  1. Feel better Bill! You're one of my favorite posters and I look forward to your thoughts on the game each week. All the best.
  2. A few observations after just watching the Bengals' comeback win vs the Seahawks in Cincy on GamePass... Dalton- having a huge year and made some nice throws to all parts of the field. Good pocket presence and looked quick on a few designed read-option plays. Sells play-action well. Cincy also runs a lot of these 'fake handoff in one direction and then quick pass in the opposite direction' type plays...they never gained much yardage against Seattle and hopefully Gilmore or Darby can recognize and jump these routes for a potential pick-six. Holds the ball longer than any QB we've faced since Tannehill...maybe our D-line can take advantage. Threw one pick and Sherman III had another slip through his hands. Jeremy Hill/Gio Bernard- Hill looked slow and must have only averaged about a yard per carry, didn't look like the guy who dominated on my fantasy football team last year. Bernard looked as shifty and quick as advertised, he will be difficult to stop. Did drop a few passes thrown to him, but I think he's usually more reliable catching the ball. AJ Green- Best WR in the league this year other than Julio Jones IMO. Seattle played Cary Williams on him for the first half in single coverage for some reason and Green won almost all those battles. The Seahawks wised up in the 2nd half and gave Williams safety help over the top...I think Gilmore (and maybe even Darby) will be a much tougher matchup for Green, but we might need to do the same. Not too worried about their other WRs, but Green and Eifert will open up opportunities for them. Tyler Eifert- his emergence is the biggest factor in Dalton's breakout season. Once Seattle doubled Green, Eifert started to go off. Did benefit from a broken coverage on his second TD, but we need to make him our number one priority on defense. I think Bradham has the speed to stick with him, but Wagner and KJ Wright are great LBs too and Eifert was constantly open to bail out Dalton...not sure what we do here. Cincy O-line- went into the game thinking that they were a bona fide top 5 line in the NFL. Granted, it was against Seattle, but I thought they had a shaky performance. Running game wasn't that effective, looked better in pass protection. Michael Bennett absolutely tore their interior linemen apart, getting into the backfield in less than a second on a number of occasions and forcing a fumble that was returned for a TD. Allowed a few sacks and got called for at least three holding penalties. Looked susceptible to speed rushers so Hughes could have a big day in particular. Cincy Defense- Randomly got carved up by Thomas Rawls (an undrafted rookie from Central Michigan) to the tune of 160+ yards, looked like they miss Burfict. Despite that, their defensive line looked pretty good and will make life tough on our O-line this week, may need to leave a back in to help out against them. Dunlap is the league's sack leader and was in Russell Wilson's face a lot. Pacman Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick are good corners. A good to great defense overall, but showed that they can be run on. Big win against a tough opponent (although I think Seattle showed that they have slipped a bit from where they were in the last two years), but I came away from this game less impressed with Cincy than I expected and I feel a little better about the Bills' chances. Still not completely sold on Dalton and I think we can make him uncomfortable with our pass rush and force him into mistakes. They may run no huddle or get the ball out quicker like Brady and Manning did against us, but I think that would actually neutralize Green and Eifert a bit, taking away some of the longer routes they've been most successful with. A lot more optimistic for this game now. The Ralph will be rocking and fingers crossed that we can get mostly everyone back healthy. Go Bills!
  3. Love these guys from soccer/World Cup/NBC Sports and just watched all of these clips as well. As a side note, Gus Bradley seems like a great coach...if we didn't have Rex already, I'd be jealous. Wonder how Bradley's non-stop optimism and Marrone's endless pessimism are meshing...
  4. Bradham has really developed into a 3 down LB who can cover. Felt like he used to be a liability in that area...good for him
  5. Still new and getting used to the vibe around here. I posted this with a bit of humor (see the TO key to the city reference etc.) but maybe that didn't come across all the way, my bad. It's definitely too early as I said at the start and there's a ton of season left, but it's just something to wonder about while still enjoying the season. I really like Roman so far and I hope he's here for the long-term. The Pegulas could definitely pay him HC type money and there are a couple perks they could probably throw in, but if he wants an HC gig, I'd wish him well. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out. Fingers crossed that we do so well that this becomes a legitimate concern down the line.
  6. 30-17 Bills. OBJ and Randle worry me a bit, but the rest of their team doesn't really scare me and I think we have a much more talented, balanced roster. Cruz being ruled out is a huge break and Watkins/McCoy being out for us is being overblown...we've basically been playing and succeeding without them anyways. Home field advantage at the Ralph has never been bigger as well...Go Bills!
  7. The thing is, it's not really even a debate. Mostly everyone agrees that it would be ideal for a QB to sit for at least a year, hold a clipboard, and learn as the backup. The problem is getting ownership, the FO/coaching staff, and the fan base to all sign up for that delayed gratification. Somewhere along the way (Luck and Co. being so good so fast didn't help), everyone got so impatient. It's early, but Tyrod has the athleticism and mental makeup of a real top-tier QB in this league that Trent and Fitz never did. Now the key is to draft a QB this year (maybe second to fourth round) to back him up and learn from Taylor the way he did from Flacco. Agree?
  8. Thought it made sense to have him on the team before the season for all the reasons you mentioned above, but his play at RB has really regressed from last year. He used to grind out some decent runs and always fell forward for a couple extra yards. Reliable in the red zone and I can't remember him ever fumbling. But he's had a bad season so far, can't recall his name even being mentioned on ST this year either. He's still great as a teammate/locker room guy but he needs to pick it up on the field a bit. As a side note, I think they should promote Cierre Wood from the PS and use him as the backup to Karlos. He's pretty good, great college player and I thought he did rather well in preseason.
  9. There's a lot of season left and it's probably too early to have this conversation, but if the offense keeps plugging away the way it has, Greg Roman's going to be a top candidate for just about every head coaching job around after this season. After so many years of watching terrible OCs, I'd really hate to see him to go. However, I remember seeing an article from the offseason where Roman said he interviewed for HC gigs when he was with SF, but that teams got tired of waiting as the 49ers went deep into the playoffs. It sounds like he would definitely like to be a HC and I think Rex and the Bills FO would respect that...but for the sake of this conversation, what could the Bills do to convince him to stay? The Pegulas could definitely give him head coach type money and an assistant head coach title...what else? T.O.'s key to the city? A guarantee that we spend all draft picks next year on the offense? Get crazy with it, let's make him an offer he can't refuse! Go Bills!
  10. Nice spot GG, interesting article. Didn't know a ton about Roman before he got here other than 49ers fans hated him, but he's been impressive here since Day 1 and we're lucky to have him. Granted, we brought in some more weapons and Taylor has been better than anyone expected so far, but night and day difference with the offense and play-calling compared to Hackett last year...anyone else miss those 1 yard HB dives up the middle on every 1st and 2nd down?!
  11. As everyone said above, we've been burned too many times before. This team does feel different than those ones though and it's good to have the stats on our side this time around!
  12. Watched the All-22 of the Giants' Week 3 victory over Washington and came away with the following observations: 1. Eli Manning takes ages at the line of scrimmage (even more than Luck did in Week 1). Giants were forced to take a couple timeouts. He likes to read the defense and call audibles, but I think this could play to our advantage like it did against the Colts. 2. On the flip side, Manning was getting the ball out quick against Washington despite their lack of a pass rush. Was connecting on a lot of short passes and crossing routes, but Manning missed almost everything that was 10+ yards downfield. The one successful vertical throw was a TD to Beckham Jr. and he underthrew him. OBJ did what he does and adjusted to the ball perfectly for the score. If we can jam their WRs and make Manning wait, I think our D-line should be able to dominate. 3. Dwayne Harris looks like a dangerous returner just as he was for Dallas. Our special teams haven't looked quite as solid this year, hopefully Easley, Brooks, and the coverage team will keep this guy contained. 4. The Giants' running game was really poor. Their run-blocking didn't hold up about 50% of the time and Jennings/A. Williams looked slow and lacked vision. Vereen (notorious Bills-killer) looked very average in a different jersey which was great to see. We should be able to focus mostly on the pass in this one. 5. The Giants didn't blitz very often or get a pass rush on Kirk Cousins (no sacks as far as I remember). Made some good plays in coverage, Prince Amukamara had a nice INT and Landon Collins looks like he will be a strong player for them. Robert Ayers and DRC should be back for this game unfortunately, but overall their defense looked fairly average even against a below average Washington offense. Tyrod should get time in the pocket to throw or to run...as a side note, I'd love to see him run more than he has the last two weeks provided he learns how to slide properly! 6. Chris Culliver and DeAngelo Hall kept OBJ rather quiet until Hall was knocked out of the game with an injury. OBJ took advantage of the CB that was subbed in after that. Made me more confident that Gilmore and Darby can handle him though. 7. Jordan Reed had a big day against the Giants' LBs and safeties. I like the matchup for Charles Clay this week, let's keep feeding the big guy! 8. The Giants rotated their defensive players more than I've ever seen before. Must have had almost equal snaps between a lot of the starters and their backups. 9. Victor Cruz being ruled out is a huge break for us, but Reuben Randle isn't a slouch either. Had a strong game against Washington, always seemed to get separation and is tough to bring down after the catch. If the Bills can take OBJ and Randle away (much easier said than done I know), the Giants don't really have any other weapons. 10. Daniel Fells is Manning's safety valve...doesn't look dangerous but Manning looks for him a lot on 3rd downs and as a checkdown option. He's got an injury; if he doesn't play, our defense will be able to make Manning even more uncomfortable. That's all I've got...the Giants have a few playmakers, but I like this match up for our guys. Go Bills!
  13. Had the same exact thought listening to that interview on WGR. Can't think of what else it would be...if that's the case, I have more respect for Cameron now than I ever did when he was coaching. And Taylor's making him look better with every play.
  14. This. We have his number big-time. Hasn't mattered what scheme/D-Coordinator we have either.
  15. My favorite was in the first half when our guy got destroyed late and out of bounds and we got called for unnecessary roughness Overall, much better day penalty-wise for us though!
  16. Jesus Rambo stop murdering Darby already! He's got the bloodlust, just hitting everyone out there...
  17. Yeah celebrate like crazy after that ST tackle down 14-0...always kills me haha
  18. If it was up to you, who would you have covering Jarvis Landry today? He's their biggest weapon and it's not even close IMO...sure hands, great route runner, always seems to find the gaps in the defense. In watching their game against the Jags, he's their go-to guy on 3rd down and Jacksonville didn't seem like they had anyone who could shut him down. We have better coaching (except for maybe the O-line...) and DBs than the Jags so I'm expecting that we won't let him have the game he did last week. If we can take Landry out of Miami's offense, I really like our chances to win this game. Go Bills!
  19. Cuse is on its way back...still hurting a bit from the Greg Robinson days, that guy did a number on us...
  20. Second installment of my weekly attempts to scout our next opponent. I went through the Dolphins-Jags All-22 on my NFL GamePass over the last two days and came up with the following observations. Trying something different this week in using a sort of ongoing timeline format. Note: no idea how to make GIFs or anything like that so apologies. Any thoughts or ideas to improve my analysis/review would be much appreciated. Go Bills! Dolphins Recap: Bortles did not have a good stat line in Week 1 vs Carolina (barely over 50% CP, two INTs including a pick six). Former Bills: Sam Young starter at LT (with Luke Joeckel out)for the Jags. Kelvin Sheppard is the starting MLB for Miami. Dolphins gave up 161 rushing yards vs Washington in Week 1. Jags have a backup FS playing SS. 100 degrees on the field. Tons of Dolphins fans at the game…might be 50-50, not much of a home field advantage for Jacksonville. First Quarter Allen Hurns beats Brice McCain for a 16 yard catch and run, McCain misses the tackle. Bortles to Allen Robinson for a 25+ yard strike beating Brent Grimes in coverage over the middle. Yeldon runs right past Suh up the middle and scores from 5 yards out…overturned by replay, 1st down at the 1. Reshad Jones isn’t blocked and stuffs Yeldon for a two yard loss…early standout for the Dolphins with a few early plays, strong in run support. Jags score on their 1st drive, Robinson beats McCain on a quick slant for the TD Tannehill throws a duck on the Dolphins’ first offensive play…maybe should have been picked, instead it gets tipped in the air and caught by Rishard Mathews for a 48 yard gain. Good throw by Tannehill to a wide open Greg Jennings and he drops it…Miami settles for a field goal. 7-3 Jags Jags get a 9 yard run up the middle by Denard Robinson to start their second drive…Robinson gets hurt and is out for the game. Walt Aikens and Koa Misi combined to tackle Yeldon in the backfield for a loss. Robinson beats McCain again for a 54 yard catch…McCain never got the head around, terrible coverage. Jags having lots of success running right up the middle…this Miami defense not impressing so far. Bortles misses a throw, Jags get a FG to go up 10-3. Miami’s second drive…short passes, Miller not having any luck running the ball. Tannehill with a big overthrow on 3rd down, Dolphins go 3 and out. Marquise Lee runs a nice reverse for 11 yards, Suh hustles downfield and makes the tackle. Jags not double teaming Suh at all though, cut blocking him a lot…Earl Mitchell (their other DT) actually getting more pressure on the QB than anyone else on their D-line at this point. Second Quarter Brandon Albert gets hurt, taken off to sideline…Tannehill takes two big hits from the Jags D-linemen soon after. Tannehill gets a nice gain on a designed QB sweep to the right that we will have to watch out for. Jelani Jenkins with a nice TFL on Yeldon. Miami leaving tons of room for Bortles to run…rushes for 26 yards on 3rd down, Miami D can’t get off the field. Miami looks susceptible to the draw play too. Suh sits out a few plays with a hyper extended knee. Bortles steps up in the pocket (hint hint Tyrod) and throws a bomb to Robinson for a TD…burns Aikens and the CB who was playing zone with a double move. Robinson’s stat line in the 1st 20 minutes of this game: 5 catches, 145 yards, and 2 TDs…ridiculous Jacksonville looks…good. When do we start considering that they might not be a joke anymore? Offense looks great, defense average. Cameron with a couple more nice receptions…runs a lot of wheel routes and can beat most LBs in coverage. Albert hurt again and limps off the field…doesn’t return for the rest of the game. Tannehill eludes pressure, rolls left, and hits Damien Williams for a short TD…looked good in the two minute drill… Franks misses a FG for Miami at end of 1st half. Jags hit a few quick passes and then tack on a 58 yard FG with no time left…20-13 Jags at the half. Third Quarter Miller looks dangerous on a screen pass…then Landry with a 36 yard catch over the middle…we need to shut him down, have Gilmore shadow him? He has a frachise record 11 straight games with 5+ catches. JaJuan James (the Dolphins right tackle) looks very shaky…beaten a couple times and responsible for 3-4 penalties as well. Jags backup safety is a weak link allowing some big plays, burned for a TD by Stoneburner to tie the game. Miami still hasn’t forced a three and out. Jags WRs running open on every play. Suh looks slow and lethargic, no sign of explosiveness that we're used to. Miller has just 14 rushing yards through 3 quarters. Kenny Stills makes his first catch (a 5 yarder) with 20 seconds left…most talkative guy on the field though which always drives me nuts. Drive amounts to nothing…20 all at the end of the 3rd qtr. Fourth Quarter Tannehill is the Dolphins leading rusher at this point with 17 yards… Pressure gets to Tannehill on a CB blitz and he throws it away on 3rd down…Miami punts. Miami takes an intentional delay of game penalty and the announcer says that the Jags should decline…interesting point that I’d never heard before. Be fun to see Rex do that and play mind games with people. Jags drop two passes and Miami finally gets a 3 and out…Jags offense has stalled the last few drives, but mostly due to self-inflicted mistakes. Cool play…Nick Marshall (former Auburn QB and hero, now an undrafted CB who made the team) blows up Landry on a punt return. JaJuan James literally watches Sergio Brown run by him while blocking no one else and take down Tannehill for the game’s first sack by either team. Rishard Mathews with a sneaky 100+ yard game…lots of short routes, hopefully Robey or Darby can win this match up. Suh makes his first real play on the day (a 1 yard TFL) with 9 min remaining in the game and proceeds to trash talk the Jags sideline. Unbelievable… Camera pans up to a section in the stands just before 3rd down and long for Miami. One guy is frantically trying to pump up the crowd while most people are staring intently at their iPhones in silence…Paul Poz with a great blitz up the middle on third down to force Tannehill to throw it away. Miami punts with 6:45 left. Dolphins coming unglued and committing tons of penalties after a disciplined first half on that front…13 penalties for 112 yards for the game. Everyone is talking about the big penalty on Olivier Vernon that set the Jags up for their game-winning FG, but there was a blatant face mask the drive before that wasn’t called that would have accomplished the same thing. Sheppard does make a big tackle to stop the Jags on 3rd and 1 with 3 min to go…Jags punt. Odrick beats the backup LT and strip-sacks Tannehill (looked a lot like the Hughes play from last week), ball rolls into the end zone before the LT actually rolls the ball out to the 1 yard line and falls on it. Odrick then deflects the pass on 2nd down, he’s having a big game and carrying the Jags defense. Miami punts. Bortles gets two big completions, Dolphins are almost playing a prevent defense for some reason with the score tied and 90 seconds to go. Just realized that Cameron Wake’s name hasn’t been mentioned all day. What I mentioned above aside, Vernon’s PF penalty is beyond idiotic. To shove the Jags player as hard as he did in plain view of everyone in that time of the game…crazy. Myers nails a 28 yard FG for the Jags with 48 seconds remaining to go up by 3 points. Jags break up a couple passes and Miami turns it over on downs. Game over. Conclusion Bad loss for Miami in what was basically a home game for them…defense looked uninspired and really let their offense down. No sacks and poor pass defense. Jags offense did what they wanted, WRs were always open and I couldn’t believe the way Yeldon ran between the tackles. Tannehill and their WRs/TEs had a nice, efficient game. No run game though and this is against a Jags D whose best player might be Jared Odrick (their former back-up). The Dolphins' playcalling was fairly simple, one statue of liberty play that worked for them, but nothing else on the creative side. Lots of their key players picked up knocks in this game and might be game time decisions for Week 3. You never know how they will react to playing in their home opener, but this Miami team looks like an major underachiever to me so far. Could be a close game, but I really believe the Bills are the more talented and balanced team. Thanks for reading, looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Can't wait for Sunday, let's go Bills!
  21. This...has the size and speed combo to match up with him. How we didn't bump Gronk off the line on every play, I'll never know. The amount of times they'd replay his route and he'd run right past Lawson or Hughes untouched was driving me nuts...move over six inches and put a shoulder into him!
  22. Agreed, Duke Williams has probably worn out his welcome with Rex. Was hopeful about him when he was drafted and he has made some positive ST contributions at times, but he's a liability at the position he gets paid to play at. Mia Khalifa calling him out was hilarious...doesn't seem like he could take a hint.
