Kevin Thompson - Bills QB in NFL Europe
Arkady Renko replied to BillsFaninNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eventually you will all come around to my avatar. -
I thought Bannan was now listed as a guard on the team and had his number changed to reflect this?

Disappointed in Reed & Aiken
Arkady Renko replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can understand the disappointment with Reed and Aiken, but a new quarterback often changes a receiver's performance. Moulds suddenly came into his own the same time we switched QBs. Losman might do the same for either one. Still, it may be worthwhile hoping for a good find in the area during the later rounds. -
Live there? What Oakland does is not a closely-guarded secret. Didn't someone write a book about it?? They have had great records the past several seasons. I don't see how that is only "ok". They have made the playoffs a few times lately in baseball where there are only four spots per league. The Bills have not gone to any playoff games the last five years in a league where there are six spots in each league. I rather be having okay seasons leading to the playoffs than not sniff them at all. I was mentioning both the Patriots and the A's because they both look closely at the marginal utility left for a player on their team rather than focusing on keeping the most stars on their team. The latter strategy is more likely to lead to success whether that success is dominating a parity-driven league or having consistent success in a league where small-market teams have a distinct disadvantage. Nate Clements is not a dump player? No one is saying he is bad, we are just saying that it may be better to get better value for him now before he leaves for free next year. (Franchise CBs make a lot of money. Didn't Woodson get a 10 mil tender or something?)

And we already have a third quarterback to develop: Kevin Thompson!

ESPN: Corporate Lackey?
Arkady Renko replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, thanks to pleznmd (sp?) I rediscovered it. It is more DC oriented now, b/c that's where it comes from, but you can find it 9 to 11 (it repeats 11-1) at wtem.com/listenlive.php -
Just noted this AP transaction

ESPN: Corporate Lackey?
Arkady Renko replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ESPN had to be one of the last media outlets to get off the Barry Bonds bandwagon. ESPN just loves to overhype players rivalries and whatnot. Vick needs to be hyped! No Ron Mexico talk! Interestingly enough, Tony K, on his non-ESPN show radio show, joked about the name "Ron Mexico" at the end of his show. -
Roydell Williams & Ryan Fitzpatrick
Arkady Renko replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, he might be the next Jay Fiedler, yippee! I have been to games where Fitzpatrick played and he was good, but not impressive... Jay Fiedler seemed much more dominant while he was at Dartmouth. We have a solid third-QB: Kevin Thompson, please see avatar. -

Wasn't being sarcastic. I always thought he got a bum's rush by the fans. -

Losman, you would probably hide your identity a little bit more if you didn't use "JP" as your name. -
The hard part is getting in, the easy part is being there. The problem is that everyone assumes grade inflation so that even if you come from a school where it is less rampant, most people lump you in with the rest that did have it.

If those wafers tasted more like Cheetos, maybe more people would probably go to mass.

A resident of Alaska who frequents this board
Arkady Renko replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure why doglovers are so into this movement. Once cats become widely accepted as game, wild dogs might be next. When dogs start getting into packs, it's not necessarily a good thing. My main problem is that it seems that overzealous hunters will hunt cats that are actually someone else's. I can understand people not liking cats, but do you really want to have kids having their hearts broken over losing a beloved pet? There are better ways to deal with this problem, in my opinion. (Like actually running good animal control and stop letting people get away with not spaying and neutering their cats). Why is there a need to ram through legislation that is so controversial instead of actually dealing with the problem? In the end, f- nature's balance. It is already messed up as it is. We already have killed off most of the natural predators that used to kill these birds already. Birds are just getting special treatment because they are pretty, just like that skank on the Apprentice. -

If the MLS had more crazy fans like this, the league would be more popular... On a related topic... whycome Rochester got screwed out of an MLS team? -
There are a lot of Billy Joe Hobert fanactics on this board who are still bitter about how he was let go mid-season. Often, they will take out their frustration on Todd Collins, an innocent bystander, for what happened.

I'm a Matthesian myself. Shane Matthews got screwed by being by-passed by the third stringer for the starting job... -
All right, I had a problem with a couple of things with this episode. Most notably, Jack tells the couple the code to open the briefcase as a way of slowing down the terrorists. However it seems that if he hadn't told them to the code to open the football, the terrorists wouldn't have been able to obtain the codes so quickly in the first place. Oh well...

I don't care whether our DEs perform well out of having a high motor or from pure talent. Production is production. Schobel and Kelsay, while not game-changers, have both shown that they belong in the NFL and belong in the starting line-up. Improvement is possible, but let's not kid ourselves and insult them by intimating that they are frauds. -
(LAMP) My Letter Got Read on Tony K's Show
Arkady Renko replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kornheiser just read the email at the end of the show. He was saying how Senators and Congressmen aren't paid enough and that's why only rich people get the gig. I sent him, clearly in jest... "Only among the plutocracy of the Tony Kornheiser show would a 158,100 salary base salary for Senators and Representatives be seen as a mere pittance. Leadership positions make even more money than that. The only reason why there are more rich people in Congress is because it costs so much money to campaign for the position, not because they get paid so little. There does not need to be a pay raise; there needs be a change in the campaign finance laws to allow the peasants who aren't on sports radio shows to afford to run for office."
