  1. They will be trying to win games this year. On a national level , I’m not sure many would agree that it is obvious to start Nate Peterman. He doesn’t offer much in terms of experience, OR talent. He’s hardly a seasoned vet QB. Remember, the first QB they called when FA started was Bradford. They even brought in McCarron when he garnered little interest . They know what they’re dealing with. If he starts, it s because they just don’t feel comfortable throwing Allen out there just yet.
  2. And he will do this how from the bench? It’s not as if the Bills have Sam Bradford or some other seasoned vet to be a placeholder starter for awhile. NP has a couple games of NFL experience , including one where he threw a whopping 5 picks and got sacked multiple times. About the only argument one could make for starting NP is to keep the investment in one piece while the OL gets straightened out. Not many other reasons to start an inexperienced Peterman over Allen. It’s only a matter of time either way. The coaches will decide what they think is the best plan of action and we will watch the outcome unfold. All the arguments in the world won’t change that.
  3. Couldn’t find a different photo of this choad? Why drag the Bills and their logo into this ? Guy is clearly a loser
  4. No doubt. The pass rush has been undetectable thus far this ps. It’s a talent starved roster all around.
  5. None of us are making the call. The coaches will try to win football games, not protect egos. They know what they thing of Allen and what they think his timetable should be. That will decide who starts at QB, not anything that fans talk about. Theyll decide to start out with a placeholder QB unless they think Allen is ready. We don’t know. Peterman may develop into a solid career backup for this team for a long time. It’ll all play out. I get if fans don’t have the patience to watch a Peterman led team though.
  6. Yep. Very few ever have. But hey, we should all want more Peterman. Protection in that game looked pretty good all around. Vs CLE and CIN , that wasn’t the case.
  7. I’m sure it’s not lost on Daboll. IF they start Peterman, it will be with a controlled passing game. Asking him to do anything else would be “ Rico-esque “
  8. So they decided to get a QB and add to the defense this year. Next year will be the O, with a more experienced Allen. This team wasn’t going to be a one year quickie rebuild post Doug Whaley.
  9. Does this surprise you with a D minded coach? He wants to run his defense, we’ll see if it’s any good. They obviously felt they’d wait on the OL until next offseason. It’s not looking good thus far, but who knows ? Bottom line , it wasn’t ALL getting done in one offseason. The plan may have been to redshirt Allen for half the year or more anyway.
  10. No money, and they needed to draft a franchise QB. They have the most dead money in the NFL this season. This is year two of a tear down / rebuild project. Making the playoffs in the teardown year doesn’t change that.
  11. Wtf would they show that pic with a Bills jersey?
  12. You’re asking for more that B.B. and RR from Allen. PIT went to a AFC title game with B.B. throwing 20 some odd passes a game. SEA had a ton of young talent. This team has few top tier players. KB for one, got next to no separation vs CIN #1 secondary. Daboll could have had JA running some quick game stuff to cover up the crappy line play, but this game was about evaluating . He ran what he wanted to see the O run, and got a game tape full of evidence that they are not capable of it vs a quality defense.
  13. Well they did. They wanted to see Allen sling it and the line didn’t hold up. Until the OL gets figured out I don’t think they’d risk injury by calling those plays in a regular season game. It’s clear the OL wasn’t what they hoped. Reg season is a quick passing game to start. NP might be the option there. If Allen gets injured early, the year is likely a wash for him. Better to let him play the second half of the season a la Goff.
  14. About the same imo. No time for those plays to develop
  15. He’s always had that freedom. He doesn’t care what fans think. He’s trying to win football games. He owes it to all the vets on the roster and his staff to try what he thinks is the best chance to win right now.
  16. Can not ruin him. It will only reveal what he actually is. The only way he gets ruined is physically. NP looks exactly as he did last year imo
  17. I’d say no, unless they went to the quick game. Have to compare apples to apples.
  18. NP will look just as Allen did if he was running the exact same plays. Those weren’t quick hitters, by and large. They will have to run a quick game behind this OL in reg season. It’s apparent now. They wanted to see Allen throwing deeper stuff and this line isn’t up to it.
  19. I’ve always felt that the lower bowl corners to the 20’s represent good value. You’ll want to be at least 15 rows up or so to have good sightlines. 20-25 is ideal. You shouldn’t have to stand constantly there. If you don’t want to pay to be between the 30’s I’d look for these.
  20. Mack will likely be traded, as I don’t believe the Raiders will pay him. I just don’t think the Bills will offer the best overall package in return for a Mack trade.
  21. Watch the replay ( sound FX version). Steratore absolutely is in on the scoring play reviews. His smart sensible analysis of the plays is on full display here. Maybe different if not a scoring play , I’m not sure. When I said huddling up to discuss, that’s just picking up a flag. It’s not an overturned call. And it’s not just Bills fans either. It’s obvious to all except NE fans. It’s subtle at times but it’s there. Especially with regards to holding calls, or the lack thereof.
  22. I’m aware of the REF ‘s role. He also looks at the replay and discusses with NY. Seriously, watch the video. Steratore carefully evaluates the replay, and explains his reasoning with NY during the game on the critical scoring plays. The Ref also has serious influence if the officials huddle up to discuss. Many officials have obvious bias with re to the Patriots, and Steratore was not one of them.
  23. Hmmm. This preseason alone I’m watching C. McCaffrey, C Beebe, Tremaine and Terrel Edmunds, et al. Many ex players are coaches as well. I don’t think your statement holds water. Steratore was the Ref. He made correct calls that made sense. Watch the sound FX replay with his mic’d up audio of the SB game. Unfortunately, Gene was one of the few you could count on to call an unbiased game when New England was involved. Most can’t see past their subconscious bias when throwing flags . They assume the Pats made the play because they’ve won games, not because they took liberties and held etc.
  24. I’d argue that the QB’ s you mentioned ( Bills fans likely haven’t forgotten) weren’t that good to begin with. While they had some physical abilities , we know it’s the difficult to measure mental acumen that was lacking. As well as the intestinal fortitude. Sure, some may have experienced measured success in a perfect scenario behind a fortress OL. We also know a different QB can look just fine behind a mediocre line. Flutie / Johnson comes to mind. If Allen is ready to handle things in the eyes of the coaches, sitting him makes little sense. While I’d generally agree with Jordan Palmer’s take that all rookie QBs would benefit by sitting a year, it may not be practical. On the other side of that contention, I’d argue that a QB is either going to be great or he’s not. Starting him in an adverse situation won’t bury him. Waiting for a perfect scenario won’t save him either. If the Bills truly have a better option, then they should start that option. If Allen plays well, it doesn’t appear that they have one. It depends on the timing. What if his first “ egg” comes in his fourth start? What if it comes tomorrow? Regardless, the tbd reaction won’t mean a thing as far as if Allen will be any good or not.
