  1. Big discussion on the NFL network about this very subject today. A few years ago it was that the NFL had a dearth of good QBS and the colleges were moving away from the traditional pocket passer. What were they going to do? Well with guys like Lamar, Patrick, DeShaun and hopefully Josh we are seeing the answer.
  2. Are you saying that I picked this stat to support my narrative, because that is completely not the case. I was told that all the metrics said JA ranked it the bottom tier (his QBR is in the mid 20s somewhere), and that was what mattered.
  3. Well since NFL teams are moving towards the type of QB that colleges are now producing and not that, you will be wrong! This post needs to be revisited at a later date.
  4. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2019-nfl-predictions/quarterbacks/?ex_cid=rrpromo For those of you who rely on the NFL Passer Rating system for your QB success ratings, take the time to read this. Also, don't bother saying I'm calling it the be all end all- Its not! It is an improvement in that it tries to provide some additional context and doesn't rely on team context only like QBR. Out
  5. Well there is a ranking system (ELO) that attempts to put a bit of context to it and he's been generally in the 11-16 range. You have stated that you think he's in the 26-30 or bottom tier. I find that absurd.
  6. So essentially what you're saying is that if you have a good defense the QB gets little to no credit if his QB rating (which is largely context dependent) isn't high enough. Now I know what you're doing.
  7. There are certain schemes and QB types that will always do better in QB Rating. Can you say Bill Walsh and Joe Montana etc. vs John Elway and his pedestrian QBRs ? You can win with both.
  8. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/grading-nfls-next-generation-of-quarterbacks-lamar-jackson-josh-allen-shine-in-primetime/ Pretty good writeup on Josh and the other young QBs. This guy was not a huge supporter of Josh coming out, so don't go down that road. He had a second round grade on him, but much like our own @GunnerBill he is objective enough to realize that the knocks on Josh are going away one by one. J Rober you can have your QB Rating as the be all, end all. There is little context to that number, you may be able to make a somewhat reasonable comparison to Josh's own QBR from last year to this year. However, you can't really compare him for the most part to guys who play in different schemes, with different receivers , different levels of protections, his mobility, his playmaking in key situations etc. without A TON of adjustments.
  9. Collinsworth is a clown, I can't separate him from PFF either. I heard they have Jordan Phillips ranked like 100th too. Jeez 9.5 sacks and second to Donald.
  10. If we're using PFF focus it won't be many, if any.
  11. Sounds like a plan! In
  12. Good post! My 2 cents is that Daboll doesn't have much confidence in our receivers other than Brown. Josh trusts Brown more than anyone, and he had a drop last night too. I just feel like with better perimeter guys, next year (fingers crossed), he will be more willing to let Josh air it out a bit more.
  13. Beasley came up really small last night 1 catch for 6 yards. Some games the matchup just doesn't workout with him. He's barely an NFL receiver for the most part.
  14. Something that some are not taking into account and not respecting is the Steelers defense. Go back and look at the numbers from week 4 on for Steelers D , the passer rating against is 64, routinely giving up 150 yards passing and 250 total yards against (or less), and turning the ball over, sacking the QB and tough to score on! And those numbers are even better at home. B- is perfectly reasonable when taking this into account.
  15. Agreed. I think they (Coaching) just enter certain games with the plan to not make any more mistakes than we have to. It is just in the DNA of the coaches. But, putting your young QB in 3 and 8 plus is ill advised, let him throw the darn ball on 1st and 2nd down.
  16. Not really. The ELO rating system on 538, which takes all plays and the opponent into account objectively and valued without bias has had him mostly between 10 and 15.
  17. I can't believe how negative people are on here. You'd think we have no hope and are 4-10
  18. He should learn how to say Dabolls name correctly. His analysis of blaming drops by receivers on Allen was a bit over the top.
  19. where would we be without him. great job!
  20. yeah cause scoring both Tds in a 17-10 win against a great D on the road in primetime to clinch a playoff spot is meaningless.
  21. your complaining is unneeded and unnecessary after such a great win
