  1. the bills are also starting a brand new rookie qb. i wouldn't say it's a totally fair comparison. the teams are in pretty different places.
  2. i don't think there was anyone that though this year was going to be a continuation of last year. most realized there would be a step back.
  3. i can't argue too much with this, and i especially agree with the bolded. i don't think you can build on a culture model. culture is important, but it's something that developed every time. I don't think BB walked on as the coach of the pats and just installed a culture. they landed on a qb, but systems in place, kept consistency, and the winning culture appeared. my hope for this staff is that the offseason is drastic. they put themselves in this situation, so i'm very curious to see if they can get themselves out of it.
  4. i'm with you here. i don't expect dominant play, but i also don't expect this team to sleepwalk through the games like they have. i'm not sure it's a daboll issue, but i don't know a ton about him as a coach. if mcdermott really thinks this on daboll, then what? can you have 3 coordinators in 3 years?
  5. it is confusing, and i'm assuming that why mcdermott made the comment. he must know that even with limited talent, there's an opportunity for improvement. as @ColoradoBills stated, it's not entirely fair to put it on coaching, but i'm not sure what else to attribute it to.
  6. i think he realizes the talent isn't enough, but that being said, the ol still could be playing better. that's what i got out of it. the entire team needs to play better. i don't expect the wins, but at least the fight. i'm patient with this staff, but this is on coaching. i do think he can right the ship though.
  7. If he really thinks that, then I’m certainly not on board. I suppose that would mean that he thinks the talent is ok, and that guys aren’t just properly motivated. No one thinks the talent is ok.
  8. That’s fair, but some posters are running with this like he’s implying talent isn’t that important. We know that’s not the case. I don’t like McDermott said anything was more important that the other. To make a Super Bowl run, you have to have it all.
  9. Right. It has to be the perfect storm. Good coaching, the right talent, winning attitude, etc.
  10. Jesus Scott, he didn’t say or imply that at all. I think all coaches know that if your line and backs aren’t up to snuff, the running game suffers. Culture can’t change that, nor was it ever implied.
  11. This is pretty good. I think culture goes beyond individuals as well. If a team has that hard working, never give up attitude, this can rub off on the players and up their game. It certainly wouldn’t for everyone, but we’ve seen players go to various teams and turn their careers around due to being a part of a winning culture.
  12. I don’t think he said he doesn’t need talent at any point in time Scott. To even imply that is strange. This off-season is hopefully when they go looking for this talent. We’ll see.
  13. that was my point. the bills had the talent, but the coaching staff couldn't produce a winning culture, proper strategy, etc. it's hard to separate one from the other.
  14. i don't know if one actually trumps the other. we've had some solid talent on this team in the past, (at least that what everyone is telling me here) and didn't sniff the playoffs. it's a combo of a lot of different factors. i see why people are annoyed by the comment, but i don't think it's a pitchfork like as people are making it out to be.
  15. yeah...the entire quote does put a different light on it.
  16. it's a combo of both. i know some people that really don't buy into the culture idea, but i do. i'm not talking the bean/mcdermott culture specifically, but just in general rather. if you have a winning culture, i think a lot of the other points begin to fall in line. i wouldn't say it's more important that strategy, but it's the holy trinity of culture, talent, and strategy.
  17. he's one of the leftovers from the bbmb. he was terrible then, and is terrible for now. same threads, same attitude, and the moment the bills win another game, he'll completely disappear.
  18. during those couple of years, i remembered they moved on from peerless, but also drafted mike williams to help the line, (which we all know how that turned out) but i honestly don't remember what other changes were made.
  19. oh my god.
  20. this really is a great post joe, and god bless you for the bolded.
  21. My plan is to beat them until they turn out how I want. I read a book on it. It was a short book.
