  1. If Allen took a 30 yard sack that flipped the field, I'm sure Twitter would provide some nuanced, thoughtful takes on the situation.
  2. Finding a QB who can get you into playoff contention isn't that hard if all the other pieces are in place, especially with seven playoff spots available. This year's Colts team is a good example. They had a pretty good roster already, plugged in an aging veteran who figures to give them maybe two years of production, and here they are. Finding a QB who elevates your team into a legit super bowl contender is a lot harder. It took us two decades and change. Some teams luck and out get to draft a top prospect -- again, Indianapolis is a good example. But that's tough to do without bottoming out.
  3. A win on Sunday would be nice, but our expectation at this point should be for one or two regular season wins like this every year. We should expect to win our share of games against the top echelon of the NFL. I still occasionally watch clips of that play from time to time. Probably the biggest play of my lifetime and it didn't even involve any Bills being on the field.
  4. Same here. If we had beaten KC, we might have a realistic chance of catching them with just one or two breaks. But we didn't, and the fact is that it's highly unlikely that we pass them for the #1 seed. And of course, there's also the little matter of also being behind the Steelers even with a win on Sunday. That's all too much of a parlay for me. Just give me a Miami loss and the AFC East, please. Edit: We're not getting a first round bye, but we can definitely arrange for week 17 to be meaningless.
  5. I don't really care if Mahomes is league MVP as long as Josh is Super Bowl MVP.
  6. It was only just a few years ago -- 2018 to be precise -- when Nathan Peterman was our starting QB in the first week of the season.
  7. I feel like that's the case for most "next gen" stats. If you can't explain them and the results don't match up with what I'm seeing on the field, they're probably just unhelpful.
  8. Now more than ever, this is a QB-driven league. Pittsburgh is going to have to find a replacement for Big Ben sooner rather than later. They have a good shot at a title this year and I don't mean to take anything away from them, but their window is closing and ours has just opened.
  9. I was at that game! The first two weeks of the season, the Bills were thoroughly blown out and honestly didn't even look like they belonged on the same field with another NFL team. Then they head into Minnesota which was considered a super bowl contender at the time. Game is going to be a laugher, but I don't get the chance to see the Bills very often and I wanted to attend a game during Allen's rookie year, so I made the 3.5 hour drive to MSP to meet up with my son (student at U of M) and take in what figured to be a very bad game. Instead Allen was the best player on the field, and we got to see the hurdle in person. Seriously though, I was sold for real sometime last year. Not sure when, but by midseason I was convinced.
  10. Love this guy. Imagine when Smoke is back for the playoffs (knock on wood). This is a ridiculously good receiving corps. Two years ago, Allen was throwing to Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, and Robert Foster. How things have changed.
  11. This team reminds me so much of the SB era team, in the sense that these players have real personalities that shine through. Obviously it's a little different in the sense that they all seem to get along and there's none of the surliness that we all probably remember vaguely from guys like Thomas, Reed, and Smith. But man, after years and years of having a roster filled with guys who just wanted to collect a paycheck, this is great. I couldn't ask for a better team to root for.
  12. Next week is definitely an opportunity for all three teams to gain some ground, but let's keep it in perspective. We'll still control our own destiny in the division even if we lose and the two pretenders pull off upsets.
  13. Not sure I would go quite this far, but it's worth noting that he put up 375 and 4 TDs and it was almost a boring, workmanlike performance. The guy stood back there, consistently hit the open guy, moved the chains, and just strung together long drives. No need for any heroics. We know the crazy video games play are there when we need them, but it's really nice to see your QB incinerate a defense without needing to do anything too flashy.
  14. Not sure that it's "game ball" worthy, but McKenzie had a big gainer and a TD on two extremely well-designed plays. I remember this summer when there was at least some question as to whether he would even make our roster or not. Sure he's kind of a gadget player, but that's a wrinkle to our offense that none of our other WRs provide.
  15. No tables were broken, so I think we're in the clear.
  16. [Do you feel bad for Gregg Williams?] I feel bad for Gregg Williams the same way I feel bad for other people who are both mind-numbingly incompetent and slightly evil while pulling down 7-figure salaries. Which is not very.
  17. Yes, we are technically going to be first in the AFCE regardless of what happens this weekend.
  18. Man, today's games have really sucked. Wish the Bills had been on.
  19. I'll take Posts That Aged Badly In Less Than 30 Seconds for $1000.
