Eichel is poisonous. Adams and Granato are following the playbook of McDermott and Beane. Set a philosophy, get players in who want to make hockey their priority, and get rid of guys who don’t buy in. So Eichel and his agents can sit and beeyatch all they want. Adams is doing just fine with this.

It's Time to Mandate Vaccines
oldmanfan replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
How does the Secretary of Defense doing what he did have a goddamned thing to do with me supposedly living in fear? I am vaccinated and don’t wear a mask now because of the CDC recommendations. I might in crowded areas based on their newer recommendation. -

No he’s not. Apparently the requirements for the shields are indoors. So are you now saying you would have been fine if the Secretary wore a mask and not a shield? For those saying he projected fear, that’s just ridiculous. -

Face shields to help prevent ‘disaster for our nation’: Duterte By Azer Parrocha June 22, 2021, 12:57 am Here’s an article from the Philippine press from last month about it. I completely agree shields are over the top but apparently that is what is going on there. So the questions I’d ask you are: 1. Given this does it make sense for the representative of our country to wear one? 2. If the Secretary had not followed policies of the country where he was visiting, do you think that would have sent a positive or negative message to an ally in the region? -

If this is the picture from the Phillipines their government requires protections such as this. Respecting the rules of the country you’re visiting as SecDef is OK. Another potential example of blindly posting things with no understanding of context. First , this is what I posted in response to the picture of Secretary Austin. As you can see, the word ignorant is not used anywhere. So you don’t know what you’re talking about there. Second, there are a number of sources including the US Embassy in the Phillipines who have indicated the Health Department there requires masks and shields, and that there is confusion over it because Duarte is wanting policies changed. You can look that information up as easily as I did. I have no problem with our Secretary of Defense following recommendations from the embassy in the country he is visiting, which is apparently what happened here. Then what was? This started with BMan yet again blindly posting something he gets from some far right website without understanding. The Secretary apparently followed policies of the host country. -

I looked up articles on Philippine regulations which indicated a requirement. Try again. I read it as our SecDef recognizing the Phillipine government is very sensitive to Covid regulations. -
Biden fumbles pandemic cure

I looked at the American Association of Pediatrics website; they have a document on state rates of infection which I tried to copy here but it wouldn’t load from my phone for some reason. The data as I read it indicates higher infection rates in children over the past month or two. Whether that is going to translate to higher morbidity and mortality rates we’ll have to see. Let’s hope not. -

My reading says the Phillipines requires face coverings. I would rather the representatives of our government respect the rules of the country they visit vs. not, even if it seems like overkill. I think the Phillipines should not require such extremes for vaccinated people. -

I believe the American Academy of Pediatrics supports my contention. I also have heard physicians interviewed who indicate they have a higher number of younger people being hospitalized. You are correct that it is a higher percentage. The data as I understand it is that the delta variant is more infectious, and given that children under 12 are not able to be vaccinated yet the math would indicate the percentage of children infected rises, as you suggest. I would disagree with that not meaning the whole number would change. What we can all hope is that, while the delta variant seems to be more infectious, it may not have as serious effects on infected individuals. We’ll have to see how that shakes out. -

I said above open things up. Let companies and places of business mandate vaccinations. Let the stupid people get it. They did, they die. -

I hope he stays well. The delta variant seems to be hitting younger people harder. I would be making sure the day car workers are vaccinated. I’d check on ventilation and such. Losing a year of in person school was tough, but from what I’ve seen kids were more resilient over it than adults. Oh Trump didn’t lie? Woodward’s interview. So you’re the smart guy. What should Biden do? Should he mandate vaccines? Because you know what you’d say to that. Effing hypocrites. -

As if I’m a Democrat. They own it, they have made vaccines available to everyone. It’s the idiots who won’t get it that are killing the country. How is that Biden’s fault? At least he didn’t knowingly lie to the American people about the pandemic like his predecessor. -

Then you stop with the partisan crap. You do it all the time. Right now all sane people regardless of party or anything else that can separate folks should be in lockstep demanding people get vaccinated. -

Yep and when kids get sick and die it kills me. But it’s on their parents at this point. The data is out there, the evidence in favor of vaccinations and such are out there. If I could, I would place kids in protective custody if there parents are so stupid hat they expose them. But that’s not how things work so unfortunately kids will die or have lifelong complications because their parents were so mind numbingly dumb. You don’t or you would not have wrote what you wrote. Facts matter. Words matter. I know the Trumpists had to spend 4 years always saying that’s not what he said or meant, but tough. I hope your 4 year old stays well through this. I hope you’re doing what needs to be done to help him or her do so. -

I think successful pro sports teams have to have synchrony with the coach and front office. They have to share a philosophy of what type of team they want, so the correct players are brought in to match their vision. The word process gets picked on a lot, but process works. Having a specific mindset for how to build the team and focusing all efforts on that is the only way to move forward, otherwise you just spin your wheels. I think the Pegulas finally get that after finding it with the Bills. I like what I see so far with Adams and Granato. They are going with younger guys, guys who want to be Sabres. They are bringing in some vets to complement and hold down spots until the younger guys take over. Building with the draft vs. high priced FAs. A culture where if you don’t buy in or want to be around, then see ya. Letting guys like Risto and Sam move on was good. They were never going to buy in. Eichel won’t be going for a while, no one will trade for him given his injury and for what Adams rightly will demand. But if he comes to training camp, then Adams and Granato need to make it abundantly clear that he needs to buy in. If not, sit his butt on the bench. And give the C to one who earns it. Next year won’t be a playoff year, but better than last year I’ll bet.

We have to hope Adams and Granato are like Beane and McD.

As one who works in health care I should be behind trying to protect all, have vaccinated people wear masks so they can’t transmit to in infected. But I’m done. Open things up at this point. Let employers and businesses make their decisions on mandating vaccinations. And if you are so goddamned stupid to not get a vaccine, then go ahead, get infected and die. If you are so goddamned stupid to put your kids at risk and they die, figure out how you’ll explain that to you family and your God. We can no longer allow the stupid minority in this country to dictate terms. They know the risks; if they get sick and die so be it. -

The highest number of deaths in a given year from the flu over the past decade was about 60,000 or about ten times fewer than the Covid pandemic. To say nothing is done to combat the flu is ridiculous since a flu vaccine is dispersed yearly, but people don't take it. Also, the flu vaccines each year do not have the same efficacy from year to year depending on strain vs. the over 90% effectiveness of Covid vaccines in preventing deaths. This is why just copying and pasting stuff without actually reading or thinking about it should not be done.
