Official fire Rick Dennison thread
dezertbill replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So lets fire the OC because he doesn't have a QB on the roster who can run his offense. Doesn't have a QB who can throw with anticipation or stretch the field so they don't stack the box and limit the run game. HIs receivers have been fighting injuries all year. We haven't had our best OL Glenn in the lineup for most of the season. That's all Dennison's fault. Of course! Makes total sense!!!! -

Fast-Forward to 2018, Case Keenum
dezertbill replied to CountryCletus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about a stud from the 2018 draft that we can hang our hat on for the next 12-15 years instead of another journeyman who is having a Fitzpatrick with the Jets-like season with Minn. Next thing you know everyone will be wanting to fire Bean and McD for signing Keenum too if the Bills don't go 11-5. -
Fire McDermott and Brandon Beane
dezertbill replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's called planning for the future as well as today. We didn't just give up a bunch of talent. We received a number of picks. Also Benjamin is under contract through next season. Beane wasn't focused solely on this year. If the Bills were 3-7 and were losing from week 1 we would be talking about the rebuilding process. Because we actually experienced some success and now that's left us everyone is calling for everyone to be fired including the PA announcer. Thank God you people aren't running this franchise. We would have had 5 new GM's and 5 new Coaches already this year alone. Take a valium and chill. -
This board is total entertainment when the Bills lose. Fire McD? The same guy everyone was in love with after Oakland? What a joke. McD saw that his QB wasn't performing at a level he was comfortable with (and despite his statements other coaches and players concurred) so he took a calculated risk to see if a QB whose talents fit into his OC's offense could do better. Obviously it didn't work. I still admire the move because he took a risk. See, in life when you want to be great you have to take risks. Compared to Chan Galley, who despite a string of 10 losses wouldn't bench Fitzaverage, and rode his QB into the ground which cost him his job. Sure, he could have stuck with Tyrod. But in his mind the way TT was playing would have made the team average at best. McD isn't about being average. That's called striving for greatness. So he went for it. I applaud that. We learned a number of things today.... First off, Peterman isn't ready. I don't see the Bills changing him as TT's main back up unless they start making a run, which vs. KC and NE I don't foresee happening. If TT was hurt tomorrow they would sign a FA off the street that could start more than back up Peterman. Secondly, TT learned today that he needs to throw the ball down the field and take risks. He threw way more times down the field than vs. NO. McD sent him a message and he understood it loud and clear. Moving forward, I hope TT uses that lesson. Third, the Bills franchise QB of the future is not on this roster. Unless TT can turn this season around and lead the team to the playoffs (which I doubt) our future QB will be acquired this fall. Whether it's via free agency or the draft. Bottom line is TT is not the best fit for Dennison's offense. That's why the move was made. You can call for Dennison's head, but you need to have guys that play to the O's strength, and TT doesn't do that. It's not Dennison's fault TT can't anticipate throws and stretch the field. Fourth, our defense has gotten scorched for 135 points in 3 games, including giving up another 148 yards on the ground. Bottom line is our defense is not good. Whatever they were smoking through the first handful of games has worn off. Lots of changes coming this off season. McD is trying different things to spark this team. I admire the fact that he isn't worry about the narrative of his moves or how things appear to emotional fans who react to every little thing. He is acting with the teams best intentions in mind with the players he has been given. Once we get a franchise QB, this will be a different team. We all know that. Once that happens, we'll be estatic to have a well prepared and well disciplined coach like McD leading our team. Until then there is no way I'm putting any blame on McD for this season. He has shown through a number of ways that he is the right guy for this job that will show once this team has talent at key positions.

Who starts next week: Taylor or Peterman?
dezertbill replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand why McD did what he did. I also believe this was a wakeup call for TT moving forward. At this point you have to put TT in. Peterman just isn't ready, to no fault of his own. I just hope this doesn't kill his confidence. Honestly I look at this as the same situation as a few years ago when the Bills went into the season with Tuel backing up Manuel. It's obvious that if anything happens to TT even if he plays well Peterman is not ready to take over the team. That's on Beane. Only this time I have to believe McD was in on the decision to use Peterman as a back up. Marrone wasn't on board with Whaley back then. -
Ummm... Has anyone seen the size of the Chargers secondary? Both starting CB's are 5'11. FS 6'1 and SS 5'10. They only have three players above 6'1. 1 above 6'2. Remaining 2 are reserves. Benjamin 6'5. Logan Thomas 6'6. Clay 6'3 with WR speed. Holmes 6'4. They are telling NP right now "just throw it to me! I'll catch it" This should be an interesting game to watch.
-
First off, I agree that this move signifies that we finally have a competent football coach with solid brass balls. Secondly, I firmly believe this move came with a push from the locker room. That Jet game Taylor got creamed. Seemed lineman were just PO'd that he wasn't getting rid of the ball. I sensed the same in the Saints game, this time the defense was frustrated that TT couldn't move the ball even though he had Clay and now Benjamin at WR. They played with no heart like they just said "F-it". Professional? Hell no. But you could see they were disheartened and they have been the heartbeat of this team all year. McD is a smart guy. He had to have sensed that TT was starting to lose the lockerroom, and I'm sure there were guys wanting to give Peterman a shot. I mean, the guy went from two days saying that TT was his starter to "sleeping on it" and naming Peterman starter? I also believe because he is taking sole responsibility for the move that makes it even more likely it came from the veteran players behind closed doors so he wouldn't out them. Now, i'm not saying all Vets were on board with this. But I wouldn't doubt that the Defense was a major factor. (Hyde calling Peterman "Nate Favre") Bottom line this signifies the end of TT's reign in Buffalo. It's obvious through this move that they don't see TT as a long term solution. Although Peterman may suck and they put TT back in down the road, you don't bench your starting QB mid season with the mindset that he is your guy in the long run. This is an audition for NP with live bullets and a playoff birth on the line to see if he has what it takes to be a QB in this league. I also believe the Bills are playing with house money considering they and almost everyone have been surprised with their success. If you don't feel confident that TT can be your long term solution why not see if Peterman can be. Love the move. Love the Moxie. Love the fact that either NP or a 1st round pick will be Buffalo's QB next year. While I am a fan of TT, the last two games made it clear he isn't the answer. For once a coach doesn't play politics but does what he feels is right for the team.

Don’t use “ Garbage time” excuse!
dezertbill replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly McD was right about the fact that the Bills got destroyed at the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense. When your running game is ineffective TT isn't the type of player who can bail you out in the passing game. Bottom line TT barely took any chances downfield all game. I saw one play here Benjamin was about 20 yards down field heading towards the sideline with his guy 5 yards behind him. He was open yet TT didn't make the throw. While it's well documented that TT has the lowest INT ratio for starting QB's, that's because he doesn't push the ball down the field like other QBs. He continues to play it safe, like hitting Mike Tolbert for 7 yards on a 3rd and 12. This year TT is tied for 21st in plays of 40+ yards or longer. He is also the fourth most sacked QB in the league despite some miraculous escapes. TT needs to realize that no risk equals no reward. His completion percentage for plays 31+ yards is 75%, which for me indicates (since he doesn't throw the ball down the field much) is he waits for the perfect play. He needs to just trust his receivers to go get it, like a Benjamin or Clay. TT is also a different player at home vs on the road. in 132 attempts at home he has 18 plays of 20+ yards and only 9 sacks. In 122 attempts on the road he has a mere 6 plays of 20+ yards and an astounding 19 sacks. That's why we are 1-3 on the road vs. our home record. Although today you might as well lumped this in with those road disasters. Bottom line the knock coming into this year was his inability to stretch the field. When the defense is playing stout that is something this team can overcome. But when the defense is getting gashed like the last two weeks he isn't the type of QB who can keep you in a game or win it. That's a problem, especially for a team that is looking for a playoff birth, much less playoff longevity. -
Ugh...here we go...

The Bills play the Chargers/Chiefs/Patriots next three games. Even if Tyrod lays an egg, I don't see Peterman starting until after those three games. -

Deshawn Watson is better then Tyrod. Yes I said it
dezertbill replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am also skipping 22 pages to say this. I would take Matt Stafford over TT, but Stafford wasn't available for us to take. Neither was Cam Newton or Matt Ryan. My point is it's not about who is better, it's about how the draft would have shaken out to get him. In essence, the OP is proposing: Bills Trade: Tyrod Taylor TreDavious White KC's 1st round pick in 2018 KC's 3rd round pick in 2018 for Deshaun Watson OP feels this trade would be advantage Buffalo. I disagree. Granted, you know by now what you are getting with TT, who has averaged 18 TD's and 6 INT's over 2 1/2 seasons. On the flip side, you know what you are getting with TT, whose Bills team has scored 20 or more in 13 straight home games, doesn't have an INT or fumble problem, and is elusive and tough to sack which extends plays. He is also only 28. Watson looks good now. But so did Robert Griffin. So did Matt Cassel. I can't say 7 games is a true indicator of a career. With that being said, I would trade Watson for Taylor straight up due to a higher ceiling. He does look good and with the right coaching one would think he's arrow is pointing up. But when you add Tre White, who looks to be a Pro-Bowler for a decade in the making, the Chiefs 1st and 3rd round picks in 18 (coupled with the faith in Beane and Co. to find talent at those positions as they did last draft), I would have to say no thanks. I trust the process. -
All season, the thought process for acquiring draft picks was to be ready to find our next Jim Kelly in the 2018 draft. Now? I'm not so sure. This franchise is laser focused on creating a "team" rather than acquiring talent. Sure, we all want a stud QB. But the first half of this season proves what many of us thought after last year....2016 wasn't Taylor's fault. Last season, the Bills finished 10th in points scored amongst the entire NFL. Mind you, 12 teams made the playoffs. TT also has scored 20 or more points in Buffalo's last 13 home games, a team record (including the Jim Kelly Era.) Taylor also had the 5th least amount of interceptions thrown last season by QB's with over 300 attempts. Through seven games in 2017 he has the 3rd least amount of INT's for QB's with over 150 attempts, behind Alex Smith and Tom Brady. Both of those guys are pretty good. In otherwords, Taylor led offenses can score and not make costly mistakes. All this, with a "who is that" core of WRs. Not only this year's crop of No Names, but years past with Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins who have proven themselves to be nothing worth writing home about. Playing with Jared Goff (last year's number one overall pick) Woods has 381 yards through 7 games, similar to his 613 yards in 13 games last season with Buffalo. Watkins only has 264 yards in 7 games, trailing last years total of 430 yards in 8 games. Mind you, Watkin's sole 1000 yard season was with Taylor behind center. Taylor is not the problem. The solution, however, is Coach McDermott's stifling defense and "all-in" mentality that has taken over everyone including the janitor at One Bills Drive. This year, TT is on track for 17 TD's and 5 INT's. That's after averaging 18 TD's and 6 INT's through his first two years as Bills starter. He didn't pop into a phone booth this past August and fly out with a "Super T" on his chest. This is the same guy. The same guy who makes minimal mistakes with his mindboggling escapability in the pocket. Taylor avoids sure-fire sacks with joy-stick like footwork. (I will admit some of those escapes I compare him to Superman). Then you add in Buffalo's new regime and talent evaluators. Tredavious White at pick 27 is pretty phenomenal. Dion Dawkins in the 2nd has already started and held his own. Matt Milano in the 5th? 'nuff said. Heck, we even had fans calling for 5th round draft pick Nathan Peterman to replace TT after a great pre-season. Last, but not least, is the chemistry that Coach McDermott has created with this team. While adding talent to any roster is important; chemistry, attitude, and "buying in" is more important than talent. Just ask Watkins, Darby, and Dareus. The Bills have shown that this Bills "Team" can win with Tyrod. Using the multitude of draft choices to surround TT and add to our defense rather than trading a slew of picks and trading up to bring in a "big arm" for the sake of hoping we find our next Jim Kelly looks to be the right answer. ...and I don't think there is a man on the 63 who would disagree.

In three games Glenn has started and finished, McCoy has 353 rushing yards and 3 TD's . In the four games where Glenn missed time due to injury (most of Carolina game, all of Denver & Atlanta, and parts of Cincinnati game) McCoy has 168 rushing yards and 0 TD's. Glenn isn't going anywhere.

This^^^^^ Front office unloads a worthless unproductive player who's $16 million salary is eight-times the three players who replace him and have double the production of him and our front office is the worst ever? Obviously the OP failed to research FACTS, like the Bills being 6th in the league vs the run and 4th in least amount of yards per rush not to mention a record of 4-2...all with a bunch of "scrubs" and with Dareus contributing all of 1 tackle and 2 assists heading into last week and 4/4 overall. Not to mention all the off the field suspensions and distractions, which we will have no idea how much he exactly poisoned the locker room with all of his BS. And of course, the OP is a seasoned Pro talent evaluator who knows that thus far Sammy has been....Sammy, and Darby, who hurt himself, wasn't exactly dominating his position at the time of his injury. Or letting Gilmore go who is getting burnt like toast in NE. Jonathan Williams??? What is he doing? Mind you we didn't make a single playoff game with any of these players. Just like NE, when you build a team no player is bigger than the whole. BB has run the Patriots like this for years and look at his success. You think cutting Lawyer Milloy in 03 was easy? Yet his team rallied and won a SB. That's what I love about McD. He'll cut anyone who doesn't fall in line. He's upfront and the players and guys like Kyle Williams and Eric Wood love him cuz he gives respect as well as commands it. I like what we are building. I like our front office too bringing in these guys like Milano, Humber, Poyer, Hauschka who were out their in FA or drafted late and playing important roles and falling into the team mentality. Whoever doesn't like it can go follow another team. -
Gameday Thread Bills vs Bucs 1st Half
dezertbill replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tough when you could easily be up by 7 and you blow two chances to get there. And the playcall was just utterly stupid. -
Anytime the Bills lose a game we should start a "Fire all the coaches" thread. Just pin it after the game so we don't have to flip through 10 threads. I mean, Bills put up 49 points over back to back wins vs undefeated teams and after one loss it's fire the OC. Bills are ranked 9th vs the run and now it's fire the Dline coach. Our FG kicker sets records for most 50 yard FGs and our punter is ranked 5th in the league. Brandon Tate is ranked 7th in avg yards per punt return. And now it's fire our ST coach. Personally I think the water boy is next.
