  1. A decent sized contingent on this board thought there was a chance before the season.
  2. Here is the rub: McD and Dennison have to be given credit for the fast start. They did something right but I think they all were surprised by it as much as the fans. I think this was a Tank/ rebuild from the beginning. As much as the losing would suck, it would feel a lot better being 3-7 right now and not trading away a good pick for KB on what I bet turns into a one year deal.
  3. Was I wrong when I found the term “ Playoff panties” curiously arousing?
  4. Which is why he should start out the rest of the season
  5. Hopeful with definite reservation..... kinda like Peterman. To be expected when watching a bad team with no playoff hope.
  6. Having entered the season with no expectation of playoffs I wasn’t fooled by the start. Im also not enamoured with .500 ball. (15-14) Jake DelHomne made the pro bowl one year and Jethro Tull was the first inductee into the “ Heavy Metal” wing of the Rock and Roll HOF. Freaking popularity contest/ feel good story BS. Choose one side of the fence but don’t ride right down the middle.
  7. 24 Rec , 4 TDs I admittedly haven’t paid attention to the Rams other that highlights but those are not great stats for a double first round “ once in a generation” receiver. Hated that pick the moment it happened
  8. I was wrong about the Bills being a 5 win team( which came down from 6 after the Watkins trade) . In Bills fashion, they still have a draft ruining win or two left in them. I didn’t foresee Peterman sucking on such a monumental scale.
  9. RJ couldn’t cover the kickoff or correctly review a forward pass. When you have a top 2 D, Top 6 rushing attack, Steve Christie as your kicker it’s easy to fool a lot of Bills fans into thinking 19 TDs to 16 Ints is a “ Winner” contributing performance. The same kind of thinking that says TT was a winning QB in games where he got three turnovers from the D ( and still managed to not turn them all into points). Flutie was NOT a good QB. Put a Jim Kelly on that team and we win it all!!!
  10. Thinking more along this line. If we picked a half an o line and D help next year and had a crappy season half this board would be losing their mind. The logic of doing it is solid but then McBean is in to year three before he gets a QB who would presumably take a couple years just to become more than serviceable?
  11. Not sure how they could do any worse than that Pathetic excuse for Decensive play the last three weeks.
  12. I picked 5 wins before the season, after the Watkins trade. When they jumped out to 5-2 I stated I needed 2 more wins before I was buying it. Then we played the Jets and I was right back where I started. I try not to post in the guess the score threads because I’m trying not to be negative but I had a bad feeling about the Saints game. Not that bad though. After the Saints I knew the season was finished for sure. Peterman getting the start got me interested but ooof? Numb isn’t the word, just non emotional as I see this is a multi year rebuild. I LOVE the Bills and I’m willing to wait for my love to come out of the coma they’ve been in for 17 years.
  13. In a perfect draft they get a QB, Then O line, D Line, O Line, D Line with those first five picks. They all pan out and contribute immediately and suddenly this team is 3 wins better.
  14. He was 6-10 the first season and only won 7 in his second. He was BIG TIME on the hot seat here at the end of his second season and many thought he was as a lock to be fired. He was Ultra conservative those first couple years and the team kept losing close games because of it, as well as, the teams slow starts. Maybe you remember him gifting us the EJ comeback game when Tolbert was killing us on the final drive. Instead of going for it on 4 and 1 he kicked the field goal( Tolbert would have gotten it) and EJ brought us back for the TD. He was catching the same kinda grief you guys are giving McD that season. Season three he became “ Riverboat Ron” and started to gamble a lot more. IE : He grew and evolved. So, now for the snark: I guess a bunch here would be happy with 6-10 and 7-9. Not me and I don’t hate a rookie coach for throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Guns blazing Brothers!!!
  15. Having had the opportunity to watch Ron Rivera go through the first time HC growth process in Charlotte, I hate to tell some of you but it takes years. Is he good? Beats the heck out of me but my gut feeling is, with the right OC and the right players the potential is there. There were people on this board calling for Ryan to get more time at the end of last year. These guys haven’t even run their own draft yet and it’s already time to can him? I think that is pretty hasty. I’m definitely ready to give McBean all of next year before even suggesting this is a failed experiment. If at this point next year they have had an above average draft and the picks are showing the growth one would hope to see by the second half of the season, I’ll be ready to have more patience .
  16. 43 and didn’t start Coordinating till 09. Ten games into his first HC stint. Yeah, a grizzled old veteran?
  17. Hindsight is a powerful thing. These guys haven’t even had a crack at the draft yet.
  18. Kinda like Peterman??? Sorry , I had to. TT getting us into the playoffs means he might stick around which drives ME bonkers. We all know the 8-8 middle of the road, middling draft pick, same old rut argument. That is what your scenario results in. I assumed this was going to be another suck fest year in the preseason. I was ready for it and didn’t take the bait at 5-2. With a larder full of draft picks, we could be watching the beginning of a championship team by this time next year with good drafting. We don’t know how McBean will draft but that is why you hold the draft. Withh TT winning three more games, we may well miss the playoffs and the higher draft picks.
  19. There is a growth process for coaches too. I was concerned about McD’s learning curve this preseason. Sometimes the hardest lessons are the lessons that really sting. All coaches have some sort of bravado about them. All leaders do. The question is, does he get rattled or does he keep on keepin on and build for next year.
  20. I live in Clt and follow the Panthers. Pretty much watching them from here on out as this team has become unwatchable.
  21. You may well be right but the heart wants what the heart wants.
