NFL Network layoffs begin, ESPN layoffs expected
BillsShredder83 replied to dpberr's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get it, he can be a bit try-hard and overly excitable at times, but thats part of his job too unfortunately. he seems a lot more chill when hes off the show and doesnt have to amp up his persona to a 10. the fact he has to do that speaks to the intelligence of viewers the network caters too more than it does on him IMO -

This is Peak Captain Hindsight. Are we really complaining about money spent on the 2nd highest paying (and 2nd most important position)??? Throw the ball well. Disrupt the qb. It's very simple. A fluke bang bang knee injury is incredibly common in the sport. Should we have not paid Allen in case he blows up a knee? Miller isn't a 6yr deal, and anybody in football knows it. Quit talking like an agent. This place is fn bonkers. Draft needs to hurry. Maybe we shouldn't pick anyone in the first round! What if they blow their knee out during the football game 😱 -
Do the Bills Under Appreciate Gabe Davis?
BillsShredder83 replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
You cant just look at a full year stat line and get an accurate depiction. How many games did he meaningfully contribute? If im very lenient I can say 7 of 15 games. In reality it was 9 games that he sat along for the ride. He cant get open on short/intermediate stuff, which semi forced our hand into the whole 50yd bomb on 3rd and 4 scenario we were in all year. Thats a great skill to have for a #3, but i need my #2 to get open short and intermediate first, then if you can hit the deep stuff great. How many ppl said the offense looked best early season on the dink n dubk? Cant do that when your #2 needs to get deep to have any chance at seperation. Diggs was being asked to pull the weight of two. He does not fit us as a #2 -

This has gotta be lack of separation right? These two guys had the same QB throwing them the ball -

Do you still feel this way? I respect your opinion around here a ton, but man he goes completely ghost mode too often to be #2 to me. In my head he had a terribly inconsistent year. I wanted to look at the stats to see if maybe my memory was off/exaggerated. I looked at the games, and it was even worse than i remembered even to my surprise. His stretch headed into the playoffs was atrocious. We had a great record this year but I think it was despite him, not because he brought much. How many 2-3 catch games under 30yds. These lead to stalled drives, 3 n outs that kill field position, gasses the defense. Im thinking it led Diggs to the most attention hes seen in his entire career, haaaad to lead to some of the frustration on his part. If Stefs going to eat double teams the whole year, he deserves to have someone on the other side just eating because of it. Instead it felt like, double teamed? Welp try harder because nobody else wants to help move the ball. I like Gabe i really do, he seems like a quietly driven dude. I saw how hard he worked last offseason! Was it truly the injury, what did you see brother? Honest good faith question here. -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
BillsShredder83 replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lamar is too dumb and spiteful for that. Say 2 seasons go well, but year 3 sucks. Lamar hates BB, BB equally hates a low iq ball player. Lamars knees are tore up, and his only offer is $6m/yr as a backup in NE now, or somewhere else...... Anybody think hes gunna stay quiet about their dirty lil secret? Lamar would be tweeting that from his locker before he can clear it out. and the way NE disposes of their used up players, is literally as cold as taking out the trash. Lamars not the guy to be making devil pacts with, noooooope -

Honestly who cares if he does. He's a cap killer, a WR killer, draft resource killer, and would require a team to have a mini rebuild around him to get the right personnel. Wherever he goes there's going to be a % of his teammates he needs to earn respect from. Dude quit on his team in the playoffs last year, players talk in a small league. As far as NE, I'd love it I'd they tried to land him. Beli is used to having statues in the pocket. I don't think it's a given he'd know how to use him. Not to mention we're the team who put the blue print out on him. Bill Obrien is hardly a qb whisperer lol I don't see Lamar playing this year for balt. He'll be another year older, all it takes is losing half a step. So a bad team would be acquiring a 27yr old mobile qb, and need to get the right personnel around him (with no draft capital or significant cap room). Take a year or 2 to get the right pieces around him. What an absolute nightmare of a situation. There's just too much damn baggage here. If he couldn't thrive w/ Harborough and an OC and personnel catered to him, he's going to go where? ATL, and thrive? He'll do well selling tickets and putting arses in seats, but he doesn't scare me. Then again, I've never been high on the guy and I think he's top tier dumbbbbb so I'm not exactly an unbiased view here either. -
You should hear my less conservative takes 😇

I think you do your best to coach him up on it, and ive been hypercritical of the overused qb keepers, but i dont appreciate this running through the media. I guess i havent heard the tone of it, only reading this. id rather him be harsh about it inside the locker room even as opposed to semi-soft through the media. kinda strange. sounds like Coach is really feeling the pressure already

McDermott "officially" calling D plays
BillsShredder83 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
As much as i hate to say it, id be ok with DT/MLB picks in the top 3 as long as a T gets gobbled up too. Heck make a smallish trade down to pull it off and id be really stoked. We had a very successful free agency so far, and we can pick as close to true BPA as really any team other team, I def have preferences, but theres not a position I would say we MUST pass up if theres a player from a higher tier avail -

Great post. Our HC is becoming a big boy right in front of our eyes. Seriously though, I hope thios works out and his assessment is right. Wish we had some more experience on the offensive side to help Dorsey though. Bummer we lost Joe Brady (right name? Car OC that was fired 2 years ago?), I think we did? Or is he still here? Couldve swore that was a 1 yr deal for him to get his feet back under him -

BillsShredder83 replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll be honest here. Im only aware at a topical level of what a HC responsibilities include. Like any career, im sure most ppl would be surprised at the things needed to do their job correctly. (Anybody whos started a new job can relate to "oh wow, i never realized they had to do X" feeling) Anyone able to link a good article or make a semi detailed post listing the main things a coach does day to day? I think itd make for an interesting topic, where everyone can learn something. If I were to make an educated guess, it would be alonng the lines of coaching the coaches. Evaluating coordinators and positions coaches. Kind of acting as a CPU for the staff, but thats a pretty vague idea. Bonus points for anyone that can post or explain a GMs day to day responsibilities. Ive looked for youtube videos and articles and havent found much -

Hopefully he delegates some of the simple stuff elsewhere. Id rather have him handling the defense than things like timeouts/reviews, things anyone competent could do. I realize these are only a small part of his job, but simple delegations should go to the help -

Yep. McD is a good defensive coach, and this takes away any delegating blame. If it goes well, he buys a little more respect from the fans and he'll have a full offseason to make a quality DC happen, before meats picked off the bones. But so help me God, if that happens and Leslie comes back, this place will melt dooooooown
