  1. It was literally the most kicks ever missed in week 1 of an NFL season. But hey...let's panic and cut the kid after one game.
  2. Yeah...can you explain what it was about his interview that leads you to that conclusion?
  3. I didn't say he knows NOTHING about football. There's a difference between understanding and enjoying football as spectator or fan and understanding it on a deep enough level to be able to analyze coach's tape. As far as expecting it to be "authoritative"...Joe B gets paid for this. The assumption from the reader would therefore likely be that he knows what he's looking at and is some sort of expert. People are perhaps taking my question to mean more than it does. As I said, I like Joe B and I pay for a subscription to The Athletic. I was simply asking what makes his opinion of the All-22 worth any more than, say, mine or ScottLaw's?
  4. I mean this as no disrespect to Joe Buscaglia, but... What qualifies him to grade All-22 footage? For what reason should we believe that he knows what he's looking at? As far as I know, he never played or coached college football and never took any scouting courses. He's a journalist. He writes and broadcasts for a living. That's an entirely different skillset than analyzing and understanding coach's tape. If someone knows something I don't, please pass it along. I like Joe B well enough, but I don't get the sense that he understands the nuances of what he's looking at the way that, say even the Cover 1 crew do.
  5. Fair. Also, even though he says that his praise of Ford isn't confirmation bias, it's hard to entirely believe that. He has been banging the "play Ford at guard" drum loudly four over a year. Of COURSE he's going to be looking more for the good than the bad in Ford's play in order to validate his narrative. That said, I am encouraged about Darryl Williams. Even "consistent league average" level play at right tackle would be a good thing for this offensive line.
  6. Myles Gaskin about to have a great week for fantasy owners.
  7. Burrow looked good for a rookie, especially on a short week. I don't know that he flashed one single "special" play the past two weeks, though. Something that makes you sit up and go "Wow! Not many guys could do that!". Ya know who DOES make me feel that way on a weekly basis? Joshua Allen.
  8. He doesn’t play on special teams. The Bills only dress three running backs every week, and Taiwan Jones is a core special trainer. If Singletary or Moss get injured, you’ll see Yeldon suit up. If they don’t, you won’t. Simple.
  9. Thanks for the well wishes. Rain in the forecast tonight. Brighter days ahead.
  10. Thanks sincerely for the compliment and the well wishes. The air is improving here even as we speak. We're all the way down to the "unhealthy" level! That's quite the improvement from "Beyond Index". I'll take it.
  11. https://theathletic.com/2074936/2020/09/17/bills-all-22-review-why-josh-allen-was-so-dynamic-and-full-of-progress-vs-jets/ In Joe Buscaglia's All-22 Review of Sunday's game, he seems to disagree with those on here who said the right side of the line didn't play well. He has high praise for both Ford and Williams: Almost one year after his last guard stint, Ford turned in one of his best performances as a pro. It’s not a case of confirmation bias, either. Ford played with power in the run game, he controlled defenders in pass protection and, best yet, he didn’t have to worry about the speed threat to the outside of him. It wasn’t a perfect game for Ford, as he had a few bad reps that led to some negative plays. However, that’s probably more to do with rust on the interior than it is his playing ability. Ford flashed massive potential against a good Jets defensive line. He was more impressive and more comfortable in one start at guard than he ever was at right tackle last year. As long as this level of play continues, the Bills should keep their second-year player at right guard — even when Jon Feliciano is healthy. However, the real revelation was Williams. I’ll admit, I was not optimistic about Williams’ chances. Last year in Carolina, he looked heavy-footed and unbalanced and seemed like his best days were past him. While it isn’t time to call it a full-fledged comeback just yet, Williams was easily the most impressive Bills player on Sunday outside of Allen. He was impenetrable in the first half and easily engulfed pass-rushing attempts. His foot quickness wasn’t even close to an issue, as he always looked in control. Williams packed a punch and knocked a couple of defenders off balance when chipping in on a combination block on running plays. He could also move the defender the way he wanted to open up running lanes. However, it’s wise to show a little more caution with Williams than Ford because of the competition. The Jets’ interior defensive line is a strength, so Ford’s performance is impressive, but the Jets don’t have quality edge rushers, which could have influenced Williams’ performance. Regardless, his showing was so good that fans should be optimistic about what he’ll do against better pass rushers in Miami. If Williams keeps up this level of play, the Bills would have no reason to change the offensive line’s right side at all. If that were the case, Feliciano’s potential spot on the offensive line could be at left guard and replace the usual average performing Quinton Spain.
  12. I wrote an article for Medium about spending this week breathing in the worst air in America. Read it if you like. Or do not. I am not a beggar. https://medium.com/@matthewrule23/burning-eyes-and-existential-dread-319cc8ee33c2
  13. This is what's so great about having a quality GM who drafts good players and builds depth: Even IF Brown misses the game, the Bills will be fine. Gabriel Davis and Duke Williams could step in and get us through a week. Brown would be a big loss, no doubt. I certainly hope the injury is minor. If he does miss time, though, it's not going to completely sink the offense.
  14. Muskets. High noon at Hammer's Lot.
  15. It took me a minute to come around on Edmunds' number. Ultimately, it came down to two things. One, Edmunds is halfway between a LB and a DB anyway, so a number in the 40s actually sort of makes sense. Two, if Edmunds turns out to be a great player, he can sort of "own" 49 as a jersey number. For me, when a player is sufficiently great, he's the first person I think of when I hear a certain jersey number. 80 is Rice. 83 is Reed. 7 is Elway, 4 is Favre, and so on. Edmunds could be the greatest 49 to ever play. As for best numbers by position, I'm in agreement on all but the following. We're probably going to have to settle this with a duel. Contrary opinions are not allowed. QB: 12 FB: 40 TE: 89 CB: 24 (did you really say 31, you wreckless lunatic?!?!) S: 31, 39
  16. Jersey numbers are very important. It's not just WRs, either. Josh Allen is doing as well as he is so far because he chose 17, which is objectively the correct number for him. Had he chosen, say, 6? Woof. Jake Fromm's career, actually, is over before it began, because he's wearing 10 instead of 5. The only man to buck this trend is DT Justin Zimmer. Despite wearing 61, which is the worst number a defensive lineman could possibly wear, he played well against the Jets and had a big TFL. Rare stuff, though.
  17. This can't be true. I was told by Twitter he was "funny bad" on Sunday. He overthrew Brown in the end zone, underthrew Beasley in the slot, and fumbled twice. As far as I know, those were the only plays in which Joshua Allen participated.
  18. Same. In 87, he was gonna have a great career. 16, though? Forget it.
  19. While the Bills "should" win this game and, frankly, NEED to win this game, given how tough the schedule gets afterwards... It's not going to be a gimme. I refuse to believe that any Ryan Fitzpatrick quarterbacked team will ever definitely be an easy out. Everyone on here should know by now that on any given day, Fitzpatrick can either throw four interceptions or four touchdowns. I was at Bills Stadium last year when Tre White's diving goal line interception saved the game for the Bills. Until that moment, there was a very real possibility the Bills were going to lose that game. Yes, I believe the Bills have gotten better and yes, I know Josh Allen tends to have good production against them. Still...I've seen The Fitzpatrick Show one too many times to count this game as an easy win.
  20. This is the absolute, bar none, best and most honest thing I have ever read in this series:
  21. I'd have to watch the All-22 to verify this, but it seemed like Knox was used in the backfield as a blocker quite a bit yesterday. The gameplan had more 10 personnel than I would have expected, and when Knox WAS in, he was often motioned into the backfield as a blocker. The Bills seemed to say "we don't think your corners can cover our wide receivers". I think they felt that was the better matchup than, say, Knox against Marcus Maye. I like Knox a lot and think he can be a top 10 TE in this league, so it will be interesting to see how the Bills use him going forward.
  22. The best parts came at the end. Devin saying "I'm gonna run a go route" when they're lining up in victory formation. Tre Day pushing Singletary away from Gore. Lastly, it's so awesome to see the friendship and respect between Gore and Singletary. Having Gore here just for one season to mentor Singletary was a really, really great thing.
