  1. Fair enough. When predicting game outcomes, I look at specific matchups. To me, Higbee/Kupp vs Bills defense without Edmunds/Milano (if they miss another game) is a scary matchup. Also, the way to beat the Rams is to limit the run and not be as susceptible to play-action. Their whole passing game seems to be built off of play-action and run game success. If Edmunds and Milano are out, I see the Bills struggling to stop the run and, thus, struggling to contain play-action. Furthermore, we just saw Mike Gesicki tear up our defense. Tyler Higbee is every bit as good as Gesicki. Put a different way: the Bills defense was mostly unable to stop the Dolphins offense. The Rams offense is superior. The Bills just beat the Dolphins by 3 points. The Rams are vastly superior to the Dolphins as a team. I still see something like 10-12 wins for the Bills, I just don't think this will be one of them.
  2. I predict a loss this Sunday. The Bills are good, and I believe they will make the playoffs, but this is not a good matchup. Cooper Kupp and Tyler Higbee are gonna have monster games if Edmunds and Milano aren't back. Aditionally, the Rams have a killer play-action game, which further highlights the linebacker/middle of the field deficiencies the Bills are currently experiencing. If the stadium was packed with Bills fans, it might be a different story. On what is essentially a level playing field, though? I expect a high scoring shootout and a loss for the Bills. Something like 34-27 Rams. It's fine. If you're going to lose, it's always best to lose to NFC opponents. The swing of tough AFC opponents coming up after the Rams game is much more important. Hopefully Milano and Edmunds are back for that.
  3. The thing that encouraged me the most yesterday, by far, is that Allen won entirely as a passer. I believe he had one five-yard run, and that was about it. He won from the pocket, he won from outside the pocket. He won against pressure, he won against 7 and 8 man drops. He threw with touch, he threw with accuracy. Most importantly of all, he won as a passer. It was the first game that I can ever really remember from Allen where a huge part of his production wasn't from running or making crazy Josh Allen Experience plays. He just threw it all over the yard to the tune of 400 and 4. Love it.
  4. I understand the notion, but I disagree that it’s necessary to run more than the Bills currently are. Run PRODUCTION is important, and as you pointed out, they were at over 5 yards a pop yesterday. Run VOLUME matters less to me. As long as they’re producing yards and points, I don’t care how they do it.
  5. So much for Sean McDermott being a "conservative coach who wants to win low scoring defensive struggles". 🙄
  6. Bills won, Allen arrived as a franchise QB, Diggs on pace to have 6,000 yards receiving by December, both my fantasy teams won, the Patriots lost, and the Bills are first place in the AFC East. Not a bad day.
  7. In the top 5 in the league in a few key categories: Yards, Touchdowns, Passer Rating. Top 10 in completion percentage. Not bad.
  8. Yep. Over 70% completion, 700 yards, 6 TDs, no INTs through two weeks. Came up big in the 4th quarter (nothing new for him). On pace to throw 48 TDs. I don't think he'll actually hit that number but...wow. The way he played all game today -- and especially in the 4th quarter -- has convinced me that he's a franchise guy. Scary thing is, I still don't think he's reached his ceiling.
  9. After today's game, I'm ready to say it for the first time: Josh Allen is officially a franchise quarterback. Pick up his option, pay him, buy his jersey in every color, whatever. Franchise.
  10. I'm willing to say something today that, until today's performance, I was not fully convinced of. Josh Allen is officially a franchise quarterback.
  11. I assume it will be QB coach Ken Dorsey.
  12. It's already been said, but I think the heat/humidity played a large role in this. They were rotating the big boys at guard.
  13. Shut your dirty mouth.
  14. Bills 27 Dolphins 21
  15. I feel the Bills are not certain that they have a good backup center on the roster. Once Feliciano returns, they’ll be fine there. In the meantime, cheap veteran insurance policies with starting experience are never a bad thing.
  16. “At first, I really couldn’t believe it,” Darnold told Cimini. “For the last 2½ years, for lack of a better term, he’s been kind of like an older brother to me, showing me the ropes. It’s been fun, man, watching him come to work every day. He works harder than anyone I know. … Jon is an incredible human being, a great leader and a great friend. He understands how much of a business football is. That’s how we both have to look at it, but it does suck.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/jetswire.usatoday.com/2020/09/07/sam-darnold-caught-off-guard-jonotthan-harrison-release-new-york-jets/amp/ Sounds like he’ll fit in quite well in McProcessville.
  17. Awesome. Can never accuse Brandon Beane of not understanding the importance of the offensive line.
  18. And if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. The Bills scored just six points in the second half.
  19. Favre is absolutely the right comparison. Not only does Allen play the game with all the fun and love of a kid in the sandlot like Favre did, he’s also the new master of the “oh no, oh no....yes!!!” Play. Like Favre, he makes plays that wow you and that few others could make. Also, like Favre, he makes head scratching and costly errors. I suspect we’ll always have to take the good with the bad when it comes to Allen. After all, Hall of Famer Brett Favre has the NFL record for most interceptions thrown, too.
  20. You could absolutely be right. I haven’t re-watched the game and am just going off memory. Here’s hoping Allen has overcome his woes against zero blitzes for good, in any case.
  21. I don’t know about “frequently”. He did so on the John Brown TD, yes. I can’t recall any other instances. While the Jets brought extra rushers frequently, I’m not so sure they employed many zero blitzes.
  22. 1. Any team quarterbacked by Ryan Fitzpatrick is never to be completely counted out. Yes, he can throw four interceptions in a game, but he can also throw four touchdowns. We've all seen it happen many, many times. Jekyl and Hyde. Which one will we see? 2. I was there in Orchard Park last year when the winless Dolphins were beating the Bills halfway into the third quarter. It took a miraculous Tre White interception and a 98 yard scoring drive to put the Bills out front, and it was close until the very end. Since then, the Dolphins have gotten better. I realize the Bills have gotten better, too, but I can't pretend like I didn't see the Phins and Fitzy stomping a mudhole in the Bills for more than a half of football. 3. We are without our two starting linebackers. The oppositions running game and tight end are good enough to take advantage of that lack. 4. I disagree with the notion that their cover guys "should not be a match for Diggs and Brown". Byron Jones very effectively limited Diggs the last time these two played. Xavien Howard is now fully healthy and should be able to cover John Brown with at least some success. Brian Flores is a good defensive mind. 5. The Bills, until they prove otherwise, are still susceptible to being beat by Zero Blitzes. The Dolphins will employ them frequently. 6. It's the NFL. Any given Sunday. Absolutely. The announcers mentioned, too, that the total lack of fans cause the wind to act a little differently, too. Bottom line: I'm not panicking on Bass. And unless I missed someone signing him, Hauschka is still sitting out there on the market, waiting to be signed. If Bass DOES turn out to be a cataclysmic failure, just bring Hauschka back in. But we're not there yet.
  23. After years of not having one, I do now. I was working at a local hotel as a concierge when someone walked up and said "hey, do you want a free, brand new SmartTV?". I was like..."uh...well...yeah, of course!". Turns out he needed a TV for a multimedia presentation he was leading at my hotel. It was cheaper to buy a new TV and have it shipped to the hotel and just use it once and abandon it than to rent a TV from our audio/visual department for the day. Yeah. Hotel A/V rental costs are expensive. So after ONE day of use, it was mine! I put a tapestry over it when not in use. I don't use it a ton. It's nice to have a second TV in the house. This way, if I'm monopolizing the TV with football, the wife can have an alternate TV option. I also often suggest that we go watch TV in bed, which is really just an excuse/opportunity to parlay that into...other things.
