  1. We will find out the motives of this nut in Atlanta as things go forward. Meanwhile the data shows big upticks in attacks against Asian Americans, and it causes my daughter and her friends to live in fear. Everyone in this message board should quit trying to play politics about this, and band together and call it out for what it is: racial prejudice. And it is wrong. Period.
  2. I can say he would not necessarily improve the roster. Is he really better than Kumetow or Hodgins as the 4th WR?
  3. Many thanks Matt. You’ll always be a Bill. Best of luck.
  4. They kept Taiwan Jones and Matakevitch. The latter is also a decent backup LB; the former is a great gunner on special teams. So really one guy on a roster of 53 at not much cost and we get complaints? Get over yourself. You would have said we should get rid of Tasker.
  5. I appreciate your thoughts. Do me and my daughter a favor. If you hear someone disparage those of Asian heritage just because they’re Asian, call them out on it and tell them just what you said here. If we all do this it will help.
  6. I don’t know about this particular incident but as the father of an Asian daughter I can tell you that she is scared and that she and some friends have been hassled. Drop the left vs. right political crap; this is a real problem and people like my daughter are suffering for it. Instead of making it about politics tell all those you know to treat Asian Americans like any other American.
  7. Beane is not done yet. HE's letting the dust settle and will likely pick up a couple more FAs - veterans who et released for cap reasons. Relax.
  8. It was inevitable that Kruger got canned. But it's not just the coach and Adams knows that. How many coaches have the Sabres burned through with the core players on this tam? Its about the players. I liked what I read from Adams yesterday about having a one way conversation with the team this morning, about having pride. I hope he walks into the locker room today, and lays into the weak little boys that make up this roster. And I hope he cuts the first one that gives him any lip, or pouts or (like Harrington wrote in his column today about Reinhart) rolls their eyes. Adams knows what it takes to win in the NHL, he knows you have to bring it every day, every shift; it's how he lasted so long in the league. He may not have GM experience but I think he knows what guys show passion for the game, and he'll move the ones out who don't have it.
  9. They lost Thuney and Cannon from their O line. That hurts.
  10. I have a daughter that is adopted from China. She has been an American citizen since she was 11 months old. She is as American as anyone on this board. And she is scared. And I am scared for her. What do I do for her right now?
  11. His ‘actions’ were to lie to the American public, to make wearing of masks a political farce instead of following science, and actively argue against the advice of professionals in epidemiology and infectious diseases. I have acknowledged previously I give credit about Operation Warp Speed although Pfizer as I understand it did not use government funding. While availability of PPE eventually came about it could have been done much more rapidly if the DPA had been initiated earlier. And instead of using the power of his office to rally and unite the country against the pandemic he used it to divide as a political ploy. And it cost him re-election. Biden has been in office less than 2 months. Do you think it is a fair comparison to judge his action in less than 2 months vs an entire term of his predecessor? He got his rescue plan passed; I agree with some parts and not others. He has set an example to wear masks; some refuse to do so again because of politics and not science. He has made bold claims about vaccine availability and numbers to be given by May 1. He’ll be judged on that. He’ll do other things the next 4 years that he’ll be judged on. I’ll judge him as he does things, and not presuppose what he’ll do which appears to be what you are doing.
  12. You are trying to deflect. Trump is responsible for his own actions or inactions. Including lying to the American public as shown by the Woodward interview. Including saying he takes no responsibility which, for the leader of the country, is inexcusable. I will judge Biden on his actions. Will all the vaccines get done when he says, will schools be fully open thus coming fall? And so on.
  13. Great stuff here. Good dialog.
  14. To remind you of Harry Truman’s famous sign: The Buck Stops Here. Trump: I don’t take any responsibility. Sorry, that doesn’t cut it.
  15. Are you familiar with Harry Truman and the famous sign on his desk?
  16. I could see having Duds consult at the very least
  17. I will say this for the Pegulas: I don't think they want the Sabres to be this bad. No one does. As far as the coach, I think one of the hardest things in sports is to identify the guy who will take that step up to be a really good HC. Some say they were lucky on McDermott, but the NFL committee had him on their radar screen, and McD had a definitive plan and process in place, and with Beane had the support of the owners to clean house and build a roster with guys they felt fit the mold. Has Kruger had that opportunity? Housley? Bylsma? I don't know. I think Murray was a disaster as GM and Botterill wasn't far behind, but each were considered bright young minds ready for their shot. Same with Housley as HC. Some say the Sabres need a veteran coach; you don't want for example the Providence HC. Well, they went and got a former Cup winner in Bylsma and look where it got them. How many people wanted Babcok and now he's a college coach. The NHL likes to recycle HCs who got fired one place for whatever reason; sometimes it works and sometimes (probably more times) it doesn't. Unlike the NFL, the NHL (and especially the NBA as a comparison) the lunatics run the asylum; the NHL and NBA are leagues where it's the players that play the music and the coach that has to dance. I think the Pegulas are looking for a similar route for success as they did with the Bills, a HC and GM with a specific plan and process to achieve success, and then giving them the freedom to get the players they feel will match their plan. I think they saw a HC like that in Kruger. Now, it may very well be that Kruger's plan is crap, but I wonder if you got a couple drinks in him what he'd say, and whether he feels he has players that can actually win. Regardless, I am sure Kruger will be gone. Adams I think deserves a shot to bring in a HC that he feels matches how he wants to build a team, and given his experience in the league he should have a pretty good idea what he thinks will work. And before he looks for a HC, if I'm Terry and Kim I have Adams spend some time with McD and Beane to discuss general philosophies and methods to establish the process and culture he wants and needs. Then Terry and Kim need to let him do it, and if that means moving a ton of players out fine by me. I don't think they need a President of Hockey; they need a competent GM and HC that are in sync for once, and they need to make it clear to the players who drives the bus. And for God's sakes find a goaile!
  18. Trying to buy a team. Usually doesn't work.
  19. I predict John Brown will replace John Brown. Once the dust settles he'll be re-signed to a reasonable deal.
  20. If someone shoots a cop in the head, you arrest them, throw their ass in jail, try them, and put them away for a long time. If someone shoots anyone in the head. you arrest them, throw their ass in jail, try them, and put them away for a long time. Doesn't matter if the shooter is white, black, or a green man from Mars. Doesn't matter if the victim is a cop, factory worker, doctor, or a green man from Mars. Not everything in the world of crime has to be racial. Right is right and wrong is wrong.
  21. Sure. Fire him. Then the players can quit on the next guy. Like they did on Bylsma and Housley, and now Ralph. I'm sorry, but when you have the kind of (non) effort you saw yesterday that should be all you need to see to determine it's about the players. No heart, no guts, no pride, no nothing. Risto seemed to say it's just the way it is and he can't change it? How about some effort, some veteran leadership? Adams made his NHL living by his work ethic. He must be steaming, knowing he wants to get rid of practically every guy on the roster, and that it's impossible to do so right now. Ralph will be gone soon. I hope most of this roster goes with him.
  22. Never buy FAs early. They are always way overpriced for the return you get.
  23. As I have said previously I am OK with a consistent form of voter ID as long as everyone has equal ability to obtain the ID. I do not believe actively coming up with ways to limit voter’s ability to cast their votes is a good thing. Having more vs. less polling places is a good thing, not a bad thing. Expanding weekend hours so those who cannot take time off on a Tuesday to vote is a good thing, not a bad thing. And being able to give someone who has been standing in line to vote for hours a bottle of water is a good thing, and wanting to outlaw that is absurd. Figuring out ways to disenfranchise certain voters because you are afraid they’ll vote against you is not just wrong, it is cowardly. It is cowardly because you don’t have enough faith in your own ideas and principals to stand up for them and believe in your ability to persuade the majority of voters.
  24. Round 1 for him and Hearns was the best round of boxing in history
