  1. I know, to make it more competitive we could break Tiger's leg.... waitaminute....
  2. Oh oh... Pics of the alleged victim NSFW! Pretty damning, but I'll reserve judgment... 'cause that's what we're supposed to do, right?
  3. He seems to do that all the time. I think he does it because if he gets in the frame without it, he'll get a sweetener from Valvoline (his own sponsor). I'm just guessing.
  4. They kicked him out for making a bad movie. Can you believe that? Wiki I heard an interview with Billy Mays and they asked him about Vince. He went into character and said, "I'll put my products up against his any day. The Zorbie will kill that Sham-wow. It's got the word 'Sham' right in it. Slap chop? More like Crap chop." It was great.
  5. He really hates to lose. He put the smack-down on Guillermo.
  6. Yeah - I see what you did there.
  7. It's spelled 'heroin'. Thank you.
  8. We already have a group doing that. They're known as "The Partnership for a Drug Free America". Remember the "This is your brain on drugs" ads? They're totally awesome. Funded by the pharmaceutical industry, too. They used to also accept funding from Big Tobacco and Alcohol, but they stopped accepting that money. They do have some dignity, mind you.
  9. Puh-leeeze... I'm fully aware of the fantastic goodness of bratwurst. Did you know that Milwaukee is derived from the Algonquin for "The Good Land"?
  10. He knows. He's a lawyer. He's just making the proper threats to keep those little buggers in line.
  11. My Tivo says that there is a new episode on April 1 titled "Life is A Rock" - A mysterious caller tells Sam how he can return to 2008. Of course, it could be an Aprils Fools joke, but I don't think so.
  12. And housing prices having always gone up... Book
  13. Why don't they just clone their top producers? That's what we do. Jiminy Cricket, it's 2009 people!
  14. Wow, and she played a liberal speech/comedy writer on "The West Wing". That's range, people. Hey - Looks like Becky Slater is still available...
  15. I avoided FB for a long time. I thought that it was a fully narcissistic thing that I didn't need. About a year ago, I joined because a friend was posting some pictures of their new baby. I looked at the pictures and forgot about it. About 3 months ago, another friend was heading to Iraq and was going to keep everyone up to date via FB. So I found my password and went back in. I had 10 friend requests from people I hadn't seen in 20 years or more and I check in just about everyday. I don't participate much, but it's interesting to see what happened (is happening) to everyone. I think there are some things that are getting out of hand like passing virtual drinks, cupcakes, quizzes, etc. But all in all, it's pretty good. My favorite moment so far is when I logged on a about 2 months ago and in the section where it says "People You May Know", I saw a familiar name: Teppo Numminen. Twittering is something I recently started to do. I follow a number of "market" people who make comments and link to stories and blogs. Here's a story on FB & Twitter and how they might transform journalism.
  16. Sitting in cash makes my back hurt. But I'm stuck sitting in cash because my furniture was part of a bonus my TARP-recipient company gave me and well, you know all about why I had to sell that.
  17. Tony Montana: In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.
  18. First off - I had to edit my previous post. You must assume that all podcasts are NSFW. I don't know of a library of podcasts, but iTunes lists their most downloaded podcasts on their site. Carolla is #1 now. Most of the other big ones are stuff from NPR. I don't use iTunes, but that might be a place to find them. I only found this one because about a year ago Bill Simmons (ESPN Sports Guy) had Adam on and he plugged his morning radio show which could be streamed over the web. I checked out the site and found that you could also download the show in 12 daily podcasts (MP3 format) with the commercials edited out. I liked that because you could hear a 4 hour show in 2.5 hours and I could skip sections I didn't think I'd like. The station in LA changed formats, so Adam's show was canceled, but he decided to do the podcast from home for free. Right now it is costing him ~$3000/month in bandwidth to have the show, so he'll either need a sponsor or a way to charge for the show. His radio contract pays him for the rest of the year, so he doesn't mind the cost. I find all of this really interesting. In this on-demand world, it's nice to be able to listen to this show when I want. With satellite radio's obituary already written, it would seem that there will be a shift in the model. I'm guessing that someone (iTunes?) will come up with an aggregator for podcasts like Adams and others. I think the best way (From a consumer's perspective) is for them to have the consumer set up a debit account and they put in $5/$10/$20. When they want to download a podcast, the account is debited. Sort of the way your toll booth pass works. Adam's podcast is currently running around 4-500k downloads per podcast. If he charges, that will surely drop. However, if the charge is say $0.05 per podcast, that's a lot of money for the high-volume producer and not much for the user. Getting back to your original question - where do you find interesting podcasts? That has been an issue for me. I haven't found all that much stuff that is to my taste. I listen to Dave Dameshek when he has someone on that I like (Simmons, Carolla, Kimmel). But when he has other people on, it's just not that good. I listen to some financial ones, too. It's really a viral thing. Good luck!
  19. I liked that one. Adam Carolla talked about how he would have liked to have Norm on his morning radio show, but Norm wasn't the type of guy that liked to get up in the morning. Now that he has a podcast, he said that he'd try to get Norm on. Tangent - Adam had Seth MacFarlane on this week. They talked about how Adam took over for Norm as "Death" on the Family Guy. Seth said that Norm was hard to work with. I think it's probably because Norm just doesn't care. I highly recommend the Adam Carolla podcast. You can get them here. (Caution: NSFW) The Seth MacFarlane one is the best so far. He talks about how he was supposed to be on United flight 11 on 9/11 out of Boston, but he was late and missed it. I can't find it anywhere, but I remember another time I heard Breuer telling a story about when he first got to SNL and they were posing for a cast picture and he was standing next to David Spade. The first thing that Spade ever said to him was "So... have you figured out that Norm is crazy yet?"
  20. I agree on most of that. Norm usually makes me laugh, but you might be onto something about him not always being ready. That's probably part of what endears him to other comedians. Norm just doesn't care (much like myself, I think). Here's from Conan O'Brien back in '97. where Jim Breuer and Artie tell some Norm stories from SNL.
  21. I seem to remember Jeff Ross talking about that roast. He said that the problem with any roast is that as each comic is sitting there, other guys end up using their material. There's only so many ways to play out the same foible. With the Pam Anderson roast, every single Tommy Lee joke had been made, so he said it was a Godsend for Courtney Love to meltdown. It gave everyone else there something new to work with. The best is Norm MacDonald on the Bob Saget roast. Norm simply does his best to die up there. Everyone "gets it" except for Jim Norton. Norm Part 1 Norm Part 2 Norm Part 3 Norm replies to Jim Norton
  22. Good point. It would be worth it at twice the price.
  23. I guess my RSVP was a little late, so the guy emailed me asking me if I was going to be there. My reply was, "Open bar? Of course I'm there. Just let me know which bridesmaids are single." He comes back with "XXX is going to be one of the bridesmaids." XXX is 23 and put together like Jennifer Love Hewitt (when she was 23, that is). My heart started racing. This could be fun.
  24. Father Guido Sarducci had a bit where he said that we should rethink about how we put candles on birthday cakes. Since it's little kids that enjoy blowing out candles, we should put whatever the life-expectancy number of years for candles on the cake for your first birthday. Each year, you get one less candle. If you get to the point you have a clean cake, you get some nice perks, like an express lane at the grocery or free bus passes. I'm not sure but then he said something like, "I think Reagan is a 'clean-cake guy'. You know, I'm not sure a 'clean-cake guy' should be president."
  25. I'm not sure how you arrive at the idea that UB should have been awarded an at-large bid. The MAC certainly didn't deserve the label "mid-major" this year. The collective non-conference performance was atrocious. The best team in the MAC is almost never as good as the 3rd place team in a mid-major conference like the Missouri Valley or the A-10. The America East (Binghamton) & the MAAC (Siena) are one-bid conferences just like the MAC. You gotta win your conference tourney to get to the dance. That's just the way it goes, unless you have some significant non-conference victories over high-RPI teams. Even then, you're not guaranteed an at-large bid. In 2007 Drexel (23-9) won AT Syracuse, AT Temple, AT St. Joe's and AT Creighton. It still wasn't enough and yes, I'm still bitter.
