Awesome. Does this sound the death knell for Rickrolling? I mean the guy actually participating in rolling the Thanksgiving Day parade? It's like when Janet Reno appeared on SNL with Will Ferrell, and that was the end of "Janet Reno's Dance Party".

Here's the Leroy Neiman art. BTW, did Sly have to stand on Paulie's shoulders for this picture?

It's true. I know some guys from Elmira that tailgated for "The Express". Speidies and everything. CNYers are just WNYers that are a bit lost.

"So we knew it was going to happen, and it did. The Black Horsemen came and cut down the revelers, even those with the names of virtue engendered like Prudent and Faithful and American and Growth. If you entrusted your money to them at the end of the run, you were luck to keep half. That went, too, for banks whose headquarters were vaulted like cathedrals. Not only did the market go down, it kept going down - the popular averages disguised the extent of the decline. Another day it would come back, but not until the unscarred generation, so bold without memories, had become scarred like its predecessor." I transcribed those words from a book I'm reading, but I changed one word (run was 60s). The book was originally written in 1967 and this is from the preface written in 1976. History may not repeat exactly, but it certainly rhymes. Oh, and the first words from that book? "The world is not the way they tell you it is." -
"I need your complete loyalty, absolute secrecy, and twenty live turkeys." You could actually notice the missing music in the scene where the Big Guy is checking on Johnny. Way to go RIAA!

Dude, you're screwed. Just be happy you're not 2 inches taller, because then you'd have to duck through most doorways. And that would just suck. I'm reminded of a trip I took to Hawaii in 1995. The UNC basketball team was on our flight from Atlanta to Honolulu. It was a 9 hour flight, but fortunately for the front-liners they were given 1st class seating. Serge Zwikker still didn't look all that comfortable folding his 7' 3" frame into that seat. Poor Dean Smith had to sit in coach with losers like me.

Just like Kindergarten: You're all winners! Man, a playoff sure would be fun this year.

I'm going to introduce my unscientific theory: Josh Reed was back out there. JR has been had been enjoying the best year of his career before he was hurt. Once he went down, TE seemed to suffer. JR was his security blanket, and when he wasn't there, Trent just wasn't the same guy. I'm sure the increased competition and concussion played a part in it, but Trent just seemed tentative without Josh out there. Heck today he threw his body (and good sense) into it by running for two TDs. The dude thought he was Tim Tebow out there. Oh yeah, and the Chiefs stink. Wow, those KC fans deserve better. At least we have something to get excited about. This last month has been brutal.

Geithner is the pick for Treasury Sec
HopsGuy replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
All of the guys that had to sell due to redemptions got it done on Wednesday and Thursday. so they stayed at the bar. The buyers went back in the afternoon. Geithner is a good choice, but there's a void left in NY. Summers would have been fine, too. Kelly - You're not sure Richardson could be Commerce Sec? Why? I'm puzzled as to why he'd take it. Maybe there's a handshake agreement for him to take over State later on? Of the Dems running, I felt he was the most capable of doing just about anything. I thought for sure he was gunning for Sec of State when he backed Obama over Hillary. Guess that didn't work out too good for him. -

I don't really have strong opinion on Dr. Pepper, but your post reminded me of from the Simpsons. [substitute Dr. Pepper for Mountain Dew.] BTW, I have no idea why the Geico caveman is there.

Mark Cuban seems to be in a little bit of trouble
HopsGuy replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This is really starting to get interesting. A Mavs fan that works for the SEC was exchanging emails with Cuban about whether Cuban's entertainment company would participate in the distribution of "Loose Change" the tin-foil-hat-crowd video assertion that the 9/11 attacks were a US government plot. Here's the story on the WSJ Law Blog. I don't think this has anything to do with whether or not MC traded on material non-public information, but it might explain why it took 4 years for the SEC to press their case. -

Greatest. Speech. Ever. I send it out every Memorial Day to my friends. Good stuff. -
Before I even made it to my first Kindergarten class, there was a school shooting in my hometown. It was the first one at a high school (not a college). It was December 30th 1974, during Christmas break, so it was more of a sniper/Charles Whitman type deal. Here's a time-line of school shootings.

HopsGuy replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This will be interesting. From what I've read so far, this is a pretty clear cut 'n dried case of trading on material non-public information. It's purely a civil complaint, so jail time isn't really part of the equation. Now, if he tries to fight it, that's when the DOJ might bring out its daggers. Then he'll end up screaming at Tim Donaghy during a rec-yard game. I'd like to think he'd be smart enough to do a deal where he pays a fine (3x the loss avoided plus interest) while admitting to no wrong doing (this happens all the time). He'd be barred from serving on the board of a public company for like 5-10 years. However, the guy has a HUGE ego so he might fall into the Martha Trap*. * Martha Trap - you did something wrong but while the authorities are sure you did, they don't have enough evidence to prove you did it. When this happens, they poke around long enough so that they can charge you with "obstruction of justice" which is a pretty easy way for them to send you to jail. This is what will happen to Barry Bonds and eventually to Roger Clemens. -

Mr Barnum may have said that, but the original quote was from Thomas Tusser. Yes, I'm that guy. However, Gordon Gekko said, "A fool and his money are lucky enough to get together in the first place." -
Okay we're both wrong. Neil Peart: Neil Peart at least my error was one of omission, while yours was one of commission. So there.
