"Bridge" QBs are Worthless
Blokestradamus replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And, in the event of that future QB taking the reigns, you have an experienced backup and (hopefully) a veteran presence to act as another coach. Hence why I kinda like the quotes today attributed to Josh McCown about going to a team with a young QB. -
NFL Combine List: Chad Kelly Not Invited
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, rational thought process and Chad seldom go together so hardly a surprise that he chose an agent that's also a moron. They release the reason and it's probably not great (probably because of his expulsion from Clemson, not a secret but a dead subject becomes a talking point again). He shows up and they start getting aggressive/abusive, even worse. Can't win either way. -

My favourite: @LukeMayeux Luke Mayeux Retweeted Jeff-LJ-Lloyd well it's not like forcefully arriving somewhere he isn't welcome has ever gone wrong for Chad Kelly before -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
That's the only sticking point I have with him. I still have him graded pretty high (no higher than WR5 on my current list, maybe 6-7 by the end of it) mainly because I think he's about as safe a pick as there is at WR outside of Davis. He's a staggeringly easy evaluation, just depends on what you value. As a high volume slot guy in a WCO, I can justify him in the 2nd. The bigger issues, like with Jarvis Landry, is the volume will demand a lot at 2nd contract but the skill set isn't broad enough to justify that outlay. He's likely only a 4-year rental. Edit - I respect Landry's skill set and all but I ain't paying this for that - http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/jarvis-landry-14473/market-value/ -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
A lot of it depends on who returns from the Woods/Goodwin/Hunter bunch and which FA's come in pre-draft. Robinette could be a like-for-like replacement for what Hunter does well. There's a ton of mid-late round slot guys in this class (some big, some small) that I like for the right value. Davis is the clear #1 but, after him, Williams, JuJu and maybe Chris Godwin, not a lot of true boundary guys that I like. -
The only Mahomes thread you need

The more I see quotes attributed to him, the more I worry about his health. I think he's losing his capacity. Stark contrast between what Bill was and what he is. -

I wrote a little something on Jalen Robinette, the Air Force WR. He's raw but he's already nuanced in a couple of ways that'll translate. http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/02/22/bills-2017-nfl-draft-targets-air-force-wr-jalen-robinette-scouting-report/ -
Tyrod Taylor passed the physical
Blokestradamus replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Siemian also threw more passes, completing them at a lower rate. Total yardage was similar, Taylor had him beat on INT %, total TD's, passer rating. -

Bills re-sign Ramon Humber

You lot might mock it but this was one of the few depth guys I wanted back. Ramon Humber lays the lumber. -

It's effective in making defenders drop the passes he throws right to them. Think positive -
One thing to bear in mind with your cap space projections that I've just come across. Both Preston Brown and Seantrel Henderson are eligible for a Proven Performance Escalator. That figure is set at the low tariff for RFA tender, likely to be around $1.8m each. So there's roughly another $2m added onto the cap. With his illness and suspension, expect to see Seantrel go bye-bye real fast.

Combine invites got released - http://www.nfl.com/combine/participants?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral No Chad Kelly in any capacity so pretty sure we can just stop talking about him now. -
Coach McDermott is very quiet

As a blogger, I already miss Rex -
Have we given much thought to him playing WLB next year? Seems like his playing goal is 235 pounds which doesn't seem to suggest that he's looking to be a full-time pass rusher. Base downs playing off-ball LB, rotational rusher on 3rd down & obvious passing situations?

Since we get weekly PFF previews and post-game analysis, I can tell you that after Week 16, Ajayi had 0 sacks, 1 QB hit, 3 hurries to his name. Don't know how his Week 17 fared though. Ajayi was asked to pass block on 62 snaps. His pass block grade was 58.0, in comparison to Shady's 37.1. Shady's 92 pass pro snaps were the 5th-highest number of any back in the entire NFL. Other notable RB pass pro grades - Bell (81.7), Elliott (60.1), D Johnson (63.4), Gordon (77.6), Howard (80.7). Jonathan Stewart had the highest grade of 85.3.

Watched a little bit of Wagner last night and wrote about him as well. Really good pass blocker. Quick feet, long, times his punch well despite his hands hanging round his knees in his kick slide. Alright run blocker but struggles to sustain because he plays quite high. All in all, he makes more sense if we pass more (Dennison's recent seasons suggests we might) but I'd be capping my offer around $6-6.5m/year for him and hope that his prior relationship with Juan Castillo might give us a shot at him taking a little less to stick with someone he knows.

Allen is the guy that I'm anticipating waiting in that green room for a while in Philly. Don't get me wrong, he's a phenomenal technician but I don't think he tests that well. Teams often overthink it, especially when the likes of Malik McDowell and Solomon Thomas will test much better. Then there's the talk around his shoulder issues. Gut feeling is that he makes it to 10 and we pass.

2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
If Chris Godwin had any sort of consistency to his game, he would be WR2 in this class. His ceiling is Mike Evans-ish. Makes some stupid catches but drops some easy ones. Has so many failures at the catch point and doesn't fight back to the ball. Isn't the fastest guy but has good releases at the LOS, uses his hands well early and can use them like a crafty vet late in the route to create space between him and the CB. Route running can be fine tuned but he's got some explosion on in-breaking routes at intermediate level. His blocking is really impressive, uses his length well and he's not afraid to mix it up blocking down on LBs and safeties. Probably a 3rd round grade because he's so damn infuriating but I'd take a punt on his potential. Should be a very nice fit for Rick Dennison. -

At this point, just make a 33rd team and let me have it. Or one of those summer league teams. Feed my addiction I'll say it until I'm blue in the face. The only guy that can stop Reggie fitting at Mike is Reggie. Kid needs to be serious about keeping his playing weight down. He was a solid athlete playing at 250+ but he needs words with his buddy, Reuben. Shed the weight, keep the functional strength. In this day and age, there's no plausible reason for a linebacker to be above 240 pounds. Eat a salad, fat boy. -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
Blokestradamus replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
Given how late in the season he tore his ACL, I'd imagine that he'll miss a significant portion of the preseason build-up. Might start the year on the PUP list. The problem is no chance for pre-draft athletic testing. Tough to put a value on a player that might not be the guy you watched on tape. Same worries I have with Ragland. -

Advanced warning - in 11 months time, I will start a draft process love affair with Northwestern safety Godwin Igwebuike. You have been warned.
