  1. Everyone should go read or listen to the interview WGR did with Morse. He talks about how he went to a clinic in Michigan during the off season for some extensive testing and he passed everything. So given that it’s certainly worth signing him. Everyone should read the comments by McD about Lotuleili and how he does what McD needs for his D. Beane is not immune to criticism. He messed up not bringing in Anderson in earlier last year. And he admitted such. Trading picks for Benjamin and Coleman were’t Good moves. But on the whole he’s doing pretty well.
  2. I’ll be watching the competition at DE and WR. And Allen, is he going through progressions and taking the easy short pass when indicated. He looked better at that last week.
  3. I’ve watched about 10 plays of the Cards-Raiders and I think 9 of them had a penalty flag thrown.
  4. I’m not worried about the Jets. Look at their HC.
  5. The world as we know it would end.
  6. Should they have less designed running plays for him? Yes. But I don't think much of his running last year; it was Allen taking off when he saw a gap. Should he run less on scrambles? Yes, because it will save him from unnecessary contact, and because it means he is learning to get the ball out quicker and to use his short passing game.
  7. I don’t put much stock in any media projections, good or bad. In the day of 24/7 multiple on line sites, blogs, etc., etc. journalists don’t have the time or motivation to do in depth analyses. And it’s exacerbated when you have a team that hasn’t had a lot of success, even less reason to do actual study. They want to put out things somewhat controversial to get more blog hits etc. So just take everything with a grain of salt, good or bad. As an example the bit about Costello saying Oliver struggled? I watched his series three times and don’t get it. But I smile. We’ll know soon enough what the 2019 Bills are.
  8. You're a dead man, Valentine!
  9. I see your point., but would counter with a few thoughts. The harm would potentially be tying up a spot on the PS you might need in case of injury. Right? So I'd say a couple things to that. One, you can go out there any wweek of the regular season and bring in a reserve O lineman if needed jsut as you could a QB. And I do agree if both Allen and Barkely got hurt you''d do that vs. play Jackson (although I doubt the ultimte outcome would change). Second, I doubt that if you had a, say, CB on the practice squad his potential for becoming really good is any better or wrose than for a QB. I think the QB position is so valued in the league that, if you see a kid you think had even an iota of developing into a produuctive player, you do whatever you can to hold onto him anddevelop him siince it's really hard to find a guy that can play. Other positions, not so much.
  10. Others have mentioned a few. You can go back to Johnny Unitas playing semi-pro ball in Pittsburgh. To me the point is that, while it's a longshot, it's still a shot. So if you see a kid like Jackson that has some raw physical skills, why not put him on the practice squad and take some time with him?
  11. You started a thread on how Jones would get cut and I thought you were nuts. I even predicted he’d catch the firs TD pass of the year. I’m not so sure you’ll be wrong. He has to catch that ball, and there are guys like Phillips and Foster ready to take over.
  12. Math is a difficult concept for some. Thanks for emphasizing that.
  13. Ball placement is a measure of precision and not accuracy
  14. And how many times does one factor out of many that affect a variable get beaten to death. I have said this many times before and will do so again here. Let's say a QB throws 30 passes a game and completes 16. That gives you very close to the 52.8% completion percentage to harp about. Now let's say he completes 18 of 30. That is the magical 60% some seem to be obsessed with. That is a difference of two completion a game. Now go back to last season and see how many drops or throwaways he had. That alone gets you where you want to be. I have said continually all off season that Allen needs to continue to improve, he needs to get better at his reads, get better at going to check down guys (which looked better in the first pre-season game). And he needs receivers that actually catch the damn ball. All of these are areas that should improve this coming year. So can we please for the love of God quit harping on this completion percentage nonsense as if it means anything about accuracy? Can we please for the love of God quit criticizing Allen or any QB, for hitting guys right in the hands and somehow blaming them for the incompletion? Can we please for the love of God quit dissecting each and every throw a second year QB makes in a preseason game as if it will definitively prove or disprove the guy's worth? If this is the depth of what some will do to critique Allen, then there will never be a QB for the Bills, nor probably has there ever been a QB for the Bills or for any other team for that matter, than could withstand that microscopic level of scrutiny.
  15. How many times on this board does it have to be brought up that completion percentage is not the same as accuracy? I don't know what Cosell and others wanted on this pass. If he puts it out front more, then the safety might be able to make a play on the ball, or it puts him in a better position to cream Jones and knock the ball out. He hit Jones right in the hands between the CB and safety, right in the hands, and he dropped it. When hitting a receiver right in the hands between two defenders is cause for being critical of the QB, I think that takes critiques to a ridiculous level.
  16. Not saying you are berserk and apologize for giving you that impression.
  17. Did I or did I not say Beane would lose on his calculated gamble if the Morse thing did not work? So quit telling me and others I approve everything they do. I don’t. I just realize that and I dont’ go berserk if a decision doesn’t pan out.
  18. I think you’re one of those who believes you have as much knowledge as Beane when making decisions. You’re wrong. Doesn’t mean his decisions will all be correct.
  19. Give me a break with the everything’s awesome junk. I said Beane made a calculated gamble on Morse and if he can’t play then Beane lost. What I will absolutely guarantee is that Beane had a helluva lot more date available to him before pulling the trigger than any blowhard on a message board.
  20. Teams do not let free agents walk. They get outbid.
  21. One of the facts is he got thoroughly evaluated in the off season. Why do you discount that fact?
  22. We don't act like he is a petulant child . He is a petulant child.
  23. I would tell him to walk, and I would then have all the owners and Goodell stand up and say no one is going to have him in their team and dare him to claim collusion.
