Reeeeeally hope we trade to #3 with the Colts and get one of Rosen/Darnold/Mayfield.

Exactly what I thought at first, too. Can't find anything on where he currently lives, but I would love for this to somehow work.

I'm good for moving up for Mayfield at #3-5, so, yeah, do it at #12. No to Allen. Maybe even at #21 and #22.

I tend to buy into it at least a little. I get the sense the guy will do anything to win, and I like that. I don't like antics, so agree there, but I think he just wants to win. I've heard/read many reports that he will put the team on his back and is successfully in motivating his teammates. Unrelated to Mayfield, isn't the NFL a little like Wrestlemania? It's an entertainment league above all else. Related to Mayfield, I'm not sure you have to completely stifle his personality. A good organization/coach just channels it effectively and healthily. In sum, I get the sense he is a guy his team will really go to battle with/for.

I hear that, fair take. Personally, I like Rosen and Darnold, but really hope we move up for Mayfield.

I don't think anyone is denying the variance and uncertainty in scouting. Still, if OBD likes a guy enough that they think he is going to be (instead of a franchise QB, I'll say) great, then they should trade up to get him. The same logic regarding uncertainty can be applied to every single pick in the draft. But teams still draft guys. Relying on their scouting departments. And if they are sold based on their scouting that a guy is a great QB, then they should move what need be moved to get him. I don't think we should settle for competence. We should be going all-out to obtain a great QB.

I'll put it this way, more likely than not, if we aren't signing Cousins, then the best action to take is to trade up to #2, #3, or #4.

Wholeheartedly disagree. If OBD is convinced one of the QBs in the draft is a franchise QB, then they better move whatever need be moved to obtain him.

Smokescreen - Beane's got a guy at the Nat'l Reporter. Now the Giants won't think we're desperate.

On that point, I feel like it would be more likely that a QB could come into the league and improve his arm strength than improve his accuracy.

I don't see the XFL as a minor league or shying away from off-field drama.

I have to say, while I tend to lean more towards trading up for a rookie QB than signing Cousins, the idea of having QB "settled" with #21, #22, #53, #56, #95, #117, #149, and #157 does sound appealing. That very well could mean starters at WR/OT/DT/DE/LB and heavy contributors at HB/CB.

What if you were convinced they are franchise QB material?

I feel like when his "positives" largely include excuses about Wyoming and accuracy and focus on prototypical size, yeah... no thanks.

Let's hire one of those guys that do the red light, yellow light, green light away from the Eagles. I think next year he can handle all three lights.

Not Rosen, not Darnold, nor Mayfield?

Although I support a trade up, what would people think of taking a QB at #21 and #22? If you look at the draft as a lottery, then why not buy more QB tickets and hedge your bets? My guess is it would be Jackson and Rudolph. Let them duke it out in camp?

At the end of the day, OBD has to trust their eyes. You can't predict the future, but if your board says a guy is the guy, then that very real cost is worth taking the chance. Can't let Wentz get you too high or RG3 get you too low. Each prospect is their own guy and OBD should pull the trigger if a prospect looks like the guy.

Interesting tidbit on WGR this morning, basically saying that Mayfield is calculated in drawing the attention to himself, especially from the opponent, because he doesn't mind it and it allows his teammates to focus and not have so much pressure on them.

Hefty, but worth it if OBD truly thinks the guy they are getting is franchise QB material.
