The Chiefs failed him. If they had drafted him his handiness would have gotten him a HOF ticket already! Maybe a jacket, but at least a ticket!

Cleveland Browns unveil new helmet, drum roll please
Augie replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
I met a lady at family weekend at our kids rehab facility who had a tattoo on the back of her neck that said (In a very pretty font): ”I Put The FUN in Dysfunctional!” The dentist from Ohio was bold enough to ask for and get a pic of her tattoo. Years later I hate that missed opportunity! 😂 Yeah, go figure….. -

But….in a perfect kind of way, so there’s that. -
Dolphins OL Bayron Matos airlifted to hospital after training camp injury

If shade on the opponents sideline is against the rules (because the Dolphins are already in shade and don’t need added shade), then FIX THE RULES! Goodell has to get something right, eventually. This would be a good place to start, before somebody dies or is disabled in some way. Don’t say a word to me about “player safety” until that playing field has been leveled. We could use some good old fashioned common sense here, but that’s in short supply apparently. -
Sharp Analysis: Best front sevens in NFL (Bills 8th)

A) This is for 2025. Did you see the draft and FA signings go very heavy on DL? I don’t know how it will turn out, but we no longer have just the cast from 2024. B) You have to get to the postseason before we get to see how it goes in the playoffs. First things first, but you can’t say they didn’t emphasize improving the DLine. -
No news is the best news this time of year. It always kills me, if the offense is doing well, the defense sucks, and vice versa. Let’s stay healthy until things count.

They had yard signs in Green Bay as you approach Lambeau saying “Park & Pee - $25”. You park in their yard, tailgate as much as space allows and they either have port-a-potties or they let you into the house. The price goes way up as you get closer to that odd stadium sitting in a residential neighborhood. Worth seeing because it is so unique, imo.

Geez, now I don’t know if I inhale or exhale on my backswing….. I’m pretty sure I don’t throw the “and” in there. Yeah, pretty sure. But maybe sometimes…..? Maybe throw in a sloppy “‘n”? 🤷♂️ -
I don’t see a true home town discount by any means, but there is a business decision to be made. Would he rather not get too much now to have a bird in the hand and be set for life? Or play the final year of his rookie contract, then get Franchised then try to get paid 3 seasons from now? It’s his life, he can do whatever he wants, but that’s a real decision to make, imo. .

Is there an additional fees for leap years we have to budget for? I need to get this info to our financial planner ASAP!

Beane is good at drafting after all -- A look at 2022
Augie replied to boater's topic in The Stadium Wall
While Cody Ford and Basham were very disappointing selections, let’s not make it out to be worse than it is. Ford started 9 games last year for the Bengals, in his 6th NFL season. Not worthy a high draft pick, but he’s an NFL player. Heck, I was surprised to see that even Basham was still on a roster last year. Every team has whiffs, and those were a couple of ours. I’m NOT saying it’s all perfect and wonderful, but it’s not as bad as some want to lead us to believe. We are a very good football team! -
So, we will put you down as an “over”. Thanks! It’s funny how some guys just never get hurt. I remember some OL guy who retired after about 14 seasons and he only missed a few snaps. I’m sorry, are you made of something else? You can get that at other positions, as well. And then some guys just can’t stay on the field. I guess that’s why we look at averages, but those guys who just do battle and always keep going amaze me. .

RIP Way too young. Got caught in some nasty tide waters on vacation, apparently. (For those who hate to click.)

As you may have realized, I prefer to at least give the bright side a chance. Let’s give due to those who have earned it. ….and crap on the rest. Oh, I kid, mostly. -

An interesting thread idea would be have you had any really memorable teachers, good or bad, and why? Just planting a seed I don’t think I’ve seen before. I have a few in mind, and some teachers in the family. What an amazing way to touch a lot of lives. -
Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
Augie replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think there is any flood gate to open. Nobody wants to prolong getting the NFL riches and years of service unless it’s an extreme situation. This feels like it might be one of those extreme situations. There should be an option for that under the NCAA, which is a complete port-a-potty event at this point. Is the ONLY thing they do now is punish kids like this? As I’ve read it (possibly between the lines?) he would cave on the clause for some reasonable concession in some other area. How much is enough? The Bengals need to find a common ground, and they are failing. Manage him into the fold while still appearing to “win” on the clause. -

In my perfect world, he can go back to college, earn some NIL since everyone else is, and re-enter the draft…..and the Bengals can have a 7th rounder for compensation and only because we pity their fans. I went to school there and my best friend still has Bengals season tickets. They can be easy to dislike. -

So, the ghost of the NCAA is protecting the NFL rather than looking out for the college players or the schools? Doesn’t THAT figure! Burn that outhouse down with the Bengals! Maybe use the Browns as kindling while you’re at it. -

You are correct, I was fooled by this: “Brandon Beane, the Buffalo Bills' General Manager, drafted Dion Dawkins in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, according to the Bills Wire. He was selected after a former Bills defensive back, Bryan Scott, announced the pick” I don’t think we’ll ever know exactly what happened in that first draft, weeks before Beane officially became GM. -

I think most of us fail to realize consistently the impact we can make on the lives of others. What might be an off handed comment just may stick with someone for years, for better or worse. It sounds like your teacher had a gift for encouraging others. Giving encouragement and positive support costs us nothing, but can be invaluable to others and last far longer than expected. I remember passing comments from decades ago that still give me a good feeling. -

Don’t forget Dion Dawkins or Spencer Brown, bookend tackles who are pretty darn good. People ignore them because they don’t catch or carry the ball or make splash play on defense, but they count too!
