  1. Sounds to me like you have utter disdain for the music of the 80's. Which is not me saying anything bad about the Jim Carroll Band.
  2. I heard an interesting radio call-in today. Caller said he was black and had been a CB at URI years ago.A white safety on URI (Chris) got into it with a Hofstra WR. Another Hofstra player told the CB to settle down his safety after the safety broke out the n word. The callers point was that he didn't believe Garrett based on his own experience of what would happen. Take it for what it's worth, but caller sounded legit. It was telling to me that he named the player - I thought it was subtle to call out Chris without over-shadowing his point.
  3. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot Drink up me 'earties, yo ho
  4. When Irish eyes are smiling Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring In the lilt of Irish laughter You can hear the angels sing
  5. Well, the Camptown ladies sing this song doodah doodah
  6. Well, I'm running Police on my back I've been hiding Police on my back There was a shooting Police on my back And the victim Well, he won't come back
  7. It's a natural progression for up and coming bands to evolve into something else. Usually it's something softer and/or something that the early adopters don't approve of. Maybe they're chasing the dollar - I have no problem with that. Go make your millions, given the chance I would too. As a consumer, I just might not spend my money on it. Maybe they get older and get sick of playing the same sh!t they played when they were younger. Bands are damned if they do, damned if they don't. If they never change they're just churning out the same old sh!t. If they do change, it's a bunch of crap that doesn't live up to the early stuff. A great example for me is the Goo Goo Dolls. Unless I'm wrong, Buffalo origins. First I heard was Flattop from A boy Named Goo. Thought it was a great alt/pop song and really liked the album. Dug deeper and found their earlier albums sounded like the Ramones, which although I liked, sounded unoriginal. After that they went super-pop which I couldn't stand. I'm fine with liking their middle ground without condemning what surrounded it. My overall point? Like what you like for whatever reason you like it, but expect bands to change.
  8. I'm a Barbie girl in the Barbie world Life in plastic, it's fantastic
  9. I knew of that movie but never saw it. Best part was James Caan after jumping the train: "Ta-da!"
  10. Well done. A few notes: - I'm not sure if Gumball Rally ever got the play that I thought it deserved. Haven't seen it in ages, that will change soon. - I went looking for the orig Vanishing Point and kept landing on the remake - Blasts from the past : McQ and Dirty Mary. Again, well done.
  11. I'm gonna need some photographic evidence of said, else it's time to march on you with heads on sticks!
  12. Greatest car chase with a tricycle.Hands down. Gotta love the recurring car chase comedy driver who happens upon the scene and says "eff yeah, no clue what's up but I'm down for the car chase!"
  13. Another one from the same era. Amazing how many VW Bugs show up in these 70's car chases. There's also a Pinto at the beginning of this one:
  14. This was great, never saw it til now. The clip and your description down-thread makes me think that this is a love it or hate it deal.
  15. Nice addition. Never heard of or saw that. But the scene where everyone in the arena left their seats to watch he chase was beyond stupid.
  16. Totally agree. Riveron has put himself in a bad place for the playoffs. If a play like that goes to review at a big moment in the playoffs whichever way he rules will be wrong.
  17. For every voice you've ever heard There's a thousand without a word Redbird, don't say you told me so Just give me one more song to go. Do I read a message in your eyes You want to love to stay another night Baby when you day goes down I won't be waitin' around for you.
  18. He was a beast on Battle of the Network Stars
  19. Funny thing is that we did a tourist boat thing and I had no idea that we had to 'lock into' the Chicago River until we did and then I was wondering if you were on station as we passed through. I asked afterwards, and if I recall correctly, you're further north. But yeah, based on the length of your posts you have too much time on your hands.
  20. The fine people of Chicago treated me and the fam very well - except for the lockmasters...what a bunch of know-it-all, over-officious d-bags! JK
  21. Vacationed in Chicago two years ago and made a point to take the fam on a tour of: Lower Wacker Drive, the intersection where the cop car pileup happened and of course the Richard J Daley plaza. One of the great car chase scenes ever.
  22. Agreed that these are play specific calls, but some of your supporting statements look suspect at best. Jack Tatum? Don't think he was ever suspended. Did you mean someone else or did I miss that he got suspended? To the last few years point, as per wikipedia, guys that were suspended since the mid-80's below. Other than 2017 looks like suspensions have been doled out on the regular starting in the new milennium. 1986 Greg Townsend:Unsportsmanlike conduct, stemming from his participation in a brawl versus the Kansas City Chiefs on October 5, 1986 1986 Charles Martin: Body-slamming Chicag o Bears quarterback Jim McMahon 1996 Derrick Thomas: Unsportsmanlike conduct, stemming from multiple personal fouls in a loss against the Denver Broncos 2002: Rodney Harrison: Helmet-to-helmet collision on Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jerry Rice 2006 Albert Haynesworth: Stomping on Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode 2007 Adam Jone: Attacking a stripper and threatening a security guard's lifes (irrelevant, included for humor value). 2008 Eric Smith: Helmet-to-helmet collision against Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin 2008 Plaxico Burress: Accidental shooting with a firearm (irrelevant, included for humor value). 2009 Plaxico Burress: Aforementioned accidental shooting irrelevant, included for humor value). 2009 Dante Wesley: Launching himself against Tampa Bay Buccaneer punt returner Clifton Smith 2011 Ndamukong Suh: Stomping of Green Bay Packers lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith 2011 James Harrison: Violent tackle on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy 2012 Joe Mays: Illegal hit on Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub 2013 Antonio Smih: Removing and swinging Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito's helmet 2013 Dashon Goldson: Helmet-to-helmet hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles 2013 Brandon Meriweather: Repeated violations of the league's helmet-to-helmet policy 2013 Eric Walden: Headbutting Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker 2013 Dashon Goldson: Repeated violations of the league's player safety polic 2013 Michael Griffin: Repeated violations of the league's player safety policy 2014 Brandon Meriweather: Illegal hit on Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith 2014 Dominic Raioloa: Stomping on the leg of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Ego Ferguson 2014: Ndamukong Suh: Stepping on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers 2015 Aqib Talib: Poking the eye of Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen 2015 Odell Beckham Jr: Helmet-to-helmet collision on Carolina Panthers cornerback Josh Norman 2016 Vontaze Burfict: Repeated violations of safety-related playing rules 2017 Danny Trevathan: Helmet-to-helmet collision on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams 2017 Andrew Sendejo: Helmet-to-helmet collision on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Mike Wallace 2017 Rob Gronkowdick: Intentionally falling on the neck of Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White while he was on the ground 2017 JuJu Smith-Schuster: Violations of safety-related playing rules 2017 George Iloka: Violations of safety-related playing rules 2017: Thomas Davis Jr.: Illegal hit on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams 2018 Leonard Fournette: Fighting Buffalo Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson during a game 2019 Vontaze Burfict: Repeat violation of the league's player safety policies, stemming from a hit on Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle
  23. Channel flipping today and just missed the car chase from Bullitt. Watched it on the youtube and to be honest it didn't quite live up to the memory, but still iconic. So what are your favorites?
  24. Pennies make no sense.
  25. In the other Garrett thread someone asked whether it would have been a lifetime ban for Garrett if it had been Brady instead of Rudolph. When you compare Gronk/Tre and Garrett/Rudolph incidents to the punishments meted out by the NFL it's hard to ignore the star/Pats factor.
