  1. I think I have mentioned my favorite President was Truman. Not necessarily for his policies but because he had to make more critical decisions than perhaps any other President than Lincoln. And he always shot straight with the American public. The Buck Stops Here. When I think of how he would have dealt with the pandemic and compare to Trump (I take no responsibility) it both saddens.and enrages me.
  2. For the 2020 election, there were 94 drop boxes across the four counties that make up the core of metropolitan Atlanta: Fulton, Cobb, DeKalb and Gwinnett. The new law limits the same four counties to a total of, at most, 23 drop boxes, based on the latest voter registration data. The number could be lower depending on how many early-voting sites the counties provide.
  3. The masking data is incontrovertible. Laboratory and observational studies all indicate mitigation depending on the type of mask. And the leader of the country knew about the severity of the pandemic and abdicated his responsibility.
  4. See above genius. And now I am truly done.
  5. This starts it. You keep claiming no one read the bill, and it turns out you didn’t. How does it feel to look ridiculous? SECTION 26. 1097 Said chapter is further amended by revising Code Section 21-2-382, relating to additional 1098 sites as additional registrar's office or place of registration for absentee ballots, as follows: 1099 "21-2-382. 1100 (a) Any other provisions of this chapter to the contrary notwithstanding, the board of 1101 registrars may establish additional sites as additional registrar's offices or places of 1102 registration for the purpose of receiving absentee ballots under Code Section 21-2-381 and 1103 for the purpose of voting absentee ballots advance voting under Code Section 21-2-385, 1104 provided that any such site is a building that is a branch of the county courthouse, a 1105 courthouse annex, a government service center providing general government services, 1106 another government building generally accessible to the public, or a location building that 1107 is used as an election day polling place, notwithstanding that such location building is not 1108 a government building. 1109 (b) Any other provisions of this chapter to the contrary notwithstanding, in all counties of 1110 this state having a population of 550,000 or more according to the United States decennial 1111 census of 1990 or any future such census, any building that is a branch of the county 1112 courthouse or courthouse annex established within any such county shall be an additional 1113 registrar's or absentee ballot clerk's office or place of registration for the purpose of 1114 receiving absentee ballots under Code Section 21-2-381 and for the purpose of voting 1115 absentee ballots advance voting under Code Section 21-2-385. 1116 (c)(1) A board of registrars or absentee ballot clerk shall establish at least one drop box 1117 as a means for absentee by mail electors to deliver their ballots to the board of registrars 1118 or absentee ballot clerk. 6. I gave you the section of the bill. Read it. You wanted it. Read it. You’d rather depend on Fox News. Par for the course.
  7. Those statements were made very early before we realized the extent of the pandemic. Trump didD his big events when the pandemic was in full force, when the value of masking and distancing were established, and after he admitted to Woodward how bad the pandemic was but the lied to the people. You know this, so be better than this.
  8. I just did, and as I was the other day I am done with you on this topic. You make theses big claims about reading the bill and it turns out you’re full of crap.
  9. I went to the actual bill listed by the state of Georgia. You went to a Fox News site. How surprising. You have gone I. And in about actually reading the bill and it turns out you rely on Fox News. Hysterical. legis.ga.gov. Start there.
  10. ATLANTA)-Today, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced the results of the Risk Limiting Audit of Georgia’s presidential contest, which upheld and reaffirmed the original outcome produced by the machine tally of votes cast. Due to the tight margin of the race and the principles of risk-limiting audits, this audit was a full manual tally of all votes cast. The audit confirmed that the original machine count accurately portrayed the winner of the election. The results of the audit can be viewed HERE , HERE , and HERE . “Georgia’s historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system accurately counted and reported results,” said Secretary Raffensperger. “This is a credit to the hard work of our county and local elections officials who moved quickly to undertake and complete such a momentous task in a short period of time.” “Georgia’s first statewide audit successfully confirmed the winner of the chosen contest and should give voters increased confidence in the results,” said Ben Adida, Executive Director of VotingWorks. “We were proud to work with Georgia on this historic audit. The difference between the reported results and the full manual tally is well within the expected error rate of hand-counting ballots, and the audit was a success.” By law, Georgia was required to conduct a Risk Limiting Audit of a statewide race following the November elections. Understanding the importance of clear and reliable results for such an important contest, Secretary Raffensperger selected the presidential race in Georgia for the audit. Meeting the confidence threshold required by law for the audit meant conducting a full manual tally of every ballot cast in Georgia. The Risk Limiting Audit reaffirmed the outcome of the presidential race in Georgia as originally reported, with Joe Biden leading President Donald Trump in the state. The audit process also led to counties catching making mistakes they made in their original count by not uploading all memory cards. Those counties uploaded the memory cards and re-certified their results, leading to increased accuracy in the results the state will certify. The differential of the audit results from the original machine counted results is well within the expected margin of human error that occurs when hand-counting ballots. A 2012 study by Rice University and Clemson University found that “hand counting of votes in postelection audit or recount procedures can result in error rates of up to 2 percent.” In Georgia’s recount, the highest error rate in any county recount was .73%. Most counties found no change in their finally tally. The majority of the remaining counties had changes of fewer than ten ballots. Because the margin is still less than 0.5%, the President can request a recount after certification of the results. That recount will be conducted by rescanning all paper ballots. Dies this match your definition of data? If not, speaking as a scientist you don’t understand what data means.
  11. Excuse me. The audits showing no fraud are hard data. You can’t seriously claim that audits are somehow soft data. I quoted you the section. Read it. You’re the one crowing about reading the bill. Apparently you haven’t.
  12. No, sorry. You keep talking about reading the bill, then read it. I just did. I suspect more blacks will vote, because they will be so pissed that Stacy Abrams and her allies will make sure they get folks to the polls as they did this past year. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that the legislators of one party reacted to their losses by deliberately coming up with a law to potentially disenfranchise those of the opposition. I would feel the same if the parties were the opposite. My horse in this race is to ensure that the franchise is protected.
  13. Section 26, sub part c.1. Talks about drop boxes. Go read it. This will significantly decrease the number in Fulton county as an example. And yes, because there has been no election in the 3 months since the Georgia run off, it is all hypothetical. Duh.
  14. The Georgia vote was audited multiple times and no fraud issues were found. None. That is the data. Same C with the Senate race where both Republicans lost. What did the Republican governor and legislature do? Initiated the laws that we have now discussed ad nauseum. You are familiar with the concept of stimulus-response? Here you go. You can’t be that naive.
  15. IMAGES Will there be fewer drop boxes? Drop boxes allow voters to submit their ballots early into locked containers, rather than relying on sending them in via post or standing in long lines on election day. Democrats say the new law reduces the number of these boxes, making it harder to vote. There will be fewer in forthcoming elections, but this needs to be put in context. Prior to the 2020 election, drop boxes weren't used in Georgia. They were brought in as part of emergency Covid action. The new law does significantly reduce the number of drop boxes from the 2020 level. For example, Fulton County says it will go down from 38 to eight drop boxes. As for your definition of racism, who gives a damn what your definition is?
  16. I’m sorry but you are absolutely wrong about being able to throw out legally cast ballots. The state legislature in Georgia can take over control of elections from counties if they feel there is something questionable in that county. They have taken away responsibility of elections from the Secretary of State. Ask yourself why. You can’t be that naive.
  17. This is how science works. New studies lead to new data leads to new theories.
  18. To answer your question in the last paragraph, yes. The data set is in the number of audits performed by the states, none of which found fraud. In the review by the DOJ, which did not find fraud. In the over 60 court cases brought which did not find fraud. For the Georgia law specifically, three separate audits were conducted of I believe Gwinnett county and all of the found no fraud. If you want to claim fraud, you have the burden of proof. There was no evidence of such. Where is the data to show fraud?
  19. It is racist because it targets districts with a higher percentage of black voters. The number of drop boxes in counties such as Gwinnett have been lowered. The Republican legislature can decide a county’s vote is questionable and throw out legally cast votes should they choose; that will potentially affect Democratic counties which have higher populations of black voters. It will be harder for those of color to get proper IDs. The vote in 2020 was not improper. You need to step back and accept that as reality. Republican candidates lost the Presidential vote as well as both Senate seats in Georgia, the state officials and audits all confirm that, and as a result all these changes to the law took place. The claim that it is to improve election security is based on a lie by Trump, which is being supported by state Republican legislators to n a number of states because they are afraid of Trump for some bizarre reason. That is the political reality. Wake up and ask yourself: if the election laws were so bad in Georgia, why did the arepublican governor and legislature wait to change them till after this election? The answer a nor fraud, it is politics.
  20. There was no problem with the 2020 election. The DOJ, the courts, state audits, and such all confirm that. That is what I base my premise on. Intelligent people look at actual data and that is what the data tell us. You keep claiming there were problems with the election, that there was fraud, when there were not; the only reason to think that is because of the lie that Trump promulgated. You claim there was fraud with absolutely no evidence of such, and because of that the only logical conclusion to be drawn is you believe the lie. Show me your data, not just conjecture but actual data to back up your claim of fraud that could have affected the outcome, because those who looked into it (Georgia did three separate audits as an example) found nothing to support your accusation. Was there maybe a few fraudulent votes? Perhaps. But historically the percentage of fraudulent votes is like 0.00001%. I keep telling you that you can’t just say 2+2=5 just because you feel like that’s true. That is what you are doing here.
  21. Quit trying to deal in absolutes. Because the law isn’t the same as the first Jim Crow laws they aren’t Jim Crow laws. Now this. Rural voters in Georgia don’t have to stand in lines for hours, nor will their votes be potentially overturned by the legislature. Why? Because they vote Republican. They are not my people. I am Independent. You know that. But as an independent I am appalled at legislation that actively tries to disenfranchise anyone. I do not recall Democrats doing such. I do recall the stealing of votes by the Daley machine. That was wrong.
  22. You support the law. The law makes it harder for some to vote. The only reason the law was written was because Trump trumped up false charges about fraud, which I have not seen you acknowledge. Where have I lied?
  23. I have stated that I am for an ID that all citizens can access equally. And the right to vote is paramount to our country, even more than many enumerated in the first and second amendments. Without the right to vote we don’t have a democratic republic at all.
  24. I am sorry you cannot recognize obvious facts and that you choose to be so naive on this issue. We agree on many things. Not on this. And as for earlier complaints by Democrats, tell me when Clinton conceded the 2016 election.
  25. Bull crap yet again. The election results were audited by the states, the DOJ indicated there was no fraud, the courts ruled in dozens of cases that there was no fraud. Trump’s own trumped up committee to investigate supposed fraud in the 2016 election was quietly disbanded when they found nothing. But because one man has such apparent power over you and others you continue to puns thus illegal voting nonsense. Why is it so many cannot apparently think for themselves? Why is it so many are held in the thrall of a con man who lost the Republican Party the presidency and both houses of Congress? Why?
