  1. Updated numbers for Q2: </snip> Despite the resilience consumers are showing, the overall economic picture is weakening. The gross domestic product, the broadest gauge of economic health, advanced at a moderate 2% annual rate in the April-June quarter, the government said Thursday, down from a 3.1% gain in the first quarter. Thursday's revised figure for last quarter was slightly lower than the government's initial estimate of 2.1% annual growth. </snip> The biggest factor in the government's downward revision for the April-June quarter was a smaller gain in spending by state and local governments and fewer export sales. American exports have been hurt by the retaliatory tariffs China and other countries have imposed on U.S. soybeans and other products. That drop was offset by the increase in consumer spending to a rate of 4.7%, up from an initial estimate of 4.3%. </snip> A survey last week found that 74% of business economists now believe a new recession will begin by the end of 2021 with 38% saying the downturn will start even sooner, in 2020. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Analytics, said he is not forecasting a recession in the next 18 months but he said one can't be ruled out with the greatest risk coming from Trump's trade war with China. </snip>
  2. Things are getting chippy in NYC:
  3. Or it could be that the little she has said about Brexit over the last few years has indicated she is for it? ?‍♀️ If there is a video, doesn't mean she will not try and protect her son (and the royal family), however.
  4. What's this? FBI Vault It seems it is dealing with IP rights, but all the redactions? And the employee handbook?
  5. I can't stand the Beatles. Overrated x a million
  6. It's been this way for a while. My son is not long out of school (because he went f-o-r-e-v-e-r) and I remember him telling me during his first masters (did I mention he went to school f-o-r-e-v-e-r?) he was writing for a grade, not for what he really thought. He ain't a liberal, so he knew he couldn't speak freely. That is sad, but by that point he was looking at school as a business transaction, not a learning experience.
  7. Too bad the FEC will not have enough commissioners to call a meeting as of August 31st. Convenient that. I doubt this person ever pays for any of her misdeeds. Ilhan Omar Illegally Diverted Campaign Funds To Pursue Romantic Affair, Complaint Alleges * Rep. Ilhan Omar used campaign funds to fund her affair with married Democratic consultant Tim Mynett, according to a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint filed by the conservative National Legal and Policy Center. * Omar’s campaign beggan funding travel for Tim Mynett’s company less than a week before the Democratic consultant confessed to his wife he was having an affair with the congresswoman, Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett said in a divorce filing Tuesday. * Omar and Tim Mynett have been pictured together at multiple events, including a late-March CAIR fundraiser in which Omar described the 9/11 terror attacks as “some people did something.” </snip>
  8. How about politicians and an un-elected political class trying to dismiss and subvert the will of the voters?
  9. If you aren't sure you like grits... if you are in northern Florida, go to Harry's and get the sweet corn grits (not their grit cakes). I've never had anything like 'em. I have urged people who "hate grits" to try them as comfort food, and to a person they've all changed their anti-grits stance.
  10. heh Boris ain't playin'. And, a no confidence vote after just a few weeks in office? Trump 2.0 - this isn't gonna be just the crazy-hair that they have in common.
