  1. I didn't mean fine as a pejorative term. He has done a good job building that roster. After all Holmes could have got cute too but he didn't. He made the sensible moves and drafted Hutch and Sewell. And I 100% guarantee that Sewell will dominate when Decker ages out and they flip him to LT too. On who you'd take in a draft of non-QB NFL vets it would be down to three guys for me: Sewell, Jefferson, Surtain.... maybe 4 if Micah Parsons can get and stay healthy.
  2. I think it is more the top of the AFC is stronger than the top of the NFC. I think that still holds. But there were more terrible teams in the AFC - New England, Vegas, Browns, Jets, Jaguars, Titans. The AFC this year had very little middle. The NFC has more depth but Lions and Eagles apart I don't think is as strong at the top.
  3. Ireland isn't confirmed yet for 2025. Goddell has spoken about it as a possibility but so far Europe has 3x London, Madrid and Berlin confirmed for 2025.
  4. I have said if I had an all pro vote my votes at Right Tackle would have been: 1. Penei Sewell 2. Spencer Brown But Sewell is phenomenal. Truly generational. And he is going to be a dominant left tackle when he switches too. If I was starting a franchise and I was allowed first pick of any non-Quarterback I'd pick Sewell.
  5. There are some picks that yo can legitimately at the time question for the strategic thinking behind them. There are others where hindsight simply demonstrates you took the wrong player. I don't profess to be an expert in what the view of Dareus was at the time I was still in 2011 just someone who tuned in to day 1 of the draft as a spectator rather than a draft nerd but my memory is he was seen as an absolute blue chip prospect and until the train really got rolling with Cam Newton later in the year there was even some talk he could be the 1st overall pick. So I don't think strategically that was a mistake that you can call the team out on. Whether they ought to have known more about Dareus's personality at the time is a fair question, definitely a fair question before Whaley extended him, but leaving that aside and focussing just on the prospect talent level, in terms of taking him ahead of JJ Watt etc... sure hindsight proves that was wrong but I think most teams at that spot would have done the same thing.
  6. Sewell ia playing right tackle. The same as Tristan Wirfs did when he came into the league because his team had a vet LT. I said Wirfs would be an all pro LT and he is about to be. Sewell will be too, he is even better. Sewell is the best tackle I have ever seen come into the league in my 22 years watching. Not hindsight. I said on draft day the Bengals should have taken him, not taking away at all from how good Chase is, and I still think that. And if they didn't Miami should have. There is no way he should evet have reached #7. The word generational is overused at draft time. Penei Sewell was generational. And then the Jags I am on about passing on Hutchinson for Travon Walker. I wouldn't quite put Hutch in the generational talent bucket with Sewell but he was CLEARLY the best player in that draft. Taking Walker over him was dumb, dumb, dumb. So I do think Brad Holmes has done a fine job. But those first two cornerstone pieces were handed to him on a plate by dumb franchises.
  7. And because other teams are dumb. Penei Sewell should never have falled to #6 in that class and Aiden Hutchinson should never have fallen to #2 in his class either. Not to dismiss some of what Holmes has done elsewhere with St Brown, Joseph, Branch and LaPorta on days 2 and 3 of drafts but they were gifted two elite players at premium positions by dumb franchises like the Bengals, Dolphins and Jaguars.
  8. I believe Johnson has turned down the invitation to interview in Jacksonville. He is taking just two interviews: New England and Chicago. Also worth saying Aaron Glenn has declined to interview with New England but will inteview for the other five openings. I suspect that is because he believes that process is a sham and its Vrabel's job.
  9. Yea if he wanted to be a GM why not hire himself in Detroit? I think he could do a good job as a leader, direction setter and cohesion builder but not sure he is a talent evaluator.
  10. Wow Rick must really have wracked his brains to advise on that one....
  11. I do expect RapSheet to know how to use a ***** apostrophe though.....
  12. Ideally you have both. But given a choice it's leadership, every time. I was watching Belichick talking the other day about becoming a HC for the first time and he was talking about being a coordinator being really bad prep for being a Head Coach saying basically "you are doing so much other stuff you get very little time in season to be involved in scheme."
  13. Just more proof that McDaniel is not a leader. The players do not see him as a leader. He can't hold the respect of the room. I say it multiple times every year, when it comes to hiring a Head Coach in the NFL Xs and Os are sexy, but leadership wins.
  14. I have no doubt at some point Brady will want that chance. I'd just hope we might get one more year out of him first. Especially, as I keep saying, with the market this year being even more full of bad jobs than usual.
  15. Also true. But that doesn't change the fact that the the "can't beat Kansas City" argument doesn't stand up. Hasn't beaten them in the playoffs is a fact. Can't beat them isn't.
  16. No other active Head Coach has as many victories against Andy Reid as Sean McDermott.
  17. And it is harder to get a hit peice published if you have to comply with editorial standards than a puff piece. One is inherently more risky than the other. But neither are good journalism. Indeed my career change came after I basically refused to write a puff piece and fell out with my bosses about it.
  18. They are puff pieces. Ty's article was a hit piece. I question the journalistic integrity of both.
  19. It was a similar process that led the Pegulas to Rex Ryan. They interviewed about a dozen guys all types no specifications... was a mess.
  20. That is what I hope. It is what I'd advise him too. I think the jobs open this time are all rough for one reason or another.
  21. The Bills could increase that. They could do what the Lions did for Johnson. Pay Brady more.
  22. I believe so.
  23. Sometimes people do, sure. But sometimes people don't. You have to let the individual deal with it their way. Everyone is different.
  24. I think Josh wins comfortably.
  25. But the AP all pro one is the relevant one because it is the same voters as MVP.
