  1. Fair enough as a lot of rookie WRs don't typically contribute much in their first year. My only thing is getting a premier WR via the draft would be far cheaper/better for our cap than in free agency as long as we hit on the pick (easier said than done). Definitely open to the idea though, any free agent WRs that interest you and/or that would be a good fit on the Bills?
  2. Cut Murphy AND Star and use the money saved to re-sign Jordan Phillips and then either Shaq or one of the few high-end DEs available. If it were me, I'd send that jet to Ngakoue at 12:01 AM on the first day of free agency. A front four of Hughes/Oliver/J. Phillips/Ngakoue with Horrible Harry rotating in would be huge for us.
  3. Agreed ? However, I think if we are to make any splashy moves in FA (after re-signing/extending our guys), there are a few top DEs and edge players available that we could potentially go for. If we are drafting in the mid-20s, IDK if we could pick up a player in the late 1st round that could be reasonably expected to match the production of a Clowney/Ngakoue type. On the flip side, I think there's great WR depth in the top 2 rounds of this draft. In a dream scenario, would love to see us get Henry Ruggs III/Chase Claypool in the 1st and then grab a #2 CB or replacement for Lorax in the 2nd followed by a thunder type RB in the 3rd. Filling out OL/DL/LB depth the rest of the way.
  4. Also, NFL Network just tweeted that the Ravens have lost Matt Skura (their likely Pro Bowl center) for the season to a knee injury (sorry not sure how to link!). Hate to see players suffer serious injuries like that, but better believe that's going to have an impact on their rushing attack/overall offense and they won't have long to adjust before our match up with them.
  5. With their best nose tackle (Woods) and their co-best LB (Vander Esch) both out, I think the Bills run game is seriously open for business. Their replacements are below average (Joe Thomas) and/or inexperienced (Trystan Hill). I believe Dallas is ranked just 18th against the run and it's probably fair to say that they would be 6-7 spots farther back without these two starters. Heath might also miss this game (I wouldn't be surprised- did anyone else see the hit he put on Jakobi Meyers on Sunday???). Keep running up-tempo with Daboll calling lots of play action and jet sweeps from the box and we should be able to put up 20+ points on these guys. As for our defensive gameplan, give Tre White the tape of how Gilmore covered Amari Cooper and we should be fine there. I'm actually more worried about Gallup and Cobb, but our entire secondary has raised their game lately including Wallace. The Cowboys O-line, while very talented, is banged up (just like Denver's was) and I'm optimistic that we can get pressure on Dak (just give Lawson 100% of Murphy's snaps already!). I know the narrative seems to be that Dallas is more desperate, but doesn't that also mean that all the pressure is on them? If we stay loose, don't beat ourselves, and play fearless like the last two weeks, we can absolutely win this game. Go Bills!
  6. Great play fake and execution as you mentioned. I think there's potential to use Von Miller's aggression against him using these RPOs on Sunday. Let's bring back the jet sweeps as well! He obviously talks smack about his own team too (Exhibit A above), but Omar Kelly will never say a good word about the Bills (or any team besides the Dolphins). He is the actual worst.
  7. Yeah 100%, you make a good point. If Ruggs could be a process guy/non-evil version of Tyreek Hill for our offense, I think we'd all sign up for that! How could you defend Ruggs/John Brown/Robert Foster at once if Josh can find his deep passing ability again? Who would be your later round WR targets? And any other draft propsects you're liking for the Bills? Speaking of Alabama WRs, anyone else worried that Jerry Jeudy is going to wind up on the Dolphins or Jets? ? That guy is going to be a star.
  8. Louis-Jacques > Rodak x 1000. Did a few podcasts during training camp with the Buffalo Rumblings crew and seems like a decent guy as well. Not sure if Rodak was truly as biased as some people believed, but I know that this article isn't written as well or at all with him as the Bills' ESPN reporter. I actually click on ESPN Bills articles these days!
  9. Dead on, lethal speed that stands out even in the SEC. Could possibly break the 40 record at the combine. Two questions though: 1) does he last until our draft pick? and 2) is he another Smurf/would we be better off drafting a Tee Higgins/Chase Claypool type WR? And as many have said above, The Ringer is one of the best sites out there. Excellent sports/Game of Thrones/pop culture content and some good podcast as well. Was a long time Grantland reader and The Ringer is ALMOST as good.
  10. Agree 100%. In a very small sample size, it does seem like Duke has shown the ability to beat man coverage (the GW TD pass he caught against Adoree Jackson in the Titans game and the 20+ yd pass he caught over the middle in the first Miami game come to mind). Beasley deserves more targets in this respect as well. Will put Devontae Harris and Duke Dawson on skates all day.
  11. Man, a kick or punt return TD from Roberts in a game like this would be massive. He has been really close to getting one for the last few weeks, the blocking has been great as well.
  12. A few thoughts on the offensive gameplan for Sunday: - Need to bring the jet sweep back for this game and freeze Miller/their LBs...Bills averaged over 6 yards per play against Washington using the jet sweep and although the rest of that team is awful, they have a stout front 7 like the Broncos. Running up-tempo like we did vs. Miami should fatigue their huge D-line as well, the Vikings used this successfully to dominate that second half on Sunday. - Would love to see a few bootlegs and lots of play action as well to keep Fangio's defense guessing and take advantage of the Denver CBs not named Chris Harris Jr. Devontae Harris and Duke Dawson are huge weak links on that defense, we need to pick on them relentlessly (like other teams have picked on Wallace) and target Beasley more in particular. - Doubt it happens, but hoping that Duke Williams/Foster/McKenzie are all active on Sunday (surely there is a depth player at another position that could sit?). Duke gives us a size element that we have been missing, Foster's deep speed needs to be respected even if we haven't hit many deep passes this year, and McKenzie is our jet sweep/gadget play guy. - Instead of going heavy and bringing in Lee Smith, could we use Knox to help chip Miller on a handful of plays and then slip out on a TE screen? He has the athleticism to make this type of play work and we should look for ways to use Denver's aggressiveness/pass rush against them. Daboll doesn't seem to think we have the players to be a screen team though... Just one guy's opinion, but we can't 'out-muscle' this defense in the trenches. However, run up-tempo, keep the defense spread out with mostly 3 or even 4 WR sets, and give their LBs/edge players a lot of distraction that they have to react to = a Bills win and our best start through 11 games since the 90s. Go Bills!
  13. I believe DiMarco only got 4 snaps this past Sunday, but he also annihilated an LB on that same play as well. It was great to see since our short yardage play execution was uncharacteristically poor against Cleveland.
  14. Nice, yeah he has really started to produce at a level matching his physical talents this year. And you make a good point in that he's a great person with a lot of motivation as well and being from Canada (BC I think) won't mind the cold weather. Claypool with our second pick would be a steal...fingers crossed. Good chat man, go Bills!
  15. Any chance you're an ND fan as well? I was just talking about Claypool a few posts back...what a game on Saturday! I am impatiently waiting for tickets to become available for the 2020 Notre Dame-Navy game here in Dublin! ? And before anyone says it was only Navy, they had the 25th ranked defense in the country before the game. Claypool has bossed it against strong and weak competition alike, his biggest limitation as I mentioned above is the surprisingly disappointing production from QB Ian Book this year. Claypool is exactly the type of WR we don't currently have and desperately need!
  16. Like what you did there... Both guys you mentioned are great prospects and fit our need for a bigger WR who can elevate, provide a large catch radius, and win contested 50/50 balls. If I can add a name to your list, I'd suggest Chase Claypool (WR- Notre Dame). He's a physical specimen at 6'4" 229 lbs and has 9 TDs in ten games this year. He's limited by somewhat average QB play but has made huge plays when targeted and has been described that your usual 50/50 balls are more like 80/20 in his favor. Probably a guy we could get in the 2nd or 3rd and would provide Josh with a big target who can still separate and beat the man across from him consistently.
  17. Great shout! My first time watching LSU this year was their 'Game of the Century' hyped showdown against Bama two Saturdays ago (hard for me to stay up for a lot of the games with the time difference living in Ireland)...this guy absolutely jumped off the screen. Incredible awareness of where the first down marker was and the strength + sneaky elusiveness to get there. Made Raekwon Davis and a few of the other future 1st rounders on Bama's defense look silly...would LOVE to see him in a Bills uniform next year!
  18. Fair point, I would have agreed that 9-7 might do the trick a few weeks ago b/c I didn't take the Raiders or the Steelers (w/ Rudolph at QB) seriously. However, both of these teams have built a lot of positive momentum and I believe the Raiders have the easiest remaining schedule in the league. The next two weeks against Miami and Denver plus the games against Pittsburgh and the Jets loom large as "must wins" for us to get to 10 victories and hopefully make the playoffs on our own strength (let's give our favorite red-head from Cincinnati the day off this year! He's benched so he can't save us anyways). To your second point, everyone cross your fingers for a Browns win tonight. Would help us in the WC race and also probably make us feel a bit better about last week's loss. Let's hope the Steelers go on a losing streak and have nothing left to play for by the time we face them. I'm planning to book tickets soon for the Jets game on Dec 29th and I just really hope that game still means something when the time comes... ?
  19. What's the over/under on the number of snaps played by Wilkins before getting ejected this week? ? Still not sure what was said or done that triggered his reaction (does anyone know???)...he was universally praised as a high-character guy coming out of Clemson and I liked him as a draft prospect. Not flashy but solid and one of the few pieces they have to build around on that side of the ball.
  20. Yes of course, he's played in the league for ages on several different teams, but as K-9 mentioned above, I meant that with Rosen starting during the early part of the Dolphins season, there was not much video for our defense to scout in terms of Fitz throwing to Miami's WRs. I am sure that some of the playbook/passing concepts changed with the switch from Rosen to Fitz. Regardless, my main point is that I think the Bills defense will be able to apply some lessons learned to this second match up with the Fish. And I'm not a Wallace hater (CBs get beat sometimes and he's a young developing player), but I am hoping to see a bit more of Kevin Johnson in this game to see what he can bring to the table.
  21. Understand the pessimism following what might be the most 'Bill-sy' loss we've had so far this year, but a few positives for this week IMO: 1) While Miami appears to be playing better and starting to believe in themselves these last 2 weeks, the talent gap between Cleveland and the Dolphins is insane...is there one healthy/active player on Miami's roster who would start over the equivalent player in Cleveland's lineup (not that they are the Pats or anything)? Reshad Jones if he's able to get healthy this week is the only one I can think of... 2) No Preston Williams or Mark Walton in this game is huge for us as they began the run of exposing Wallace and our run defense a few weeks ago. We *SHOULD* be able to contain Ballage and Albert Wilson and hopefully use this game as a way to experiment and fix our run D/#2 CB spot. 3) The first time we played Miami, there wasn't a ton of game tape available on Fitz yet. Logically, I believe that seeing him a second time in such a short period of time will benefit our defense. Wondering if this situation could be viewed similarly to a starting pitcher's decline in performance the second/third time through the lineup in baseball... Have a lot of faith that we will get the W and that BillsMafia will give us a 'home field' advantage on the road. Go Bills!
  22. Very surprised with the Browns' clock mgmt strategy here...hope it backfires
