  1. true that, Josh Allen is a project in my humble opinion. A J McCarron on the other hand is not. Despite the question mark when it comes to a franchise QB I really like what the Buffalo Bills have done in an effort to upgrade the position.
  2. Old school vs new school, good summary, I like it. The NFL is an ever evolving, ever changing league IMO. Cam Newton with his low 19 wonderlic score and running skills wasn't supposed to succeed in the NFL. Russell Wilson because of a height disadvantage faced the same kind of scrutinty. Our very own T Mobile was a long shot to ever becoming a starter in the NFL and just took Buffalo to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. The mold at QB position is made to be broken...
  3. What are the odds of a 6th round QB becoming the best signal caller the league has ever seen. Or a guy like Kurt Warner is bagging groceries one minute yet goes on to win a championship. I could care less about the odds... with all due respect Biscuit
  4. So you admit most 1st round QB's fail. Perhaps that should be telling us the way college QB's are being evaluated is not very reliable.
  5. It wouldn't surprise me if the list of college QB's that had a higher completion percentage and some of the best overall stats a man could ask for yet still failed to succeed in the NFL is bigger and much more impressive. Many QB's at the college level play in O systems that utilizes a high number of dump offs, bubble screens ect. making it more difficult to gauge the young signal callers potential at the pro level in my humble opinion. Josh Allen has all the tools it takes and then some IMO.
  6. The last time the Saints came marching in we got our butts whipped is why I find them offensive.
  7. Been there muppy, done that, still have a T E jersey packed away somewhere...
  8. I remember thinking to myself when you mentioned the dinner cancellation... ...this McD fella means business... ...no strings attached...
  9. As was I...
  10. When you say ceiling is not good enough Alex Smith is ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in the win/loss column with 90 career wins and almost every QB above him has won championships. Smith also has the lowest amount of games played. (top 10/wins) I'm not a gambling man, but If I was my moneys on Smith for the win.
  11. Every QB needs a good system and supporting cast all on the same page to succeed. Its something Buffalo doesn't have right now.
  12. Some folks seem to forget that a new O is being installed along with an Oline needing time to gel and training camp/ preseason is not by any means a good testing ground in my humble opinion. Allen not starting (IMO) will have less to do with talent or capabilities and the decision will be more based on the Bills supporting cast needing time for everyone to get on the same page. Why would Buffalo want to take a chance of injuring the future of the franchise when we have McCarron that will suffice getting the O on track. Coaches like competition and I'm not expecting them to count anyone out. Under different circumstances I might agree with some of you ...
  13. Myself personally, its not just a question of who shows the most talent, its what is wise for a star athletes development. Tossing a young QB prospect into the fire with an O that has yet to establish itself in the NFL along with an Oline that needs time to gel could ruin Allens career IMO. Everything is vanilla through preseason. I also don't think McD and Co will be under any pressure from above to start the rookie, especially with R Brandon's departure. So with all due respect Transplant, starting Allen at the beginning of the season is probably not going to happen in my humble opinion.
  14. Buffalo just had success recently with a later round draft pick and the Pats have won multiple championships with a late round draft choice. Meanwhile the last few 1st round draft choices for the Buffalo Bills have not gone well so spare me the lecture on how things are supposed to work.
  15. A J McCarron has waited a long time for a legitimate chance to start in the NFL and he's got everything you need to succeed in my humble opinion. Peterman is also not going to go away easily. Its very doubtful Josh Allen even makes 2 before the regular season begins IMO.
  16. I get a little teary eyed sometimes about the hardships and triumphs of one Mr Jim Kelly. Got a little teary eyed recently on the Josh Allen selection. ( that would be happy tears fellas)
  17. Voted McCarron, McCarron seems like the wisest choice in my humble opinion. On the other hand I could see and thoroughly enjoy a scenario where Allen just looks so impressive it causes McD and Co. to consider giving Josh Allen the start.
  18. The Bills QB position has what, 5 starts total, so I'm not sure how anyone has failed yet. On a side note ESPN has Buffalo ranked last in the NFL when it comes to confidence at the QB position. Myself personally, McCarron is going to be an upgrade in the passing department over TT, he's a good scrambler and knows how to manage a football game. Josh Allen is a once in a lifetime young QB prospect in my humble opinion. I haven't been more excited about the Bills QB position since the days of JK. Time will tell...
  19. Thanks OP, While we're on the subject of good CB's I would like to give an honorable mention to Jabari Greer.
  20. In BBMB's defense can you imagine having rules that dictate nothing bad can be said about an organization that hadn't reached the playoffs in almost 2 decades. Thanks TBD, SDS, Mods/admin, for setting such a great example.
