  1. Ravens let Smokey Brown go because Jackson couldn't get him the ball. Then they draft Hollywood Brown to do what Smokey Brown did...except, again, Jackson couldn't get the FIRST Brown the ball, so... Spinning their wheels.
  2. Seattle will trade one of their 1st round picks. They LOVE trading down into the 2nd and saving a little coin. Will Bills be the team to trade with them? Jawaan Taylor? DK Metcalf?
  3. Texans drafting Tytus Howard is what "drafting for need" looks like in action. Eagles jumped them for Dillard. They knew they NEEDED a tackle, and were forced to reach for Howard. Falcons drafting Chris Lindstrom is what sticking to BPA looks like in action. Dolphins took Christian Wilkins from them, so they stuck to their board and didn't panic.
  4. Just wanted to say that I legitimately miss Mike Mayock on the NFL Network Draft Coverage. No one else they have is as good or as knowledgeable as him. ...On the other hand, thanks to Mike Mayock the GM for taking Clelin Ferrell, a move without which the Bills would not have been able to get Ed Oliver.
  5. Me too. I was already doing the old familiar thing of consoling myself ahead of time, setting myself up emotionally by talking myself into Jonah or Wilkins. So glad Ed Oliver fall. Still can't believe it. GRUDEN!
  6. I just pulled up NFL.Com's draft profile of Ed Oliver. These are literally the first words in it, and I'm not making this up: "Twitched up ball of explosive fury" Yesssssssssss!!!
  7. I don't think you understand how odds work. If there were literal odds on how successful each draftable DT's career will be (maybe there are? Bovada.com maybe?) in the NFL, I would be willing to bet that Quinnen Williams has the best odds, from an actual, literal betting perspective. It's why he's going to be a top 5 pick. It's why he's considered possibly the best player in the class. Mind you, I'm not arguing for them making this move. I don't necessarily want them to. But you're going a bit overboard in your preemptive griping, in my opinion.
  8. The only thing crazier to me than this notion of a trade-up to 3 is people already saying it would wind up getting Beane fired. Can we at least see the kid play a down in the NFL first? Not all trade-ups wind up poorly. I get that people are burned by Sammy Watkins, but that's not always how these things end. Just off the top of my head, the Falcons traded way up into the top 5 for Julio Jones and I doubt they regret it one bit. They've had a killer offense and a Super Bowl trip during Jones' tenure. Not saying I'm for this move, but people need to climb down off the ledge a bit here.
  9. Let me just say one thing: If the Bills DO trade up for Quinnen Williams and he winds up turning into a beast, like Aaron Donald 2.0 and launches the Bills defense into another stratosphere, we better keep receipts on all the people already pre-emptively calling to fire Beane in this thread. No Quinnen Williams jerseys for ANY of you chumps!
  10. When you say "long history of bad moves", I assume you mean moves made by PREVIOUS GMs? The list of bad moves by Beane, while it does have some notable inclusions (*cough* PETERMAN *cough*) isn't so long.
  11. Cool beans! Good talk.
  12. I'll take the word of an actual NFL defender and the Bills' defensive rankings over the analytics wizards over at Profootballfocus. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2019/01/bills-lorenzo-alexander-says-star-lotulelei-earned-every-bit-of-big-contract.html Buffalo linebacker Lorenzo Alexander, who called Lotulelei “disruptive,” said that the former Panthers tackle was well worth it and is going to be a staple on the team for years to come. “Obviously he (doesn’t play) a sexy position, but he allows other people around him to make plays,” Alexander said. “I’ve definitely been able to have a pretty good year this year. A lot of it is contributed to what he’s been able to do as far as keeping guys off me, allowing me to run free. “In the pass rush, people can’t step up. On first or second down I know a couple of guys that have gotten sacks throughout the year just because Star has gotten that great push. He’s earned every bit of what he’s got with that five-year deal.” It’s hard to argue with the results that the Bills defense had this season, finishing the year ranked second in the NFL in total defense and No. 1 in pass defense.
  13. Every time Schopp gets brought up, it reminds me of the old quote about Howard Stern. "People who DISlike him are actually MORE likely to listen to him for longer!" "Why?" "Most common answer given? Because they want to see what he'll say next." Want to know how Schopp still has a job, despite so many people universally agreeing that he's the worst? Because people keep tuning in.
  14. Nah, he's right.
  15. LOL! If the asking price truly is 9, 40, a 4th rounder, AND next year's 1st? I can guarantee Beane won't make that deal. Two 1sts, a 2nd, and a 4th? C'mon, man!
  16. One thing I have learned from this thread: Trading up for anyone other than a QB really pisses a lot of Bills fans off.
  17. In fairness, you said just today that McDermott's defensive scheme "does not call for penetrating tackles", so maybe your understanding of what's needed for defensive success for this team is less than exemplary.
  18. Right, but... If offensive line is a big need of yours ALREADY...why help a division rival draft Quinnen freaking Williams?! And if they need pass rushers, why trade out of a spot that could net them Josh freaking Allen?! You seein' what I'm gettin' at here?!
  19. This just doesn't make sense. Why would the Bills help the division rival Jets accumulate more draft picks? Why would the Jets help the division rival Bills get a blue chip QB destroyer? It doesn't add up.
  20. This is 100% false. His defense absolutely depends on having a playmaking, penetrating 3-technique DT in the fold.
  21. There is no universe in which this is all it would cost.
  22. I can't wrap my ahead around how this would work. Giving up next year's 1st? Seems unlikely. Giving up this year's 2nd and 3rd (which might still not even be enough, points wise)? Seems unlikely. I don't see a division rival helping us to get Quinnen Williams. I don't see US helping a division rival to get a bunch of extra draft picks. LaConjecture strikes again.
  23. This. Except I wouldn't say it's quite a "sick" feeling, since we DO need both a DT and some more protection for Allen. Also, the trenches are said to be pretty bereft in next year's draft, while the skill positions are said to have a lot of good prospects. If this is true, then it makes sense to stock up the trenches THIS year and let next year be a "skill position" year. I'm mentally preparing myself for the Bills pick to be very "un-sexy".
  24. With pick #44, the Green Bay Packer select WR Parris Campbell, Ohio State
  25. If we could send them a mid-roundish pick for Thomas, it would be AWESOME. It would solve our 3T problem right out of the gate, leaving our two picks available for other positions. Please let this happen!
