  1. There are a whole bunch of terms and jargon in the antitrust law and economics space (I am an economist who consults on antitrust issues in mergers and antitrust litigation, among other things). Generally, people don't say amongst themselves "let's collude!" and it's even rare for people to explicitly collude (think of a smoke filled room where business leaders in an industry agree to set prices or divide territories/customers). And as someone noted, a league is a different sort of animal than Coke vs. Pepsi. The league I am sure has argued over the years that they have rules in place to make sure there is in theory a level playing field among teams and that the real competition they face is other forms of entertainment, such as college football, etc. Here, the issue is monopsony (basically, monopoly from the standpoint of a buyer rather than a seller) which is the power to decrease wages or other terms as a buyer of labor . . . Sorry for the digression . . .
  2. I don't disagree with you at all. Just pointing out that certain stats tend to favor current players and can be misleading. Not taking anything away from Josh. I think if he retired tomorrow, he'd still have an excellent chance of getting into the hall. If he continues to play at current level for several more years, then it's not even a debate (SB(s) or not).
  3. My only quibble with alot of the above is that they play more games now that in the past, so "first 7 seasons" stats are skewed in favor of current players. I believe Allen is better than Kelly, but Kelly played fewer games per season (no fault of his own) so he is handicapped vs. Allen.
  4. House seems pretty classy and not ostentatious - I approve!
  5. I am stunned there has been NO discussion of Hailee's dress and potential floral arrangements - Come on, folks, get your priorities straight!
  6. The first game of the season can be more of a crapshoot than later in the season, but I don't think that necessarily favors one team over the other. This game is similar to playing KC in that we've played them so much recently it feels almost like a divisional game. A bit concerned that Henry will be fresh since it's the start of the season, but I suppose our guys will be fresh too! Should be an excellent game. Go Bills!
  7. And I guess you are not an English professor . . . : )
  8. By the same token, if it does come down to the last few minutes in a tight game, maybe we'll be in a better position to get that one key stop on defense? One can hope! I agree past history isn't very encouraging but we did seem to really load up on D this draft.
  9. I can totally understand this line of thinking and am sympathetic to it and concerned about it as well. But my hope is that we've made enough incremental improvements on D (including a speedy CB) that it won't come down to needing to score ourselves at the end. Many factors explain why we lost to KC - Sure there were offensive reasons but make no mistake, when Benford went out and Elam came in, that was a huge factor/issue.
  10. Less than 0.00000000000000000000000000000001 of a QB
  11. If you have 2 QBs, you have none - If you have 4 QBs, you have none + none = none!

    RIP flaz

RIP (didn't know him at all but feel like I do now, a bit, from the obit) - Clearly one of us.
  13. Sell it to Tre!
  14. Upstanding citizen . . . on the Chiefs roster!
  15. I am not sure what the rumor is but I can confirm one thing being a Cincy resident: There are no direct flights from CVG to Buffalo (at least on standard carriers).
  16. How many multi millionaires fly coach? A lot don't! Especially 200-350 pound multi millionaires.
  17. We would have done better than the Chiefs, but at best, it would have been a coin flip/down to the wire type of game. In my view, the Eagles are a better, more well rounded version of the Ravens. Not a great matchup for us, and we'd need some breaks. But there's no way our O line would have been shredded, and I think we'd be more committed to running the ball/slowing the game down.
  18. Lost wages, then So CA and third would be Miami
  19. "You scratched my anchor!"
  20. Sticking with usual Cook and Groot with honorable mentions to Von and Kincaid. Go Bills!!
  21. If this happens, I may already be dead from a heart attack and will miss it!
  22. I don’t like that this game is on the road. That said, Bills have played extremely well lately without Josh needing to go off. I expect a close back and forth stressful game unfortunately. We ultimately prevail though, of course! Fu@k the Chiefs! Basically the whole world wants us to win and we must take care of business. Go Bills! Bills 30 Chiefs 24
  23. I'll be skiing in CO but with all of you in spirit! We'll be watching the 'ship games with a couple diehard Eagles fans too. Being at the Bills-Ravens game was awesome!
  24. Great intro for this game day thread!! My son and I will do our part today to scream our heads off and make things as tough as possible for the Rave Inz. They and their fans can all blow me! One of my college friends grew up in Balt and loves the Ravens. Would love to have bragging rights by late this evening! His nickname is Flutie, as it were, because he looks just like Doug Flutie! Weird! But I digress. I’m a little calmer and less anxious than usual and that seems to be the Bills’ players’ vibe too. LFG! We got this. I’ll end this somewhat rambling post with the sentiment of my HS buddy that I saw yesterday and hadn’t seen in years. He’s expecting a Bills blowout and thinks the Ravens suck. Go Bills!!!
