Ray Guy, Greatest Punter, Ever dies
The Frankish Reich replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to check that out! -
And there’s your not-so-hidden agenda. It is important for you and your ilk to create alternative scenarios — even bizarre gay hooker pickup gone bad scenarios — to counteract the obvious fact that this guy was: (1) not all there mentally; AND (2) influenced by nutty QAnon conspiracy theories. I repeat: the gay hooker narrative seemed to emerge from a report that the attacker was in his underwear when the cops arrived. That’s it. (And I don’t know if that has been confirmed or refuted.) in some alternative universe there could be facts like “Pelosi was seen leaving a SF bar with a man fitting the description of the attacker and taking an Uber with him to Pelosi’s home.” OK, in that case, some speculation about the nature of the attack would be warranted. But we have nothing like that. Nothing. It’s an ass-covering story now by fringey MAGA/Q types who don’t want to admit that their wacko politics has a special appeal to the mentally ill. Because, you know, it’s effin crazy.

This gay lover gone bad thing doesn’t even deserve the name “conspiracy theory.” There’s simply no facts to support it. None. And if it really was a weird gay lover spat, would they be charging the guy with attempted murder? And giving him the chance to put on a defense? If he hangs himself in jail, well, I guess you then have a starting point. Right now it’s just somebody saying “sometimes these kind of late night assaults come from disputes between a gay hooker and his client.” But some people can never accept that sometimes life is random and that not everything is part of a big conspiracy.

Bump. D.U.M.B.S. causing earthquakes all over the place! Maybe a Bills Fan in NC can find a portal into the upside down to put an end to this. MY EARDRUMS ARE ABOUT TO BURST. sincerely, DRsLackey -
Or at least Hines Ward. C’mon, Brandon, he’s available!

No!!! Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins!
The Frankish Reich replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely. I’d love to have our decade or two with no real competition in the division just like NE had, but hey, I can handle the Pats being a perennial last place team just fine. -
No!!! Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins!
The Frankish Reich replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m no Dolphins fan either, but that doesn’t stop me from saying I really like what McDaniel and the GM are doing, and that watching this track meet offense is entertaining (at least when they’re not playing us). Will this be sustainable long term? Who knows, but it’s kind of a fascinating doubling down on what KC did with Tyreek and his game altering speed. -
Great night game experience! However....
The Frankish Reich replied to Adamb412's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well…yes. At least not with nearly the same frequency. I love the Bills and Bills fans, but I have to say I was a little disappointed in how SNF played up the old tired memes: tailgate table dives, bowling ball shots, etc. Yeah, it’s still a thing, but not the thing it was when the actual game on the field wasn’t very interesting. -
No!!! Bradley Chubb to the Dolphins!
The Frankish Reich replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
You should just give up. I’ve had this argument a couple times now. We all agree that Tua is no Allen or Mahomes. But some people won’t even concede that he’s playing very well and he could easily take them as far as, say, Tannehill took the Titans. Which on a good day with the right breaks makes them dangerous. I think all that criticism comes from a place of fear … -

Since I live in Colorado, I’ve seen an awful (and I mean “awful”) lot of the Broncos these last few years. Chubb is a very good player. Not so much an edge rusher as a guy who can bring pressure often enough, and also strong against the run. Not a game changer by any means, but he’ll be an upgrade over the guy whose snaps he takes. Kind of a more developed Boogie Basham. I don’t like to see that the Dolphins finally seem to know what they’re doing, but this one doesn’t really worry me. -
It’s fun watching the right wing fringe propaganda machine at work. For a brief moment, everyone was on board with Michael Schellenberger’s take, namely: this wasn’t so much a political crime; rather, it was just the latest example of the drug and mental health crisis in the USA that has reached its apex in the Bay Area. He’s researched this (read his San Francisicko or many of the reviews/excerpts of it — he knows the landscape and what he’s talking about), and he took some pretty compelling photos of this guys “home” (a bus parked at a Berkeley house) showing how out there this guy is. But I guess “drug-addled paranoid nut lately influenced by Q Anon” wasn’t good enough. Because, well, that’s pretty clearly a correct description, and it does tangentially implicate Q Anon bs as something that can drive a troubled mind into violence. So now it has to be “they are hiding the truth! It’s a false flag operation!! There was no break in, and Pelosi probably brought home the fugliest male hooker you’ve ever seen!!!” This is how the wingnut meme machine works, and it has a lot of useful idiots reposting its silliness. Even if football fan sites. EDIT: I see we also have “they covered up his DUI” even though his DUI was covered by every significant mainstream outlet, complete in most cases with his mug shot. It’s a freakin’ DUI! What’s to cover up? He drank, he drove, he got pulled over, sobriety tested, breathalyzed, and booked. But apparently there is something in the nature of a “cover up” here because some Twitter monkey said it wasn’t covered in the mainstream media and people just take that assertion at face value.

Bills v Jets - Battle for Division?
The Frankish Reich replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep. I actually like what I’ve seen of him talent-wise. Pretty mobile, very good arm and accuracy, etc. But still very much playing like a rookie. -
Defense vs Green Bay and their performance
The Frankish Reich replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s playing like a man possessed. A. He’s happy being back, and Frazier knows how to use him and surround him with talent. B. He’s finally healthy again this year (not counting the brief hammy lay off) C. He’s a big man playing for his last (final?) contract and that made him get in shape and stay motivated. D. All of the above. -

As simple as: you have a big lead. You don’t want to give up a quick strike. The other guys are more interested in establishing some kind of offensive rhythm rather than in actually winning the game. The Packers basically raised the white flag when they didn’t even try to get in field goal range in their last possession of the first half: 3rd & 16 at GB 26 (1:06 - 2nd) (Shotgun) A.Jones left guard to GB 34 for 8 yards (V.Miller; T.Edmunds). Garbage time rushing yards. -
One thing the conspiratorial minds don’t lack for is creative story telling. But really, you guys need to get out more. - male prostitute? Have you taken a look at the guy? 100+ Millionaire Paul Pelosi is hiring him? - the window was broken. I guess Paul (or … oooh, scary … the police!) deliberately broke the window as part of the coverup, so we wouldn’t think it was the ugliest mofo of a male hooker experience gone wrong? - and it just so happens that Paul Pelosi picked up a male “friend”/hooker who had been spewing Q Anon crap by the barrel all over social media? Please. This was (1) a nut; (2) a dangerous nut, allowing his paranoid fantasies to be directed in a Q direction; (3) a nut whose paranoid Q-influenced fantasies were fueled by years of overuse of psychedelics. A long time ago the great Mojo Nixon summed it up: Mushroom Maniac.

Kanye West opens mouth, inserts foot...
The Frankish Reich replied to Just Jack's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There are many examples of what it means to hit bottom, but now I have a favorite: getting disowned by Balenciaga, then The Gap, and finally finding yourself pounding on the door to be let in at …. Skechers. -
Worst Year Ever in the NFL for Overall Quality of Play?
The Frankish Reich replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thursday night football is the worst thing that's happened to the NFL. It delivers consistently poor games on Thursday night itself. It upsets the week-to-week rhythm of NFL teams, creating follow-on effects after a team that played on Thursday gets that mini-bye. Everyone knows it sucks, but it is a money maker and it isn't going anywhere. Then add to that the London games ...
