  1. Allen needs a Hail Mary to win it at the end here. 1. Packers lose and end up losing home field advantage. 2. Rodgers doesn't have a great performance in a losing effort. He'll need to have like no better than a 100 QB rating. 3. For some reason Allen plays at least three quarters against the Dolphins and puts up his third consecutive 4 TD 0 turnover performance. If all three of those things happen we are talking about a legitimate chance for Allen to squeak out the MVP.
  2. He's had a fantastic season can't take that away from him. I think my biggest beef is just the perception among so many in the media and i will assume the voters for now until we see the actual vote, is that it's not even that close and that Allen is third behind Mahomes. While you are 100% right about Rodgers perceived and actual lack of passing weapons for stretches of this season I think we also need to take time to re-evaluate how this season actually played out for the Packers. They ran the ball at a higher rate than league average and at a top 10 efficiency. Mahomes and Allen have done far more heavy lifting for their respective teams. And those are just the raw numbers not even taking into account strength of opponent. If MVP is just a QB stat award Rodgers wins every day. But if it's an award that takes into account a number of different variables I don't see how this shouldn't be one of the closets votes in league history.
  3. Sadly you are right. It's a disgrace that some "football writers" have a vote for MVP but are too lazy to dive into the details of each players game. I mean it's only three players you have to go in depth on.
  4. Allen's problem is that he isn't even being talked about as a close #2 in the race right now. I know Cowherd has brought him up as just slightly behind Rodgers and well ahead of Mahomes but other than him it feels like very few have it ranked Rodgers, Allen, Mahomes right now. Rodgers deserves to win it, as does Allen. It really should be a co-MVP this year but I don't see it happening just from what we are hearing heading into week 17. I'm also skeptical that Allen will play much against the Dolphins.
  5. I wouldn't be so confident in that. The guy has already been benched twice. I get that they are in a unique circumstance. But for all we know they could be seriously considering his future already before this game. If he has a terrible game playing against Buffalo's back ups most the game that could be a problem when they have the third overall pick.
  6. If McDermott doesn't believe Tua is a future franchise QB based on what he has seen on film and he wants to play chess while everyone else is playing checkers maybe he and Leslie Frazier call a game plan that makes Tua look respectable? I'm not saying we want him going off for 4 TDs and 300 yards but maybe just don't call a game plan that really brings the pressure, particularly if it's the second half and we already have two score lead. Give them hope for next season so the Dolphins don't see a need to give him the Josh Rosen treatment.
  7. That's insane given what they get paid and how easy it is to wear a mask. And i mean 15 minutes is a decent amount of time. Not talking 2 or 5 minutes here. On the practice field is one thing but heck it's worth it to even have a mask on then. Hopefully Allen has a mask at practice or nobody is coming within 6 feet of him for 15 minutes. Got have a coach with a timer out there.
  8. If that is the case then how have there been any close contacts? Just wear a damn mask. Problem solved. Heck, even wear one on the practice field. I'm not sure the mask part is accurate.
  9. Non of these new signings are able to play this week against Miami right? If they were I would think maybe we are sitting Diggs, Brown and Beasley for that game?
  10. Given John Browns in and out again status this year and Beasley at best dinged up and not 100% it definitely makes sense to have a couple guys ready to go if needed.
  11. Bills just need to score 14 points this week to set the franchise mark for points scored in a season. Currently 458 in the 1991 season.
  12. The Saints went 8-8, 7-9 and 7-9 in three out of his five 5,000 yard seasons too.
  13. Probably 9-7 instead of 11-5. Doesn't seem that valuable compared to a Rodgers, Allen or Mahomes.
  14. Kelly the Dog brings up a great point though. If the award is just the stats or 90% stats why even have the OPOY award. Seems a bit redundant. Or is that now a de facto award that goes to the best offensive player that is not a QB? And of course the MVP now seems a de facto QB award. Common sense would say the award should have some level of value to a teams overall success. The Packers have a dominant running game compared to the Chiefs and Bills. And they have played a much easier schedule. Rodgers, super efficient, but not asked to carry his team every week at anywhere near the same level Mahomes and Allen have been. This point does not seem to be factoring in at all in the discussion amongst the media. I do think at least a handful of voters will factor it in so I expect Allen to get a handful of votes. But otherwise, I do tend to agree. It's just become which QB has the best stats on a team that has 12 + wins? I am a big advocate for Co-MVP's. I mean if Allen were to win it you could easily make the case that Rodgers was snubbed as well. And vice versa.
  15. It certainly looks like it could have been. Allen seems to bail very early out to his left which of course is not his preferred side.
  16. Remember there are guys that have hated on Brady and Lebron over the last 10 years. It's actually a pretty good achievement that there are a handful of haters that feel they need to constantly remind us that Allen is no Mahomes yet. Just being in that conversation and having someone so strongly denounce Allen tells the truth of the story of where Allen truly is.
  17. Well, they are adding a 17th game unfortunately so might not be that long. But adjusted for a 16 game season, yeah it could be a while. But I do think we will start to see more TD's. Wouldn't be shocked at all to see a QB combine for 63 or 64 total TD's soon which would basically be an adjusted total of 60 for a 16 game season. Maybe it is just this hot streak where Allen has 8 TD's in two games but I feel like Allen can get 3 TD's in his sleep. Heck, he should have had about 14 these last two games if he had played the entire game and not had some dropped/called back. It's literally only a matter of time before Allen totals 7 in a game. Only question would be will the game be close enough for him to be still in it. Great point that definitely seems to be lost.
  18. Basically if this were 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017 Allen would likely win. It's tough to win the MVP. But I have no doubt he'll win multiple before all is said and done. Kind of surprised they don't give one out for each conference. I looked at the history and they started to do that back in the day for about 10-15 years and then stopped in like 1980.
  19. 36 +7 =43 for Lamar Same number as Allen this year because you left out his receiving TD.
  20. I recall a thread from nearly two years ago before Josh's second season that had this video. Searched but couldn't find it. I don't know who the guy is that created the video other than that he is a Patriots fan. But damn if this guy was not right about Allen. Even more crazy that he saw this after Allen's rookie year! I mean a lot of us were still very high on Allen the way he finished his rookie year but we are Bills fans. This guy has no bias towards the Bills but saw this coming. Towards the end of the video he pretty much hints towards Allen being that "unicorn", a quarterback that the NFL has never seen before. Oh, and the 3 minute mark of the video is still my all time favorite JA play. And that game specifically was one where I was like "oh dang. this guy is going to be real good".
  21. I'd like Allen to get it even though Diggs probably should. Diggs will get the first team all pro award.
  22. That's a great point. I'm not sure who these writers are. But as I've stated before I would love to see co-MVP's this year. Any chance these mvp voters collaborate before voting?
  23. Diggs could actually steal it from him. But Allen is a lock for AFC Offensive Player of the Month.
  24. With any luck get a two score lead early and then just hand the ball off 30 straight times. We don't want too big a lead (and Allen risking injury by dropping back a ton) because we want to toy with the Fins making them think Tua can somehow lead them back from only down 10. They get down 14-17 and Fitz will be in before halftime.
