Tomlinson tapped out of a playoff game, I’m surprised to see him mentioned at all. He got plenty of attention during his career, he got small when things got big.

I was surprised it got off the ground in the first place. The NFL has worked hard at having relevance for 365 days a year. They have fine tuned their offseason schedule to keep fans interested. I don’t have the energy to watch a single second of an inferior league. The break from football is what makes each step exciting again. I’m not ready for football, I will get hyped for the draft, then it dies down until TC and fantasy talk heats up again.

He gave stats for 16 games, I don’t know how accurate the yards totals are but I do know that Foster only played in 13 games so that’s a bad start.

Willie Parker had a nice three year stretch. He was fun to watch.

I dismissed Allen around the time of the combine because he had some atrocious stat against good competition. I can’t remember what it was but it was glaring. That fact was also followed up with Breer saying that Allen/Jackson were both rocks when asked to work the whiteboard at the combine. I hadn’t even watched much of him but I didn’t what any part of him. Bandit made a case for Allen in a post and it caught my attention enough that I decided watching Wyoming reruns couldn’t hurt. From that day forward I was all aboard the Allen train. He has the “it” factor, many times he would perfectly place a ball to a spot, something we hadn’t seen around here since Kelly. Missing his running ability makes sense, that puts his floor at Randall Cunningham. Missing those passes is something I won’t understand with many folks. I remember urging people to watch and look for it. Reminds me of Big Ben, moves and can still anticipate the exact spot where the ball needs to be and nails it. If he cleans up the short stuff he is going to be a star.

In 2016 he had 252 carries for over 1300 yards, last year he had 250 carries for 900 yards and a 3.7 YPC. His YPC has dipped each season and it’s now well below the league average. Nagy decided those carries would be better used on someone else and gave Howard away for nothing. After watching way more Bears games than I’d like to admit, I agree with him. Howard looked pretty bad all of last season. Sluggish and not excited for contact. With FA on the horizon I expect Howard to refocus and have a much better season in Philly. He has value in standard fantasy leagues.

The phrase “keep your head on a swivel” is now dead for both football and hockey. In honor of the Primetime thread, I really miss the Jacked Up segment. I’m fine with them making the game as safe as possible, I’m not fine with them changing the league entirely. You can flag cheap shots, suspend guys, banish guys etc. but some of this stuff goes beyond that. Plenty of professions where people sacrifice their own quality of life for $. I will miss the “real NFL” when it’s gone, seems like the game will be transformed into something else in the next 10 years.

His touchdown against the Vikings was nice. Shady wasn’t very memorable last year either.
