  1. That makes zero sense. We had a better record this year than Denver. We made the playoffs, they didn't. How are they more ready to win than us? This sounds like a "no one would want to play with us" mentality. The old story that Buffalo is Siberia of the NFL. That narrative has changed, especially with McDermott. The Bills are an up and coming Franchise, and with the way we performed in 2017 any veteran QB knows if they come here they could help the team make a deep playoff run. I agree that Denver is also a team who is a veteran QB away from vastly improving. But I don't see how "drama" or the delusion that we are an inferior team has anything to do with that.
  2. Why wouldn't he? How many teams that made the playoffs this year that need a QB? I say teams like Denver, AZ, and Bills have to be the front runners. McD is the same type personality as Cousins. They would mesh well.
  3. I like Dorsey at QB coach, especially with what he did with Cam Newton. Does that mean we are going after a Lamar Jackson or Teddy Bridgewater? Bridgewater's completion percentage is around 65. I'm cool with that. Jackson is around 56. Not cool with that.
  4. This is a rare year where established QB's who aren't post 35 are available. I don't see the Bills acquiring a Cousins as a bad move. At 29 years old he has a good 7+ years left in him. This allows the team to continue to get younger and stronger in other areas through the draft, instead of trading a bunch of picks to draft 1 QB who, if he plays this year, won't be as good as Cousins and may never be that good. This isn't a case of sign a bunch of high priced free agents over 28. This is one position
  5. We are a playoff team with some of our core being in the 30 plus age range. While our goal will be to get younger, I don't see the Bills scrapping their momentum to take a step back. Taking a QB to play in year 1 at any point in the first round would do that, unless they really felt a guy could come in and play well game 1. History says that's a long shot. It makes all the sense in the world for the Bills to sign a veteran guy on the south side of 30 years old that can start for 6-7 years (the age most successful QB's play till these days). That way they can use those high draft picks this year and not only shore up some much needed weaknesses, but also get younger in a number of different areas. Alexander, Kyle Williams, Incognito, Wood, Shady are all guys to name a few that the Bills realize time is ticking on their careers. Shady truly has another good year or two left but he has missed games and the Bills need to have a guy they can count on to replace him besides Tolbert. If they draft a guy like Rudolph, he needs time to develop. Bringing in a journeyman to play .500 football doesn't makes sense right now. We are too good (funny to say that). The only scenario would be to draft a guy like Brees who has a year or two left, but prying him away from the Saints will be impossible. I only see us going after one of the FA QBs and draft four starters in the first two rounds to get this team deeper into the playoffs.
  6. We appreciate your contributions to the board Nate. A little self serving, but entertaining none the less.
  7. Please let me know right now who would take Tajh Boyd and Johnny Manziel over Carr, Garoppolo, or Bridgewater. Dumb stat. 'Nuff said. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M (9 7/8) Tajh Boyd, Clemson (9 5/8) Blake Bortles, Central Florida (9 3/8) Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville (9 1/4) Derek Carr, Fresno State (9 1/8) Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois (9 1/4)
  8. I just hope our passing game doesn't disappear.
  9. I like the move. He has a history of winning. Five Super Bowls, and a national championship his first year. He has coached under the greatest HC in pro and college (Belichick and Saban) so he understands detail, preparation, winning, and never letting the foot off the pedal. HIs past Pro OC experience does give pause, especially since the passing game on the teams he OC were horrible. But he also had horrible teams (CLE, KC) who had horrible QBs that are all either backups or out of the league. He was still able to rank 5th in rushing for a 2-14 KC team with Matt Cassel at QB. That's how you cut your teeth as a first time coordinator, getting your butt kicked on a crappy team with crappy talent) I'm sure he has learned from that experience as well since it's been five years ago. Since that time he's won a few more rings with NE and was tabbed by the greatest college coach to run his offense. This guy was next in line for the Patriots OC job. Bills snuck in and stole him before McDaniels could make his decision. He was also Nick Saban's selection to replace Lane Kiffin. My thoughts are if this guy is good enough to be considered OC by storied franchises such as Belichick/Patriots and Saban/Alabama) than I believe the Bills made the right move here. I would rather do this then hire a retread like McCoy or Chud, both of whom really hadn't done much to write home about over the last five years. I say go outside the box and strive for greatness. That's what champions do. Go Bills!
  10. Prior to this season, A Robinson had 153 catches for 2283 yards and 20 TDs in 2015-16. With Blake Bortles at QB. Plenty of players have come back from Torn ACL's. His unfortunately happened week 1. Not his fault And he is only 24. You can do an Alshon Jeffries type deal and hope to extend him after a great year at a steep price, or get him cheap now for 3 years and expect him to return to form. I would be all over him if I'm Beane. He's 31 and his best days are behind him.
  11. Not a big fan of either, but I see Chud getting the nod due to his extensive college experience at U of Miami and McDermott belief that he was big part of Cam's development, which I'm sure they will be looking for if they draft a QB. Friend of mine is Seahawks fan. He hated Bevell. Horrible play caller. Wilson had to save their A$$ so many times. Still say they go all in on Cousins. But either way Chud is the guy.
  12. One would be naïve to think the Bills aren't going to address shortcomings on each side of the ball besides QB. Last year we drafted Tre White in 1st, Zay Jones and Dawkins in 2nd, and Milano in 5th. White, Dawkins, and Milano are all solid starters in only their rookie season. Zay Jones started slow but caught on as the season wore on and will only be better next season. Also keep in mind with Jones who was (rather wasn't) throwing him the ball. The Bills have 4 picks in the top two rounds and 8 in the top five rounds. I'm expecting them to get 4 solid starters next season from those picks. First pick will be Dareus' replacement. We'll also get a replacement for Mills at OT (keep in mind we have Miller coming back at G). Although I like OLeary and Logan Thomas I can see us going high for a pass-catching TE to protect from another Clay injury. I like Brown/Milano/Alexander at LB, although I see a replacement coming for Alexander down the road. With a competent QB I think Benajamin, Jones and Deonte Thompson can be a solid starting WR core with a competent QB behind center. Although I see us drafting or signing another solid WR option. So yes, with FA and draft I see the Bills upgrading in many areas. But what's different about this team is mindset and heart. This is a resilient bunch and what McD is teaching them is what people will believe in more than just the talent. If this was Rex Ryan I would say no way. But with McD along with Beane running his first draft with his team of former GM's running our scouting dept, I think we are in great hands. When FA and the draft are over, IF the Bills add a starting veteran QB option, I definitely see this team as the popular pick.
  13. Every year the media jumps on the up and coming team from the previous season. McDermott brought the Bills to relevance by leading them to the playoffs. He brought mental toughness and accountability to the team, and most of the players would run through a wall for him. He officially changed our culture the minute we punched our ticket to Jacksonville. Our arrow is pointing up. We all know the shortcomings that TT brought to the table. Although I was a fan, this year proved he isn't our answer at QB. If we were 4-12, then I could see the Bills drafting a QB and going that route in 18. But we are 9-7, and a believe if we had a QB like Cousins or Keenum in the game vs. Jacksonville we would have won...even had double digit wins during the regular season. We are too far advanced to take a step back. I can definitely see Beane put all our resources into solving the one position that we have been struggling to fix for two decades. Cousins is 29, and with the Brees and Brady's of the world doing magic in the late 30's, there is no reason to think he can't give us 10 years of solid QB play. If we sign a player like Cousins, then without question this team will be the popular pick to go to the SB next season.
  14. He won't have to. We aren't going into 2018 with Peterman and a Rookie. We are too far advanced for that. It doesn't make sense to draft a 1st round pick on a QB and then sign Smith. You either go FA or draft...not both. You'd be better off spending that pick on another positional player that will start in 18 and make the team better. I'm predicting we are either signing Bradford or Cousins. My choice is Cousins. Kyle is too important to this team to retire. McD will probably push Beane to give him a contract that might be above what his value is just on his leadership qualities alone. He will come back. He knows he can still play, and you heard him after the game this weekend say he believes in what McD is bringing to this team and he knows next year he will have a great chance to go deeper into the playoffs. They all do this for a ring. If the Bills sign a vet QB like Cousins, they will be the popular SB choice next year. Watch.
  15. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication TT. Good luck with your future playing days in another city.
  16. Although I would err on the side of caution and give Rico the benefit of the doubt having to work with a QB like TT, I wouldn't be hurt if both were gone. TT for sure. We need a QB who can anticipate throws and provide us a competent passing game. I think with a QB like Bradford or Cousins Rico would get better results. That pass to Benjamin on first and goal from the one tho....
  17. There is one team for sure in this year's playoffs who will be looking for a new QB. The Buffalo Bills. There is a second team that could be looking for a QB. The Jacksonville Jaguars. If I'm Cousins, I'm signing with a playoff caliber team that is a QB away from going deep into the playoffs year after year. That would be the two teams named above. McDermott is all about character and mental toughness. Him and Cousins are alike in so many ways. They are both humble. They both believe in working really hard to achieve your goal. They both are deep into their faith, and they are both great leaders. So if anything, If we put our best foot forward, I feel we have the best chance to landing Cousins.
  18. I believe a wild card in this is Sam Bradford. Granted, he spent another year injured. But he only missed 3 games the past two seasons before week 2 in 2017, after throwing for 346 yards vs. NO in Week 1. TT has started 43 games as a Bill. Bradford has started 17 for Vikings. If you avg. TT's stats down to 17 games: TAYLOR: W/L: 9-8, 3498 YARDS, 62.6 COMP %, 20 TD - 8 INT, 92.5 PASSER RATING, 49 SACKS (AVG 206 PASSING YARDS PER GAME) BRADFORD: W/L: 9-8, 4259 YARDS, 71.8 COMP %, 23 TD - 5 INT, 101.1 PASSER RATING, 42 SACKS (AVG 251 PASSING YARDS PER GAME) Bradford is only 2 1/2 years older than TT. But the elephant is injuries. Although he's played 4 seasons where he has missed a total of 3 games, his other 3 seasons he missed 29, including 14 this year (although they could have brought him back sooner if necessary but didn't with Keenum and Bridgewater.) If Cousins gets too pricy I believe Bradford could be a solid value for less, and could end up being a better value.
  19. Agreed. Not extremely disappointed today with the loss. Felt we were playing with house money, especially with all the trades and injuries. And to get the playoff jinx off our back was huge. This team has a ton of tools and the right coach and GM for the job. This doesn't feel like years past where we went into the off season not sure whether were heading up or down. We are heading up. Tre White is the real deal. And we got him in the late first. We'll get a vet QB and probably draft 3 starters this spring. I'm very happy about the direction this team is heading in. That supersedes today's loss. Our goal isn't to be a 9-7 team. It's to be 12+ wins and consistently in the hunt for the Lombardi. Based on this past year, McD and Beane have the potential to get us there.
  20. I honestly believe that Beane and McD feel this team is too advanced to try and draft a QB. Whomever comes out is going to have a year or two of growing pains. We are a playoff team now, and drafting a QB would risk us taking a step back. It makes sense to sign a proven QB that can lead this team deeper into the playoffs, which is honestly where it deserves to be. If we would have been 6-10 this year then yes draft one. But as far as we've gone we sign a guy like Cousins and this is a different team.
  21. Cousins is my only choice. Alex Smith doesn't come across as having a winner mentality. That's why he's been benched. Eli is old. Keenum reminds me of Fitz's year with the Jets where if he had the Vikes D he would have made it to the playoffs. Cousins is more of a sure thing and I believe the perfect QB to lead this team deep into the playoffs.
  22. Ideal scenario is Cousins
  23. I feel your pain. But honestly I feel with a better QB Rico's offense can be more successful. TT just isn't a fit for it. Players not making plays cost us the game. Even with first and goal at 1 if they punch that in it's 10-7. Bills had plenty of opportunities that they either dropped or TT didn't make the throw and/or convert. Players lost the game on the field. Not the ref, not the coaches.
  24. I'm not all that bummed either. I don't think anyone came into this thinking the Bills were a lock. We didn't get blown out. We lost due to deficiencies in obvious areas (one being QB) that will be fixed next year. I like Peterman, and I was actually excited when he came into the game late. I really feel Peterman can make throws TT won't. I think he's a good back up and with a year under his belt he'll be better for it.
