2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
CommonCents replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
Pretty accurate http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000786280/article/2016-rookie-grades-packers-rams-jets-get-limited-production 1. Hooker 2. Dupre 3. Douglas -
Too bad Mel Gibson went nuts. Braveheart The Patriot We Were Soliders Saving Private Ryan is probably 2nd for me though.

Jabrill Peppers? (Thomas Davis/Shaq Thompson clone)
CommonCents replied to JustWinPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He belongs beside the boat that don't float on the island of misfit toys. If Whaley drafts this kid my Ragland tirade will look tame. -

Darrell Revis charged in assault incident

Revis? Terrorist threat? No surprise. It was pretty clear he was smuggling something in the back of his pants last season. -
Vince Young - another comeback planned.

I know people poke fun at the Wonderlic but when you have a guy like TT failing to perform many of the mental requirements of the QB position it says something. Give me Cardale and that 25 all day long and send TT off to OZ for that brain. EJ scored the same as Peyton, so the test obviously isn't a measure for success but an alarmingly low score could be a hint at something? Couldn't it? -
That's not true. Cowherd went off on the Bills for giving money to TT and compared it with the money they threw at Fitz. Something to the effect of they obviously don't know what they are doing. On that we can all agree.

US spies reportedly keeping intelligence from Trump
CommonCents replied to Meathead's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Simmer down meatball, everyone knows Trump is a jack ass. The same concerns would be there with Hillary if she was in office. The issue at hand here seems to be the unchecked and self serving intentions of the intelligence agencies. Wait, Russia and Wikileaks hacked and manipulated the election though. Right?!? -
The Baker in the 2nd round might be a little too optimistic. A bunch of early love coming for the safety position in this class. Good work on putting that together but i don't like Kendall Wright at WR and Villanueva isn't leaving Pitt.
-
One mistake not worth repeating would be spending tight to the cap in the coaches first year. They should see who fits and who doesn't. Most of it is dare we say "common sense" but after Clay and that mini spending spree they were unable to fill some nessecary holes on last years team.

OBD likes to perpetuate the myth that they tried to get Big Ben, so they were convinced he was the guy but couldn't part with more picks to get the job done? That's simply unacceptable. If your willing to swing picks around for ILB's and WR's you damn sure better overpay when you know your future QB is not going to make it to your pick. The strategy I listed above does one thing...it eliminates excuses because no excuse exists for a QB starved team to get trigger shy when they know their guy is there. Enough with the this job is hard baloney, Whaley makes big bucks. Find the quaterback and get him to the podium, stop with the purgatory talk and we woulda coulda shoulda. If you want to work in the NFL find a guy that actually has "it" or GTFO.
-
My point is once you find the guy, do what it takes to get him. I don't care if you trade away all of the 18' draft to land the right guy. Find him and draft him. If he isn't in this draft then bolster then roster and cross your fingers that another Dak Prescott doesn't emerge because once again OBD will have missed. If they take Mahomes at 10 or any of the other guys I will be onboard until it fails. Watson/Kizer would have me doubting the decision making but I'd like the fact that they took their guy. Don't screw around and try accumulating a 2nd round pick and miss out on a QB.
-
In both situations the people in charge didn't get the right player in here. Whaley and his team have had plenty of time to address the QB position long term and have yet to be successful in doing so. If they like any of these guys I would hope they would stay put at 10 and make the selection. If they don't take a QB then they better get players in here that make an impact because the absence of a quality QB for another length of time is going to seal Whaley's fate.
-
Good post. Another Big Ben situation or Russel Wilson type scenario will burn them one last time. If you find a guy you love just take him at 10. Pick the right guy! For once!!!

And because of Taylor's inability to play QB it leads to more guys in the box which hurts the running game. That's why reciting stats is irrelevant. The unit was successful as a whole but Taylor struggled throwing the football which is why a QB is paid so handsomely. Or are they paid so much because they lead the two minute huddle? Or is it because they read defenses and make on field adjustments. Oh wait a minute! Taylor does none of that well if at all. Taylor makes exciting plays with his feet and throws a nice deep ball. He is easy to cheer for, as an underdog. He is not a guy you commit serious dollars too because he doesn't play his position well enough. A slight upgrade in the passing game creates more space for the RB's and suddenly Taylor's impact is a wash. Is it inconceivable that Cardale or a rookie could benefit from playing behind one of the best rushing attacks?
-
I read that Lunardi thinks they only need two more wins. I could be wrong I was half asleep last night looking things up for the tourney.
-
Explain what big role TT had in making the rushing attack better. The Bills ran one of the more complex running schemes while most teams focus on building their offense around a passing scheme. They were successful with what they tried to do as a unit. Taylor ran well but struggled with the passing game. Wouldn't a moderate upgrade in the passing game also aid the rushing attack? Should the elite rushing attack have helped an inferior passer become atleast adequate? Many a Sunday's we went without ever seeing a professional level QB, he looked like another running option most weeks. We have plenty of running options and they come much cheaper than TT.

The NFL Gets Into Politics - Do You Care?
CommonCents replied to IDBillzFan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You can piss in a Porta Potty next to your friends. You can't piss outside, infront of your friends. You can go inside the stadium and piss infront of your friends mom. -
I don't think the Pats dish out any serious money at WR. They have a fair amount of guys headed to FA that will need to be resigned. Ryan and Hightower are both going to get overpaid by someone.
-
He is the biggest offseason story outside of the draft. Will this be the QB that teams refuse to overpay? It's been a few years now since the debates of giving "mid" level guys like Tannehill and Dalton big contracts. Then last year was the Brock bidding war. All the evidence is there which pin points Taylor's faults. If Buffalo lets TT go any potential suitors will be negotiating with Taylor knowing that they are putting their reputation in his hands. Buffalo rejected a QB and then you went and signed him to serious guaranteed money!? I'm certain he won't be going to Denver. It would have to be a GM that's desperate.
-
Revolt like how? Wear headphones during meetings and half ass it the majority of the time? Ignore Seth Joyner whilst he is trying to get you up to speed? Spend the offseason on the weed and PS4? I hope the new coach is looking for ways to break up the lax behavior instead of making decisions as to not upset these bozos.
