  1. i think the odds favor him given whaleys praise. However, I could see the possibility of coughlin coming in for 2 years and retaining Lynn as the OC with an implicit promise it's his job after that. Kind of what they did when Wade came to buffalo as D.C. And took over when Marv retired.
  2. wow! Is that being discussed elsewhere? The point at the end, that Lynn is the person to lead the team in 2017.
  3. groy is an Rfa, so they can offer a tender that would make it tough for others to sign, or provide an attractive draft pick if they did (R2 if the tender is about $2 mil). No matter what they do, their O-line group will be a strength going into 2017.
  4. and as many have pointed out, he was 20 when drafted. Young, raw talent. I think they'll figure it out next year, so RT won't need to be a priority in the draft. On the interior, Lewis is another interesting prospect. Now, if they can only solve that little qb issue...
  5. dont ignore the fact that Rex is the DONALD trump of NFL coaches. He loves the attention, knows how to work the media, and everything he's done is the greatest. He's good at selling himself. Brandon saw $$s, and helped sell him. Maybe someday someone will do an expose?
  6. If he keeps this up against the Jets, the Bills will have a good problem on their hands.
  7. I felt the same way.
  8. Thanks. I missed your original post, and I'm sure many others did too. Important now that he appears to be the favorite for the job. I thought that Casserly interview you posted was important and it seemed many people were missing it too. Need a one-stop thread for Lynn.
  9. Isn't that when the rumors were flying that Whaley wanted him benched for Miami? However, the 46 was Rex's call.
  10. The article I linked to in post 42 has the full story. That's the very last line you've highlighted. One tough SOB.
  11. If you haven't seen the Casserly interview link, check it out.
  12. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2011/12/jets_anthony_lynn_chiefs_todd_haley_share_a_friendship_shaped_through_football_and_one_painful_night.html If people haven't read this, more important insight on Lynn. A guy I'd like to know personally.
  13. Between Kujo, Henderson, and Glenn, they need to figure out how to get the RT position taken care of.
  14. Yeah, I posted something worse in the other thread where 26 posted it.
  15. hear! hear!
  16. This was posted by 26 under the 12/28 Lynn presser topic, and I'm surprised it hasn't generated discussion--maybe people missed it? Casserly was with the Jets when Lynn interviewed for their HC job and makes some good points about Lynn as a HC candidate for the Bills. Casserly on Lynn
  17. Maybe "critical" was too strong. He acknowledged that Taylor misses things and seems to be reluctant to throw in the middle, then added what you state. Sounded excited to work with him on improving this area in the off-season. He made it sound correctable with work, where some here think it's a fatal flaw that can't be corrected.
  18. He was also critical of Tyrod and his inability to throw in the middle of the field. He gave praise but pointed out a weakness that he thought could be corrected by working with him in the offseason.
  19. That was very insightful on Lynn. I'm almost sold. I hope people see this piece. Of course, there is one problem with it--that !@#$ing!! super bowl ball on his mantel!
  20. A lot of emotions at the moment. Give it a month or two...
  21. Agreed. Some things that need to happen in this scenario: 1. Re-sign Gilmore (despite what many think, the combination of Gilmore/Darby/Robey is very solid for the 4-3) 2. Re-sign Woods and Gillislee. 3. Re-sign ZBrown, or an alternative for WLB. They will need a safety or two. Other than that, it will be about providing depth from either FAs or the draft. I'm not sure about STs? Fortunately, Lynn started his coaching career in STs. In relation to Taylor's weakness of not throwing in middle, I think Lynn said something in his presser or on the JM show to the effect of "I would be really interested in (or look forward to) working with TT over a full off-season."
  22. As someone stated elsewhere, Whaley isn't going to do something that guarantees he stays for a couple more years but ends in failure. Yes, he wants someone he can work with, but he wants someone who shares his philosophy on building a team. Lynn's run-oriented offense, even though the design is not his, fits Whaley's views. As stated, Lynn won't let the players jag off either. Pegulas should let him control things and give him his 2-3 year window. I for one think this combo will succeed, but no one can say for certain at this point.
  23. You've taken probably the right approach: let Whaley own it, and give him 2-3 years to do it. I disagree with your assumption about Lynn. I think Whaley sees the qualities he's looking for and he's known. It's quite possible the combination--Whaley/Lynn--is the right combination for the job because their philosophies mesh. The results will determine whether it was right or not.
  24. This is the best situation at the moment. Let people B word and moan, but Whaley needs to hire who he wants, then give him (whaley) a 2-3 year window. Everyone else in the organization needs to stay out of the way. Did we read the same article? It stated "9-7 was a real possibility of getting in."
  25. i agree, but how many HC candidates will want to come in and retain the previous system? Kind of what Rex supposedly did in his first year. if you believe in a particular offense, then you'd want your own oc. If retaining this O is part of the bargain, then HC options will be limited.
