I understand, smooth flow of the game is at the top of almost everyones list when it comes to entertainment value. Myself personally, I wouldn't change the amount of red flag challenges a team gets or the way losing a time out is administered. Just expand it to all plays forcing everyone to do a better job playing within the rule book.

true that, The flow of a game from a spectator standpoint is extremely important , I get that, but its a balancing act between good entertainment and accurate results.

Players know the rules in every sport so how about a product with less mistakes from the athlete because they don't get away with it half the time. You think these guys might get paid enough to play within the rules?

Without replay capabilities to correct mistakes made by officiating crews you have zero accountability which is already a big part of the problem in my humble opinion. All plays should be open to scrutiny IMO. ( Red flag)

Teams should be given the capability of throwing a red flag on any play in my humble opinion. If a penalty is missed it gets called, If a penalty call is mistaken it gets corrected. You lose a timeout and the one chance to red flag a play when wrong.

true that, McD tends to practice what he preaches by making decisions that are cool and calculated. Formula for success, think smart, play smart. It boiled down to who do I trust more in my humble opinion. My D, or my 3rd string QB. T Mobiles on the field I think McD goes for it...

If your suggesting McD should have lost confidence in his D at that point, I disagree.

One of the main reasons I think McD decided to punt is because the D has come through on several occasions to help close out football games this season. The O on the other hand, not so much, especially with a 3rd string QB behind center. Didn't like the call at the time, but I also had a bad feeling Buffalo wasn't going to get to the 1st down marker. Smart, calculated, and thanks to OP's good breakdown the correct call to make. Buffalo may not have a boatload of talent right now , but what we do have is a smart HC and a smart group of players buying into the process.
