  1. Best home first inning in 40 years. Wheeler strikes out 11 but gives up 9 hits. Not sure what to make of that, maybe just a sign of the times. The positive for me is he went 7 and the pitch count was probably around 110. He used to routinely get to that number in 5 innings or less.
  2. Mets up 11-2 and Gary and Keith go to one of my favorites - the box of baseball cards comes out. First one Gary pulls is Manny Mota. As I type Keith is extolling the virtues of Clay Carroll. EDIT: a bonus mention of Bernie Carbo
  3. A pint of beer and a pretty girl, a pack of Camel Lights Another night, another bar...green neon lights Smoke acts as a camouflage for every lizard with a line Forget about the pretty girl, a Saranac will do just fine
  4. Thanks, good points, wasn't challenging you. On top of that Reed played for Rex, Rex brought him to Buffalo and three years later he's calling out Rex's staff when he hasn't had a coaching job since. Not a good look.
  5. Curious why you wonder that. Because Reed didn't respect non-player coaches? Something else?
  6. Hey you, don't watch that, watch this This is the heavy heavy monster sound The nuttiest sound around So if you've come in off the street And you're beginning to feel the heat Well, listen buster You better start to move your feet To the rockinest, rock-steady beat Of madness One step beyond
  7. 8 batters in, 7-0 and the only out was McNeil getting thrown out at third. Wish I had actually seen it - my boys were playing video games.
  8. Whaddya gonna give me? It looks just like a Telefunken U-47 You'll love it With leather?
  9. My baby called me up She said, "Why don't you ever take me out? Pick me up in your brand new car You shake the short change from your old fruit jar" I put on my dancin' shoes We headed straight for the rhythm and blues The music was hot, but my baby was not I've got a rocket in my pocket I said a rocket Finger in the socket

  12. Now when the day goes to sleep and the full moon looks And the night is so black that the darkness cooks And you come creeping around, making me do things I don't want to do Can't believe that she needs my love so bad Come sneaking around, trying to drive me mad Busting in all my dreams, making me see things I don't want to see Cause you're the Green Manalishi with the two-pronged crown
  13. Well the D.A. was pumping my left hand And a she a holding my right And I told her don't get scared Cause you're gonna be spared I gotta be forgiven If I want to spend my living with A long cool woman in a black dress Just a five nine Beautiful Tall With just one look I was a bad mess 'Cause that long cool woman had it all
  14. Looks like Lowrie may return as early as Friday. According to the article below he'll get playing time at 3B over Frazier, J.D. Davis and Broxton are 'candidates to depart'. It would be a bold move by VW to cut ties with Frazier, but my guess is they'll kick that can down the road and option Davis instead. https://nypost.com/2019/05/08/jed-lowries-return-to-the-mets-lineup-is-imminent/
  15. I'm standing at the altar As they play the wedding march I'm in a black tuxedo with my collar full of starch She looks as lovely as she's ever gonna get I wake up from this nightmare in a pool of sweat Oh no, please not that again Love rears up its ugly head

  17. I don't care if you never come home I don't mind if you just keep on rowin' away on a distant sea 'Cause I don't love you and you don't love me You cause a commotion when you come to town You give 'em a smile and they melt And your lovers and friends is all good and fine But I don't like yours and you don't like mine
  18. Got out really early from the factoryDrivin' like a nut in the rainDon't think I was actin' so hystericallyBut I didn't see a thing until it cameMet the dumb suburbos in the takeawayBeating up the Chinee at the counterI put a few inside me at the end of the dayI took out my revenge on the revolution counter
  19. I'll give the offense a pass for one night. Padres rookie pitcher has been dominant so far. Came in with a 1.91 ERA. Struck out 11 last night. But after McNeil. Alonso and maybe Conforto there hasn't been enough production. Cano really needs to get out of his funk.
  20. Well the girls would turn the color Of the avocado when he would drive Down their street in his El Dorado He could walk down your street And girls could not resist his stare Pablo Picasso never got called an @sshole
  21. Let us have peace, let us have life Let us escape the cruel night Let us have time, let the sun shine Let us beware the deadly sign The day is coming Armageddon's near Inferno coming Can we survive the blitzkrieg
  22. Just saw that Vargas was pulled with an injury today. Didn't see the game and assumed he got pulled due to the two times through the lineup mentality. And Matz is headed to NY to check on a nerve issue he's been dealing with. Uh oh https://nypost.com/2019/05/05/steven-matz-sent-home-as-mets-injury-alarms-keep-going-off/
  23. I would love to see the Mets be bold enough and release Frazier outright. Between McNeil, J.D. Davis and Lowrie's return he just isn't needed - even for depth. And assuming he has options, Nimmo should spend some time at AAA and get himself right.
  24. Creative modern broadcasting. Somewhere around the 14th inning, the Mets broadcast zoomed in on a white bucket in the Brewers bullpen labeled 'JJ's Secret Stash'. The back story was that it contained grape bubble gum for Jeremy Jeffress. Mets announcers challenged their stadium reporter Steve Gelbs to bring them some gum from the secret stash. A few innings later they show footage of a Brewers catcher collecting grape gum (but not from JJ's secret stash) into cups that he tosses up to Gelbs. Gelbs delivers the gum to the booth and they have a laugh that it didn't come from JJ's bucket..
  25. When your day is long And the night The night is yours alone When you're sure you've had enough Of this life Well hang on Don't let yourself go 'Cause everybody cries And everybody hurts sometimes
