  1. It was a special interview set up with a census taker, not a dropped off form. They left notes on the door to schedule an appointment (which I ignored ? ). She finally caught up to me one day, and I wasn't quick enough to think of an excuse. I shoulda never answered the damned door. I wonder if she'd have given up after a third note? I have no idea how many times she actually tried to contact us before the notes started. It could have been a note left on each try, or after 10 tries... I never thought to ask. We never answered the home phone, and now we no longer have a landline, so this time (if there is a "this time") I will be more stealth!
  2. I don't really believe in a lot of woo-woo, but this is one where the evidence keeps mounting that it is a real thing.
  3. UK ambassador to US who criticized Trump resigns, British Foreign Office says </snip> In a resignation letter on Wednesday, Darroch said "the current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like." “Although my posting is not due to end until the end of this year, I believe in the current circumstances the responsible course is to allow the appointment of a new ambassador," he wrote, noting the situation "has brought home to me the depth of friendship and close ties between our two countries." </snip>
  4. I assume he has enough money and doesn't need anymore work in Hollywood:
  5. Looks like no one reads the NYT either, including their staff:
  6. The last census we had to be interviewed. They had a very long form and asked tons of questions to the point where it was very intrusive. If they knocked for the same thing this time, I'd say I was heading out the door for a flight and would not be back for six months (last time I avoided them twice, but the third time was a "charm").
  7. Biden earned more than $15 million after leaving White House Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, took in more than $15 million since leaving the Obama White House, according to documents released Tuesday, catapulting the Democratic presidential candidate into millionaire status and denting the working-class aura he’s developed over decades. </snip> Since leaving the White House, Biden and his wife signed a multibook deal with Flatiron Books valued at $8 million, according to Publishers Weekly. Biden’s first book, an account of his son Beau’s death from cancer, briefly topped bestseller lists in 2017. He and his wife have also worked on two other book projects. Biden earned $540,000 as a professor and namesake of the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. Jill Biden made at least $700,000 in her own speaking engagements, the disclosure shows. Joe Biden’s basic speaking fee was reportedly $100,000 a speech, but his disclosure showed that while some appearances were priced as low as the $40,000 range, others ranged as high as $190,000 for a lecture at Drew University in New Jersey. Biden’s last financial disclosure, filed in 2016 during his final year as vice president, showed that even after eight years at his $230,000-a-year government salary, Biden held significant personal debt. The 2016 disclosure revealed financial assets worth more than $273,000— including a $150,000 rental property — and more than $750,000 in debt. Those liabilities included a recent mortgage worth more than $500,000 on the rental property and a recent $250,000 home equity loan. </snip>
  8. I'm pretty sure Twitter is gonna hate that Trump court ruling...
  9. Could you imagine what George Carlin would have done with the last 10 years in his routines? Well, assuming the SJWs wouldn't have driven him off the stage, that is.
  10. Couple of interesting little threads about General Flynn: And Margot Cleveland follows with a law explanation:
  11. No one said these people were bright. They get worked up over everything and anything... the perpetually aggrieved. Must be exhausting.
  12. And boy was he right.
  13. On his Presidential account? I agree. On his personal account? Hmmm not so sure about that. This is bad news for a lot of elected officials if it stands. I am not certain why verbal abuse, death threats, and general nasty manners needs to be tolerated by public officials on a social media platform, but if President Trump cannot block, that means the rest of them cannot block either. And, does this now mean that that social media is now subject to "free speech" as a private business? If so, whoa. No more banning, shadow banning, etc.
  14. This made me laugh. You can't boycott everyone.
