Georgia election laws and MLB
oldmanfan replied to Orlando Buffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Bull crap. I and others have repeatedly indicated the data by which the Georgia law will adversely affect the black community. No, they are not the Jim Crow laws of yesteryear because thankfully those have been outlawed. Oh, and when it comes to data, the data that is relevant is the data that says the Georgia law and others like it and based on a fantasy. There is no data to suggest that there was fraud in the 2020 election. None. Zero. Nada. These laws are being passed because Trump had a hissy fit about losing and claimed fraud before any votes were even counted, and Republicans didn’t and still don’t have the spine to tell him to shut up. -

All of the accusations you’ve made were examined and found to be invalid. 2+2=4. You want it to equal 5 because you refuse to accept that there is no data to indicate the election was fraudulent. -

I have done this several times as have others. You refuse to believe it because your head is up Trump’s behind. You are incapable apparently of separating your thoughts from that of a con man who cried fraud weeks before the election because his ego would not accept losing. And because of that the craven Republicans in state legislatures scared of him made up laws to fix a non-existent problem, laws that place a greater burden on a certain more Democratic leaning population. You and others when presented with 2+2=4 insist it equals 5 because Trump waits so are to be pitied. You should have more self-respect. I actually hope the Republicans place their trust and hope in a guy that lost the White House and both houses of Congress. When they get beat like a drum again it will hasten the reclamation of the Republican Party by actual Republicans who will espouse policies I oftentimes support. No more posts to you from me on this subject. Speaking to a brick wall does not interest me. -

Those were extreme actions which people today are smart enough to not emulate. They do so in subtler fashion such as have been described to you numerous times. Your refusal to get out of Trump’s backside is the issue here. -

You have no understanding of statistical methods not of audits. Georgia did just what you ask. And audits do not mean you recheck every single vote, you take a representative sample. You don’t want to believe anything associated with government. You want anarchy. -

Yes we do know for sure. Because the people entrusted with running elections made sure it was so. Your refusal to believe anything is your problem, not an electoral problem. The elections swung late because mail in ballots from heavily Democratic areas got counted later and in at least one state (Pa) because the Republican legislature wanted it so. -

Our election this past year was the most secure in history according to those who watch over such things, in addition to the courts, DOJ and everyone else I have already listed for you. Yet you want to use confusion in one primary election in one district to somehow indict an entire system. Because you are a lackey for Trump, and he put it in your head way before the election that if he lost there must be fraud. Because he knew he’d lose and his ego refused to accept it. Think for yourself instead of having an NYC con man do it for you. 2+2=4, not 5. And 100k did not happen. There is absolutely no proof of fraud and because your guy lost you refuse to accept reality. Reality is 2+2=4. Trump wants you to believe it’s 5, and you want to buy into it. Use your head. -

I already have as have several others, but you want to remain blind. If Trump insisted the moon was made of green cheese, would you insist he’s correct? -

No, the courts, the state audits and the DOJ showed there was no fraud. As far as the primary someone answered above that is was confusion over the process and not fraud. But you refuse to believe anything that doesn’t fit the Trump narrative. 2+2=4, not 5. Jim Crow law started after the Civil War to keep blacks from voting, working, etc. that is happening here again. Quit being a naive troll for Trump and think. -

The Republican state legislature has put itself in position to disenfranchise Democratic votes. Go look where most of the Democratic votes from Georgia came from last election and quit being so absurdly naive. -

I know exactly what Jim Crowe was and a Republican legislature putting themselves in position to disenfranchise black voters is pretty much textbook for Jim Crowe. -

The Republican legislature passed this. Republicans. After a non-fraudulent election. Try again. -

The state legislature, which is Republican, can decide on a whim that a given county election is questionable and take control over the ballots, thus being able to disenfranchise any voters they want. They could throw out votes from the black community if they want to throw the election. This is the most egregious example. Do that answer your question? -

That was a primary. Do you know what a primary is? There was no evidence of fraud whatsoever in the general election. Quit being so damn gullible and believing anything a proven liar tells you. I don’t excuse the primary by the way. But it has nothing to do with the general election in which multiple election agencies, courts and the DOJ all said that there was no fraud. Which is great for Independents like me to hear. -

There is no true fraud in elections. The percent is like 0.0001%. The commission Trump set up after 2016 to investigate supposed fraud found nothing and was disbanded as a result. The DOJ found nothing in 2020. Georgia did three audits and found nothing. The changes to voter laws in Georgia and elsewhere are complete farces, being done because of some slavish devotion to an ex-President who lost the White House and both houses of Congress. I swear if Trump said 2+ 2= 5 many like you would fall all over themselves trying to rewrite the basic laws of math. Enough already. Make sure everyone has the same form of federal ID and other than that make sure everyone has the unfettered ability to vote. And that means making more opportunities available, not less. It means the state legislature can’t invalidate votes on a whim. -
We have to decide when to announce our candidacy for 2024.

The discussion needs to start with what is the role of government, on federal, state, and local levels. The people of this country have behaved like spoiled children for decades now; they want all sorts of government spending while at the same time cry about wanting low tax rates. That is inherently absurd and we now are tens of trillions of dollars in debt as a result. I believe we should have be a flat federal personal income tax, with those under a given income, probably around 30k a year not paying. I’d set it at around 10-15%. No deductions for mortgages and such. For corporate I’d set it at about the same flat rate, again with no deductions or playing around. Verizon would pay 10% instead of 0%. There’s been talk of family farms; treat them as corporations. if I were President I would make attacking spending my #1 priority. Outside of emergencies like the pandemic, I would dramatically shrink the federal government’s spending as I believe much of what is done in the name of federal spending is more a state or local issue. I would calculate the amount of debt for each state and each Congressional district and give each senator and Congressman a month to figure out what federal spending would be cut in their area. I would cut Executive branch spending dramatically. Get rid of the Departments of Education and Housing/Urban Development for starters; they are local and state issues. I would work out if the Oval Office; no golf trips and such. Spending is the issue along with a tax structure that allows those with more money to avoid paying anything. My plan addresses both.

I live just outside Indy and I've been to Lucas Oil a few times. it's beautiful, but most times I'm there they have the roof closed and it just seems like too sterile an environment for an old fart like me. My best memories of Bills games are in the snow or rain. worst job to have going forwrad is a commercial real estate broker. A lot of companies realized they don't need all the space they had. -
The mortality rate of a disease is calculated by how many infected people die, not the general population. I discussed this earlier in the Covid thread; go read it. As for water, we’ll see how many polling places actually set up regular water stations for those having to stand in lines for hours. How much you want to bet it will be scarce? If this part of their law survives the courts I’ll be there to hand out water. Simple. Come join me.

I’m independent. I have very conservative ideas about law and order and finances. I also have strong belief in Christian principles like helping your neighbor in need. By your approach on this topic and by saying you would have rather had millions more die from the pandemic than using medicine and science you’ve shown us your humanity today, or lack thereof. I’ll live by my Christian principles of how to treat my neighbor. You go ahead and live by whatever those principles are that have so little disregard for others.
