  1. I immediately thought of .
  2. Here's a chart on 4 recent post-bubble declines.
  3. I saw the headline and I immediately thought, "No way this isn't in Florida. No. Effing. Way." Yup.
  4. Richie Aprile: "Did you ever notice he's the only mother-effer who can smoke a cigarette in the rain with his hands tied behind his back? That nose is like a natural canopy."
  5. Peerless Price demands a recount.
  6. I think you and I are looking at the same charts.
  7. That's what you took from that? Wow. Just what kind of doctor are you?
  8. Ir reminds me of the parking lot scene in "Jackie Brown". It wasn't just one thing that Bridget Fonda said to get Robert De Niro to shoot her, but he did have a breaking point. I'm not above making sweeping judgments from less than 2 minutes of soundless video: Bad girl + Bad cop = beating (good/bad/otherwise)
  9. This thread reminded me of the first 30 seconds of this clip.
  10. Adam Carolla had "Sports Guy" Bill Simmons on his podcast and they were talking about how they could remake this movie, but with a twist. It would be at a magnet school for gay boys. Shia LaBeouf would be a straight kid who pretends to be gay to get into a better school. While there he starts to think he might be gay because he's falling for a classmate. But, it's really Ellen Page pretending to be a gay guy for the same reason. Working title: "Just One of the Gays".
  11. I think, for better or worse, we've moved into a new age of transparency. The real question is, "If no banks fail this test, does it really count as a stress test?"
  12. And you can't do complex circuit analysis until you fully understand Differential Equations. Don't even try Control Systems until you master Linear Algebra. I'm having flashbacks.
  13. Oh, I think you know that answer to that.
  14. I remember that story. It was baseball.
  15. Jayson Williams killed my driver.
  16. must be part of the laity. I found it funny nonetheless.
  17. There's no AIDS virus per se. AIDS is a clinical diagnosis based on the state of your immune system (T-cell count, etc). They say you have "full-blown AIDS" as opposed to "HIV positive" once you meet certain parameters. Also, folks with AIDS eventually succumb to something like pneumonia as the virus destroys white blood cells. Please remember that I'm no expert. I learned all of this by watching the 3rd season of "The Real World" and "Philadelphia".
  18. You mean like a play-action pass? What about a pump fake? A reverse?
  19. I remember Norm MacDonald doing Weekend Update on that. Paraphrasing here: Roberto Alomar, not to be confused with Cleveland catcher Sandy Alomar, stunned the sports world when he spit on umpire John Hirschbeck while arguing a call. When reached for comment, Sandy Alomar said, "I'm Sandy Alomar, not to be confused with Roberto Alomar."
  20. I think there's something to that "frame of reference angle". January 1993 in about 18" of snow atop a ridge line at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA teaching land navigation to freshman cadets. It was a cloudless day and the sun was about as bright as it can get. Blue sky as far as the eye could see. S4 had the mess send up some chili. I was hungry, the chili was awesome and the view was spectacular. I bet the bunny was better, though.
  21. Meh, there's way too many one hit wonders. It's the two hit wonders that get my respect. Imagine having two and only two hits! My favorite? The Fine Young Cannibals (She Drives Me Crazy & Good Thing). Paula Cole is a close 2nd (Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?, I Don't Wanna Wait). I once heard that Google has some sort of cash reward if you could come up with a word or phrase that would return only two search items. I couldn't find evidence of any such challenge, but I remember hearing about it. How about 3 hit wonders? They're probably more prevalent. The Spin Doctors had Jimmy Olson Blues (Pocket Full of Kryptonite), Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, and Two Princes.
  22. Jesus Christ, we can't win anything!
  23. What's goodness? Anyway, it's just nice to see someone do their job. He's also properly crediting the others in his crew as well has the training he's received over the years. This time, hard work and fidelity to duty paid off. It's like Gilbert & Sullivan wrote it. /no homo
