Runaway with me tonight
Dream the dream, light the light
Happiness is what you give to me, oh yeah
Steal away, steal away
You gotta steal away the night
When the season started I had the Bills as legit SB contenders. As it stands now I have them downgraded as playoff contenders.
Not making the playoffs or making the playoffs and being one and done would be be a huge disappointment for me this year. I see the warts but I still see the potential for a post season run. I'm gonna ride it out because we've never won a game in the off season and watching the Bills win games makes me happy.
Yup, I get that we went from SB contenders (favourites would have been an overstatement IMO) to playoff contenders. But when we sucked folks would hit up the ESPN playoff machine and come up with unrealistic ways for us to sneak into the playoffs.
Now that we're 7-5 there's too much sentiment for my taste that we'll miss the playoffs.
What amazes me this past week is I feel like a large majority of the board lived through and stuck with the Bills through the drought. And there was more optimism at the tail end of the drought than there is now that we're competitive.
Anyone remember the video of the Bills fan coming off anesthesia and unconsciously ranting about how the Bills always let him down?
Now is not the time to walk away from the Bills.
Non answer #2.
The funny thing here is that I think your premise is the Bills need a better running game. I agree with that. Your running stat supports the argument but the stat alone confirms nothing IMO
Serious question: how may 125 yard games between two backs have there been in the 55 games? Would it move the needle at all? Bills haven't been a one back team since Shady.
The weather didn't ruin the game for me at all, the outcome did. I thought the game was compelling from beginning to end. Definitely had a high school feel where kicks and punts are an adventure.
Put me in the camp that thinks that the elements are part of the game - and some teams adapt or are built better than others under different conditions. Bills game plan was too conservative IMO - they should have let Josh throw more in the first half - his arm should've been an bigger advantage than it was.
The Raiders wore that motto on their sleeves and I always respected that.
One of my pet peeves wrt the Pats is they wanted to have it both ways - everyone knows they cheated but they wanted to maintain a squeaky clean image. I remember when they tried to play off the guy nicknamed The Deflator as a weight loss guy. Just own it and move on
Cool. Where are you getting your tickets? Looks like you can get them through the school but they only show the general section, not the seats.
From what I saw this year you're 100% right about not being a contender - big disparity in talent even though I thought Taulia was pretty damn good.
Yeah, my son is a freshman at Maryland - and in the band. The bonus is my nephew is a junior at Virginia Tech and the game is in our backyard so we'll have a mini-family tailgate.
Maybe just when the RB is on a rookie contract. I favor OL over RB. Of all the positions on offense and defense I feel like RB is the easiest to fill with a competent player and with the salary cap it's hard to justify a big contract.
I'm legit trying to understand your thought process. You start with agreeing with @ganesh:
"I don't think players care that much on what is shown on TV!
They have to prove it on the field."
But then you finish with the pressure being on the Bills because of what will be said on message boards and ESPN if they lose. Looks to me like you're playing both sides of the coin.
What am I missing?
If Scherzer and DeGrom are healthy that's a formidable 1-2 punch reminiscent of Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling. If they aren't they'll have a lot to talk about on the DL.
Lost in the sauce is the Mets also signed a legit CFer so the outfield defense gets better behind them.
Big fan of BOC. Secret Treaties was my fave studio album of theirs - but their first two live albums are what hooked me. My fave song from each:
The lead guitar on this one is outstanding.
The lyrics in this one are outstanding (Like acid and oil in a madman's face his reason tends to fly away)
Who wrote that tired sea song
Set on this peaceful shore
You think you've heard this one before
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past
Still I remain tied to the mast
Could it be that I have found my home at last
