She was out getting the mail one time when I got home with my son. I asked “do you know who that is?” He said “I dunno, some guy getting his mail?” I pointed out the dress she was wearing should be a giveaway. She’s a hermit, and a rather large one. Most of the time it was just her mother there, so I hope Mom was out of town if that wasn’t tennis I was hearing. At a tennis tournament in town they had some very loud sex going on in a nearby condo, which everyone in the stands could hear. Clearly. I didn’t see it live, but I saw the TV replay. It went from awkward to hysterical! Tiafoe finally stops play and screams “COME ON! IT CAN’T BE THAT GOOD!!!” 😂 EDIT: Found it if I can post it.

She had the house across the street from us in Sarasota for a part time place. Deed restrictions prevented personal tennis courts, except for her because they used her to help sell the development. Anyway….you could not see the walled off courts (one hard, one clay), but you could definitely HEAR what was going on. It was always easy to tell if she was one of the people hitting! 😂

It’s funny, I clearly remember the opening day at the Ralph, but I don’t recall the last game at the Rockpile. I assume I was there, as we had 4 seats by then, but I just don’t remember being there. I guess it was a long time ago and the first time with something is more memorable than the 100th, even if it’s the last. 🤷‍♂️ .

I’m in wait and see mode. All of college basketball is going to hell with the portal and trying to raise NIL money. Why should I have to come out of pocket to buy/rent some guys to play for my team for a year? I don’t begrudge the players mobility or compensation, I just don’t like resulting product. We used to be proud that every guy who finished his eligibility left with a degree. Now? I don’t even know who half these mercenaries are.

As we walked around Manhattan with our 10 year old grandson, we could barely smell the urine and vomit. I guess that is our upside! Have you been there? There is nothing subtle about it. I wish it was just another smell, but it crushes the smells of NYC in places. That’s saying something. Be decent to other people. Don’t subject others to things they may not want themselves or their family to be subjected to. That’s how I see it. It’s not about rights.

I think they all have their place, and we generally know what they are. But there is a lot of gray area. A kid doesn’t taste what you have in your brown bag. But they get the waft, and I don’t like that. But I also think cigars are for golf courses. It all depends. BTW, I really enjoy a hint of someone else’s cigar in proper dosage. It should never be forced upon you. .

I remember parents coming to pick a group of us up from the movies spilling their “roadies” as they slalomed down the roads between snowdrifts. Different times. Not saying better or worse, but different.

When we used to drive to Hilton Head and had to go past the paper mills outside Savannah nobody ever failed to say “what the hell is that smell 😱??? He was 10 in basically rural Georgia. Not Manhattan! .
