Yeah he is not the best against the run, and that was apparent during his time here as well. He's an ideal Will. Great in pass coverage and a playmaker. But you can't coach that kind of ability. Ha! Hard to change direction in mid air when the running back moves to the side. Incredible athleticism and ability.

Something wicked this way comes...
DC Greg replied to Lenigmusx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure why that's an automatic assumption. He took a team that was complete trash in the Lions and took them to the playoffs. Our team really seemed to like him and played hard for him. They carried him off the field in Detroit. Seems his attitude fit well with our guys. But of course we couldn't just promote success, so he was a non-consideration. -

If he were offered the HC position he might. Not for DC obviously. -
Boobie reiterates what some of us knew...
DC Greg replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can definitely see that the players are not bought into each other and holding each other accountable as they should. That attitude starts with the head coach, and a good head coach can sense when that's happening and start taking steps to correct it. Rex hasn't done that and frankly I don't think he knows how. -
He's going to get a second year at least. And worse yet, he will be dismantling this team in the process. Trying to get the right pieces for his "genius" defensive scheme. Meanwhile, the talent we do have will age, and good players will be lost.

Pegs wanted to make a big splash and take the big chance that Ralph/the Bills were always afraid to take. In fairness, the fans were demanding it as well. Promoting Schwartz would have been the cheap, safe play. In hindsight, it would have been the right one. The defense was a juggernaut, and there was not reason to mess that up. Schwartz could have brought in someone to manage his defense. Possibly we don't acquire/start Tyrod if this happens? Possible. Might have been just as bad a year with Matt Cassel or EJ at QB. But I'm pretty certain the defense would not have slid to the extent it has.

Bills @ Redskins: First Half Thread
DC Greg replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex has really driven this team into the ditch. So much talent wasted with sloppy, undisciplined play. Romans gimmicks don't work, and Rex destroyed what was a great defense. There are no excuses left. The team is giving up on him out there today. I'm watching it in the stadium. Defensive players are throwing their hands up in confusion before the snap almost every play. No one knows what the hell is going on. Terribly coached, ill prepared team. -
Bill's DC Thurman calls out ref video proof
DC Greg replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL needs to start making referee a full time position. These guys are part time and most have other jobs. They should be working every M-F plus Sunday and spending all week reviewing film, reffing at practices, etc. It's absurd that they are this bad and have such little feel for the game. But, the NFL is too cheap to pay the taxes and benefits associated with full time employees so... here we are. -
The MMQB: Is Tyrod Taylor "The Guy"?
DC Greg replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod definitely has a lot to play for the last 3 weeks. He could play his way into a nice contract if he plays well enough. -
I am still concerned about this offense
DC Greg replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh no I completely agree. Defense is far more concerning than the gripes with the O in this thread and the additional ones you've pointed out above, which are valid. All in all the O is much improved over last year and very encouraging. Doesn't mean there aren't still big issues with it as a whole, like the point bolded above. The D's decline is a much bigger concern, but the O has a lot of room to improve, as well. -
Herm Edwards Rant Toward Mccoy and Murray
DC Greg replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love when he says he never did anything like that when he was a player, then he gets shut down with a "there was no constant media attention, internet, or interest in you at all as an individual player Herm" line. He's a fool. What Shady said was hilarious, and justified IMO. He said he's not shaking Chip's hand. Big deal. Chip traded him without even calling him first to tell him. Shady is perfectly justified to not want to shake his hand. -

Wild Card Race and Intel on Teams in the Hunt
DC Greg replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with this. Just focus on the Bills getting it done. They need to win the games to get there. We can worry about tie breakers and all that nonsense in the last week of the year. If the Bills don't win, it's meaningless anyways. Just like last year vs. Oakland. Just get the job done first. -

Public beheading at halftime (figuratively of course. The buffalo costume loses his head but the guy inside does not. It's symbolic of course) -
I am still concerned about this offense
DC Greg replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We're definitely seeing the same things OP. I'm encouraged by the progress we've seen over the course of the year considering all the injuries. It's a whole new system, new coaches, new QB... it takes time to get it down. But things are coming along, and a HUGE part of that has been Shady's ability to establish the running game for us. Really cannot overstate how much of a difference that has made to this offense. That was an amazing trade on Whaley's part (although I'm kind of wishing we had given them Woods instead of Alonso). I'm also baffled that we don't try bubble screens to Sammy... at all. He gets a cushion from corners on a lot of plays. There should just be some sort of audible system where on first or second down,Tyrod has the option to check it to a screen to Sammy if they're in the right formation (i.e. a slot receiver is on his side that can block) and the defense is giving him a cushion. Watkins was just too damn good with the ball in his hands and especially on screens at Clemson not to try this at least once a game. He's more than a deep threat receiver, and we should be getting him more touches. It's frustratingly similar to how HackMarrone refused to try screens with CJ. He was a beast on them with Gailey, but some coaches are more wedded to their vision than what actually works. Hoping Roman will continue to make adjustments. -

Didn't realize he trimmed it, but I fully buy into it. The beard is weird. And cursed. Just like Billy Buffalo... -

I like that he cut his hair! Sometimes a new haircut makes you feel like a whole new man! I know it's petty, but Fitz's beard really started to piss me off in his final years here. I was like... we're losing! You did this season long beard grow last year and we finished 6-10... stop doing it again! It's bad juju! -

Bills Release Mulligan and Promote O'Leary
DC Greg replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been wondering since the season started why Mulligan was on the roster. For someone who is useless as a skill player and is supposedly there to block, he was been pretty bad at that. Missed a number of key blocks this year and some very costly penalties. -

MNF NFC Least Battle: Dallas at Washington
DC Greg replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the NFL... one of these teams could easily win the superbowl (like the giants did both times) Nervous about playing Philly in their house coming off a big win vs. NE. They are going to be fired up. -
