  1. Yeah, I get it. Years ago I was on the left coast on a football Sunday and it was bizarre to have games starting at 10 AM. I used to hate the late starts because my kids couldn't stay up for the late innings - now t's because I have a hard time staying awake. With regard to the OP, you nailed it early in this thread.
  2. Two changes I'd like to see, neither of which I think has any chance of happening: - eliminate more post-season off days. They play 162 games with a five man rotation and then all of the post season travel days allow teams to shorten the rotation. - East Coast bias here, but start the night games earlier.
  3. Astros bench coach Joe Espada has been mentioned as a younger guy they might be interested in. I'm not sure if Brodie would want to deal with someone established like Girardi or Showalter.
  4. First move is whether he keeps Callaway or not. That needs to get decided soon, supposedly in the next few days. I think Callaway is a bad in-game manager but I have to admit the team played hard for him even when it looked bleak and then after they got eliminated.
  5. If you're going to San Francisco Be sure to wear flowers in your hair
  6. You're either ignorant, delusional or trolling if you think that if Brady was on the receiving end of a similar hit it wouldn't be handled differently. We've seen just the opposite repeatedly. You're insinuation that Josh 'got what he deserved' because he's reckless or not an all time great makes no sense to me. I already acknowledged that Josh sets himself up for this type of hit. That doesn't it excuse the hit - unless you're a Pats fan that thinks there are rules for Marcia and other rules for everyone else.
  7. When do the Raiders complete the trifecta of bad signings? Richie Incognito can't be too far behind, can he?
  8. I agree that Josh sets himself up for this type of hit and needs to learn to slide. But... Intention can only be known by one man: the guy who made the hit. I saw the replay, guy seemed pretty proud of the hit. Maybe he was just proud of finishing a play, maybe not. Can you honestly say that if Brady was on the receiving end the NFL wouldn't be reviewing further?
  9. I only saw the 2nd quarter and part of the 3rd yesterday. Watched the replay a short while ago and literally my first two thoughts are bolded above.
  10. Thanks for sharing, there's a good chance I would have heard that today but I was out of town. Actually watched the 2nd quarter and opening drive of the 3rd (TD!) about a block away from Fenway surrounded by Pats fans. I was buying a beer for myself water for my boys in Fenway when I saw Josh going into the tent on TV. Looks like I missed a nice end to the season for the Mets. Read about how they took Alonso off the field so he could get one last round of applause and then Dom had his season ending moment on his first swing in weeks as Alonso's replacement. Good stuff.
  11. Just got back from one myself. I never went to HS football games until my kid hit HS. Level of play is actually pretty good, but there are definitely some men among boys. First game I went to was 2 years ago and there was this kid on the other team that was a one man wrecking crew. WR, LB and kicker. Felt bad for the DB. Turns out he was the top rated TE in the country even though he had never played TE and went to Ohio State the following year.
  12. On a stretcher if you're TB.
  13. How could anyone be so unkind To arrest a man for drivin' while blind
  14. Summer breeze, makes me feel fine, blowing through the jasmine in my mind
  15. You saw the stadium and didn't suffer through a Yankee win. Mission accomplished.
  16. Suggestion had more to do with the name. Hell, I'd drink it if I thought the sports gods approved.
  17. I can't vouch for the beer since I don't care for IPA's, but this one's a....
  18. Mets have to win out and Brewers have to lose out, that's the only path left to a post-season game - which I think would be a tie-breaker with the Brew Crew and the winner playing the GNats in the wild card.
  19. I was at the Mets game last night. Made it through in shorts and short sleeves. Can't say the same for wife and kid - wind was kicking pretty good. Actually didn't make it to the end - which is a cardinal sin IMO - listened to the tying HR on the drive home and then watched the end on TV which was weird. Gotta love that there's no quit in the team. Hats off to the Brew Crew for the run they are on.
  20. More spoken word than song lyric and not at all mainstream: Sam With The Showing Scalp Flat Top (Zappa/Beefheart) I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence. Back to our regularly scheduled broadcast: Once again the roadrunnerLeaves the coyote in the dirtYou've got another plan of actionBut we all know it ain't never gonna work
  21. I was watching a local sports show yesterday and thought the same exact thing. It's incredible how he's gone from ridiculed draft pick to their '10 year starter' (someone actually said that) after a few pre-season games and one start. I wonder if the narrative would be the same had the TB kicker hit the chip shot.
  22. I hope they feel the same at 4:15 today.
  23. Lord Almighty, I feel my temperature rising
