IF Miami somehow upsets the Chiefs in Kansas City, and we assume the Titans lose to the Rams, they actually will have a pretty favorable situation going into week 17 to make the wild card at 8-8 in a four way tie with us the Chargers and the Titans. That's pretty crazy. Miami absolutely needs to lose to KC if both the Titans and Bills lose next Sunday as expected. Of course, I'm not sure what realistic scenarios get us in at 8-8, so it's sort of irrelevant as we will have to beat Miami week 17 if we don't beat New England this week. I'm just thinking if it goes down that way, Miami's odds of the wild card at that point will be better than ours since they will likely be favored down in Miami.

Defense the last four weeks

We did win the majority of them. Went 8-3 over those 11 games. -

You can't just pretend like the three games didn't happen though. That 3 game losing streak was huge in a season where we will be playing a meaningful week 17 game. -
We've been beaten by the Patriots so many different ways over the course of the 17 year drought it's impossible to predict how they will beat us this Sunday. My guess is that since Brady already had his stinker of a game against us, they will probably beat us with Brady throwing for 400 yards and 4 TDs.

Defense the last four weeks

The defense drives me crazy. Can't say they have been good because of all the long sustained drives against them, lack of QB pressure etc. But can't say they have been terrible either because other than the 3 game losing streak they've kept teams under 24 points (and most under 20) all year with the exception of the Bucs. -
Will Bills Honor McCoy when career over
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he were to retire after this season it would be hard for me to put him in the HOF. But if we project 2-3 more 1000 yard seasons for him I think he makes it on longevity. Other than TDs, his overall numbers do look better than Lynch's and while starting 10 fewer games. And some people feel that Lynch is a HOFer at only 9800 career rushing yards. Of course in today's game, it's probably not fair to expect a RB to go over 13 or 14 thousand rushing yards. They just aren't use the same way. McCoy has over 1000 more receving yards then Lynch in 10 fewer games started. McCoy only has one truly dominant season on his resume but he's been consistent enough and good enough that he'll make it into the HOF by the time he retires. As far as our WOF. I think he makes it if he sticks around for one more season. I'm hoping he can continue to be productive and stick around for 2-3 more years. He's been quoted as saying that he thinks he can play a longtime at a high level. Sort of the RB version of Brady. Would love to see that. -
Just get one of Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield or Jackson and I'll be happy.

Why the NFL will never die
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we will see a significant change, in a decade+ in how the talent in the NFL is developed. Fewer and fewer kids might play in high school. But if a college coach from a BCS school comes calling on a kid who plays track and field and basketball and is willing to give the kid a full scholarship it may be too hard for some kids and really legally adults once they are in college, to turn down. As long as money remains at the college level, the NFL should still have a football factory at the college level. The other possibility is that it could also open up doors for other countries to send their kids to American universities. -

It just means we crapped the bed on our 3 week hiatus from football. -
Taylor starting
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Chadwick Bay Chad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cousins is a smallish QB that is going to be 30 next season. I say pass. Let's get a 22 year old rookie that we can have for 15 seasons. I'd question how well Cousins will hold up into his mid 30's. -
Taylor starting
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Chadwick Bay Chad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Starting Taylor is the right decision. Despite his issues he still gives us the best chance to win this week. He just better not have another one of the 50 yard first half performances. If he does, if Peterman passes protocol I would put him in for the second half. -
If he is there you just got to get him. Rams worried about the line year two with Goff and they are doing fine now.

Was wondering if anyone could clarify something
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In your Titans scenario, if both the Bills and Titans finish 9-7 (highly unlikely because the Titans would have to implode with 1-3 finish) the Titans one of the three losses would have to come against the Jags. That is the only way we would finish with a better conference record then the Titans. In you other scenario it probably comes down to common games. I believe all three teams would have 7-5 conference records. -
Cousins is going to be 30 at the start of next season though. Because he isn't an elite talent and not all that big for a QB he could be finished at say 35. Do we really want to invest so much into a QB that might only have 5 good years left in him? We draft the right rookie, and at 22 years old he could be with us for 15 years.

McD failed too many times

LOL. What are the odds of that happening again to Brady in the same game? -

That's not even review-able so if that was what our Coach was hoping for we are in even worst shape. The Jets are a team playing hard for their coach. They are one game back of us and are a team that is supposed to be lacking in talent even more than us. We've been blown out in four of our last five games. Jets have been blown out in one game all year.
