https://mobile.twitter.com/seanmdav/status/1171878950991204358 In a new filing requesting contempt findings against the Special Counsel’s office for allegedly suppressing evidence of Mike Flynn’s innocence, Flynn’s lawyer drops a bomb suggesting that Joseph Mifsud was spying on Flynn for the FBI in 2015. "I think we can see where this is going" ... I can't. Is he going to continue with his plea in order to sue the Mueller team? Will the government drop all charges? (Can they?) Will the government now recommend jail time since Flynn didn't roll over like a good boy? What (if anything) happens to the prosecutors for not handing over the material? Where is this going next?

Democratic 2020 Presidential Primary Thread

There are a lot of people hoping Biden is the candidate. They can continue to try and cover his heath issues (the MSM was pretty effective in doing so with Hillary), but with so many getting their "news" elsewhere, it may not work this time. Biden's gaffes seem to be early stage dementia at this point. A total clampdown... gonna be tough. And, Joey-B is the very definition of a long term politician. 50 years and what? Gun-free zones were his big policy aka shooting fish in a barrel. He definitely has political scandals. China and the Ukraine (where he is on tape admitting to his duplicity!) would make great TV ads. His son very well could be indicted. I have long thought he is in this specifically to scream "political prosecution" if it happens, and is running to try and prevent that. There are a number of liberals posting in this sub-forum. There are even more political-mutts, myself included, who do not subscribe to any one political ideology. -
I want them to win. IF they lose, I want it to not be badly - a fluke play is one thing, being crushed by the Jets is quite another.

I WISH Obama had been even a semi decent negotiator instead of an extreme capitulator. -

Well, this is all over the place today. Trial balloon? Lizzy is now the sacrificial candidate? What not to do to win the presidency? Warren and Clinton talk behind the scenes as 2020 race intensifies Analysis: Neither camp wants to talk about it, but the two women have recently grown closer. Elizabeth Warren's team doesn't want to talk about Hillary Clinton, but that doesn't mean the 2020 presidential candidate isn't talking with her party's 2016 nominee. The two women have kept a line of communication open since the Massachusetts senator decided to run for president — though only a conversation around the time of Warren's launch has been previously reported — according to several people familiar with their discussions who spoke to NBC on the condition of anonymity because of the political sensitivity of private interactions. </snip> -
Bloomberg article on the future of The Athletic

I signed up for the Athletic as soon as we quit the Buffalo News. The sports section of the News was all I was reading by that point, so I was happy to find something to fill in the sports-blanks. -

Powell says the Fed is not forecasting or expecting a recession </snip> Speaking during a forum in Zurich, the central bank leader gave mostly positive reviews to where the U.S. stands now, even while much of the rest of the world weakens. “The Fed has through the course of the year seen fit to lower the expected path of interest rates,” he said. “That has supported the economy. That is one of the reasons why the outlook is still a favorable one.” </snip>

Now do washing machines! And shower-heads! And real flush toilets! Making Dishwashers Great Again The faster we can clean up our dishes and our federal regulations, the better. </snip> In my think-tank work in Washington, D.C., I witness the ongoing, heroic battles of Trump appointees trying to tame the weeds of the thoroughly entangled bureaucracy. So much time and so much work is required to make even the smallest progress in rolling back the behemoth. Right now, for example, the rule solving the dishwasher crisis is opening for comment. Back in the 1970s and 80s dishwashers were an efficient product, cleaning the vestiges of last night’s dinner party off dishes and silverware in under an hour. Then regulations began, demanding less water be used, then less and less. The regulation specifically included a clause saying no later administration could roll it back. </snip> Here is the solution they came up with to try and outmaneuver the strictures of Bizarro World. First they ascertained that there were none of the old, fast washers in stock at any of the American manufacturers. Since there weren’t, they could now be reinvented. So the rule, now being moved through the comment process, says as follows: a new category will be recognized, under the heading “Fast Dishwashers,” defined as machines capable of completing a washing cycle in under 60 minutes. </snip> -

Meh, not a Dem but there isn't an Independent thread and I don't want to start a new thread, sooooo... sharing the good news here. Howard Schultz drops plans to run as independent candidate in 2020 Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz won't run for president in 2020, ending his exploration of an independent run against President Donald Trump. "My belief in the need to reform our two-party system has not wavered, but I have concluded that an independent campaign for the White House is not how I can best serve our country at this time," Schultz said in a letter posted to his website on Friday. </snip> -
Ummm is this some Hollywood insider stuff? I know who Jim Carrey is having seen one of his movies, but I have no idea if what you wrote is common knowledge. In any event... yikes.

"Trump loyalists"? I think you mean "Recession cheerleaders who hate President Trump so much, they will cheer to see their neighbors out of work and on public assistance" versus those who like the economic good times.
