Yes, it's the training and the mentality shaped by it. The situation did not call for the actions. The square was nearly empty at this point, so there's no reason to do the riot training march to clear it. Someone should have assessed the situation to determine if it was necessary; it was not. It's probably a good thing there were hardly any protestors left because those police actions would've escalated the situation. At least the one officer showed a bit of his human side and starts to check on him, but the leader pushes him on because they have to "hold the line" even though there are only handful of people left to clear. You would think there would be an option B as opposed to this is what we do regardless of the situation.

It's a good opportunity for Fromm (and the team) to "come to Buffalo and become the best version of you that you can be...."

Of course the earlier you lock down the better, which is why the uk has the worst outcome after Belgium. Are you really trying to say that the lockdown didn’t have an impact, that it was too late? How do you think the spread happens? A quarantine is the only option when the spread is passed the point of what some of the Asian nations were able to do. sweden is bunk but the architect of their plan now thinks they should’ve done things differently? Ok... In the early stages of a pandemic with much uncertainty about the virus you are better off being conservative than trying something risky when you’re dealing with people’s lives. See ya around...

So, are you going to argue that NYC metro should not have gone into quarantine? I'm sure you've read this one... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-06-03/man-behind-sweden-s-virus-strategy-says-he-got-some-things-wrong?sref=U5wmynFo Then there is Brazil, where Bolsonaro (their version of Trump) declared it's "just a flu." How are they doing? The UK started out with their controversial "herd immunity" theory, then back-peddled after a week, when it was most contagious. How are they doing? And, you really need to re-read Pueyo more carefully. He uses a CFR similar to Levitt. The issue he focused on, much like what most countries feared, was a dramatic spike in cases when the virus was most contagious, which would overwhelm the health system causing more deaths than necessary. He also discusses the economic trade-off in one of his pieces.

The first trade up was always about Allen. Mayfield went at 1, Darnold at 3, so the Bills had to act at that point.

I've been thinking about this in terms of Beane's drafts as a whole: he is both lucky and good. 2018, the Browns unexpectedly took Ward at # 4, which had Chubb slipping to the Broncos, otherwise the Bills would've traded with the Denver costing them draft capital from 2019. Edmunds sliding allowed them to move up to 16 relatively "cheaply." Even Harry slid down to them.... 2019, with DT being one of their biggest needs, Oliver falls to them at 9. Ford also slid down, and I believe Beane was trying to trade into R1 to get him, but couldn't find a partner. They moved up two spots to get him, giving up a 5th I believe. 2020, Epenesa and Moss. He's probably one of those guys who "makes his own luck." Get'em extended!

Who's your favorite Bill on the current roster?
TPS replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he will be a very popular player. I really like what I've heard from him in the few interviews I've seen, not just about football, but the guy has a good head on his shoulders. Combined with the type of player/runner he is, I'll jump on that Pain Train too! -
The Bills are the better team, but the Jets will be better than last year and they will play the Bills tough, as they typically do. Their O-line will be improved. Becton and Fant are upgrades over their 2019 OTs, and this is what the article Nihilarian posted said about their FA Center acquisition: They had the #2 run defense last year, and despite being an Ahole, Williams is a good D coordinator. Will be a couple of good match-ups, but the Bills should win both. This is a good assessment. They will be a better unit this year, but they were very bad last year...

He played all season with a torn rotator cuff, which gets more painful with more use. We'll see if a healthy Feliciano makes a difference...

It's been awhile since I saw it, and I just posted the link after a quick search. I was pretty sure he called him one, but didn't remember explicitly what he said.
-
Basically called him a pu$$y... Btw, link to it on Youtube here:

The video of him at Fred Jackson's roast was one of the funniest things from a football player I've ever seen...and he also let us know what the players thought of Whaley...

Moss on GMFB (Moss Mode) & 10 minute draft video
TPS replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Impressive young man. Reading in to something he said, it sounds like he was smart enough to realize that getting away from Miami and playing in Utah would reduce the temptations faced outside of football that could endanger his career. -
Oh, they have a lot of needs, but they aren't that far away from having a very good defense.
-
The Jets were either #1 or 2 against the run. They need some decent CBs, and they'll be tough.
-
Interesting. I won’t be surprised if they have Duke on their radar after his performance in that last game against them...

Examining Brandon Beane’s comp pick hack
TPS replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
5 DTs are locks. Star, Oliver, Phillips, Butler, Jefferson (can play DE too). DE- Hughes, Addison, Epenesa Are locks, so I think it comes down to Murphy v Johnson. Murphy would have very little trade value given his cost, though you might get something...? He’s on the last year of his contract, so he’s more likely cut than traded, which saves $8 mil. Would they trade Johnson? I hope not. He gives them 3 cheap years and plays STs. Epenesa will “start” next year, so makes sense to keep Johnson as the backup LDE going forward. I think any trade opportunity is in the O line group again. -
A B-News article compared him to Phil Hansen. I think that's a good one. In his prime, Hansen averaged about 7-8 sacks/year at LDE and known for his toughness. I'll take it.

Do we have the Deepest D-Line in the league?
TPS replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was looking to see if someone would bring this up. When you look at the teams with so-called stars, those players typically see over 75% of the snaps. For example, teams that also run a 4-3, SF had Armstead and Bosa with 75% of the D snaps; Jax had Campbell and Ngoukwe > 75%. For the Bills, Hughes and Murphy were about 65%. Over the course of a game, you would expect the rotation to have a stronger impact. Would be interesting to dig into the numbers on first half vs second.... -
[paywall] Athletic 2020 draft class rank by team - Bills #2
TPS replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I got a kick out of that. They evaluated who was viewed as a steal as those being selected in some range outside of their ranking on their big board. For the Bills, Lawson, Ragland, and C. Jones were all picked beyond their projections. They then identified them as 'steals" on whether or not they "panned out." I assume that meant they were retained by the teams who drafted them. All three were designated correctly as NO. -
My initial guess was EAson in the 4th, trade with Cowboys. Eason went the pick before. They went with Fromm in the 5th.

The OP said he was giving his thoughts on the draft, not the draft picks. Any analysis of the draft should include how you used your draft capital. In this case, the most valuable draft asset was used to acquire a #1 WR. Was it a good move to use all of that draft capital to get Diggs? The OP answers that question as part of his "thoughts on the draft." Btw, based on published trade charts, if you assume next year's R4 = R5 this year, it adds no more than 70 points to their R1 pick which gets them to pick 20, not 18. Well played by Beane.
-
All you have to do is read the OP’s paragraph here to get that logic. Maybe it was sarcasm by FC...?
