  1. I remember thinking to myself when you mentioned the dinner cancellation... ...this McD fella means business... ...no strings attached...
  2. As was I...
  3. When you say ceiling is not good enough Alex Smith is ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in the win/loss column with 90 career wins and almost every QB above him has won championships. Smith also has the lowest amount of games played. (top 10/wins) I'm not a gambling man, but If I was my moneys on Smith for the win.
  4. Every QB needs a good system and supporting cast all on the same page to succeed. Its something Buffalo doesn't have right now.
  5. Some folks seem to forget that a new O is being installed along with an Oline needing time to gel and training camp/ preseason is not by any means a good testing ground in my humble opinion. Allen not starting (IMO) will have less to do with talent or capabilities and the decision will be more based on the Bills supporting cast needing time for everyone to get on the same page. Why would Buffalo want to take a chance of injuring the future of the franchise when we have McCarron that will suffice getting the O on track. Coaches like competition and I'm not expecting them to count anyone out. Under different circumstances I might agree with some of you ...
  6. Myself personally, its not just a question of who shows the most talent, its what is wise for a star athletes development. Tossing a young QB prospect into the fire with an O that has yet to establish itself in the NFL along with an Oline that needs time to gel could ruin Allens career IMO. Everything is vanilla through preseason. I also don't think McD and Co will be under any pressure from above to start the rookie, especially with R Brandon's departure. So with all due respect Transplant, starting Allen at the beginning of the season is probably not going to happen in my humble opinion.
  7. Buffalo just had success recently with a later round draft pick and the Pats have won multiple championships with a late round draft choice. Meanwhile the last few 1st round draft choices for the Buffalo Bills have not gone well so spare me the lecture on how things are supposed to work.
  8. A J McCarron has waited a long time for a legitimate chance to start in the NFL and he's got everything you need to succeed in my humble opinion. Peterman is also not going to go away easily. Its very doubtful Josh Allen even makes 2 before the regular season begins IMO.
  9. I get a little teary eyed sometimes about the hardships and triumphs of one Mr Jim Kelly. Got a little teary eyed recently on the Josh Allen selection. ( that would be happy tears fellas)
  10. Voted McCarron, McCarron seems like the wisest choice in my humble opinion. On the other hand I could see and thoroughly enjoy a scenario where Allen just looks so impressive it causes McD and Co. to consider giving Josh Allen the start.
  11. The Bills QB position has what, 5 starts total, so I'm not sure how anyone has failed yet. On a side note ESPN has Buffalo ranked last in the NFL when it comes to confidence at the QB position. Myself personally, McCarron is going to be an upgrade in the passing department over TT, he's a good scrambler and knows how to manage a football game. Josh Allen is a once in a lifetime young QB prospect in my humble opinion. I haven't been more excited about the Bills QB position since the days of JK. Time will tell...
  12. Thanks OP, While we're on the subject of good CB's I would like to give an honorable mention to Jabari Greer.
  13. In BBMB's defense can you imagine having rules that dictate nothing bad can be said about an organization that hadn't reached the playoffs in almost 2 decades. Thanks TBD, SDS, Mods/admin, for setting such a great example.
  14. true that, it wasn't really an Allen , Luck comparison to begin with, but I do belive Allen could have the same bad luck under similiar circumstances. The point I was trying to bring home to you transplant is with a new coaching and system installation comes growing pains which the QB will have to endure. When all the kinks are out and the Bills Oline shows an ability to protect properly the playing field would be better suited for a young QB prospect in my humble opinion Let McCarron do what we brought him here to do... On a side note I see ESPN has Buffalo ranked last in the NFL on confidence at the QB position.
  15. The highest odds for Allen is a reflection of the experience at the position each team has IMO. McCarron is very limited in comparison when it comes to experience.
  16. Can you honestly say Buffalo is giving Allen a good supporting cast and system to play in before regular season begins because I don't think you can. Oline is a big question mark, something we can agree on. You can't go back and do things over once you trash a young QB prospects confidence IMO. We have a smart HC so I'm going to have faith in the process...
  17. I've watched good QB prospects become damaged goods over the years because of a teams poor judgement on whats considered an adequate supporting cast / coaching /system in place and functioning properly to provide everything a young prospect needs to succeed IMO. I'll use A Luck as an example because I believe under better circumstances Lucks career as a pro may have gone better both from an achievement and health standpoint in my humble opinion. Trent Edwards is another example that hits closer to home. So with all due respect transplant its not just a question of who shows the most talent through training camp and preseason which can't duplicate regular season play, its a question of what is wise for the young QB prospect by way of development.
  18. Myself personally, the Bills are in somewhat of a rebuild mode, especially on O with new coaching/ system installation. The wise approach is to allow the more experienced McCarron take the bumps and bruises until the supporting cast /system is established and fully operational in my humble opinion. Josh Allen is Buffalo's future, I get that, and I'm as excited as the next guy to see him play.
  19. Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts, finding the middle ground, I like that summary thanks for the reply
  20. My thoughts also... Having enough intel by halftime to make intelligent adjustments is a key point in my humble opinion. Myself personally, players practice so they can go out and execute plays properly and the more deviation from the original game plan the more likely you will have less success executing in my humble opinion. Some of the best teams in the league can get away with drastic changes on the fly because they have some of the most talented, experienced and well coached players in the league with everyone on the same page. Easier said then done in my humble opinion...
