the Barack Obama administration all the way back in 2010. In addition to signing a 2018 consent order that included an IRS admission of wrongdoing, Judge Walton ruled last week that True the Vote was entitled to a “bad faith enhancement” to its requested attorney’s fees. In his opinion, Judge Walton wrote that there is “clear and convincing evidence necessary for a finding of bad faith on the part of” the IRS. As such, while the exact amount is still being worked out, True the Vote has requested the recovery of $1.9 million in attorney’s fees from the decades-long court battle. </snip>

Ok, so last month was revised up 50K,, still below expectations. March and April revised down after being revised up after being released much lower than the actual numbers. What is going on? Jobs creation slows dramatically with payrolls up just 75,000 in May, much worse than expected * Nonfarm payrolls for May increased up by just 75,000, the Labor Department says. * Economists surveyed by Dow Jones expected a gain of 180,000. * March’s job count was revised lower from 189,000 to 153,000 and the April number was lowered to 224,000 from 263,000, for a total reduction of 75,000. * The unemployment rate remained at a 50-year low of 3.6%. </snip> Friday’s Bureau of Labor Services reading added to worries that employment growth is slowing. A report Wednesday from ADP and Moody’s Analytics raised fears even more as it said private payrolls increased by just 27,000. The BLS showed private payrolls up 90,000, while government jobs fell by 15,000. </snip> </snip> * Average hourly earnings year over year in May were up 3.1%, one-tenth of a point lower than expectations. As with most jobs reports, there were nuggets good and bad to take from the details. One example was the U6 rate - considered the broadest measure of unemployment - that dropped to 7.1 percent, the lowest point since December of 2000. </snip>
