  1. Royale is absolutely an impressive guy!! He was like the sun in Jacksonville. The entire tailgate rotated around him . Royale is so impressive that I’m changing my mind. In terms of the topic I found some interesting stats. The Bills offense was 19th in average yards per drive last year at 27.88 yards per. The defense was actually 26th (which surprised me) at 32.47 yards per. The offense was 22nd in points per drive and the defense was 23rd in points allowed per drive. I was looking for average opponents starting field position but couldn’t find it (only saw after kickoffs). My assumption is that the Bills opponents had more field to go than most other teams. With that hat being said those defensive numbers were worse than I expected so I’m changing my vote to under. They will be much tougher to run on. The pass rush could be better and the secondary is still great.
  2. He said that he would have to play well when it matters to think differently. Shouldn’t that be the case? Should he say, “this impressive mini-camp practice has really changed my opinion of the 20 or so starts that I saw?” Of course not!! In my opinion (and Gunner’s I’d assume) he hasn’t earned the right to play when the bullets are flying. If he gets that opportunity than we all hope that he succeeds. With that being said why does a long shot QB that failed deserve more chances? I asked earlier why he deserved more shots than Tuel? Tuel was way better in his appearance than Peterman against a much better team. Are you angry that he only got one chance or did you think that he just wasn’t good enough?
  3. Good topic and I’m hedging. I think that the defense will be better and possibly very good. I think that the increase in short fields will hurt them. Last year the Bills averaged 1.1 turnover a game. If you take away the Peterman nightmare half it would have been 11 total, the fewest in the league. If that doubles this year to 22 (middle of the league) the defense will face more short fields. I think that they will be better but the additional turnovers may hurt the scoring number. I’ll reluctantly take the over but think that they might be quite good.
  4. The irony of this is Gunner has watched, as much, or more, of Peterman than every person here. His opinion is based on what he SAW. He gave a detailed answer of why he thinks that Peterman won’t succeed. You are not debating any of his assertions. You are just saying “you’d rather be right.” If you don’t agree with his analysis what is it that you are seeing that differs? If a practice in shorts and a t-shirt erases his last few years of gametape in your mind, say that. At the moment though you aren’t even disagreeing with his assessment. We all HOPE that he is Aaron Rodgers or better. We all don’t THINK that is the case.
  5. 100% of us didn’t think Tyrod was our long-term option. More than 10% of us believe he is better than Peterman and McCarron (which was your claim). That’s a fair point on Dareus.
  6. As morbid as it sounds the best situation would be a starter, on a contender, going down in preseason. If Brees, for example, goes down for the year in NOLA you may get a 2nd. Their window is closing and they could look at McCarron as potentially the next guy. That’s probably the top end. You are looking at maybe a 4th otherwise? That’s all a guess though.
  7. I don’t disagree that everything was with an eye to the future. They were still 5-4 at that point and it was a “winnable game” on paper (at least at that point). 9 weeks in the Bills were right in the middle of the playoff conversation.
  8. That’s 12,450,003 more dollars than rushing yards he had in a Bills uniform.
  9. I don’t think that the plan was ever to marry Tyrod. Peterman in the playoff hunt though was never going to give them a better chance to win. Tyrod was here until they got “their” guy. FWIW, I loved the Bills approach to QB this offseason (even if Allen wasn’t my choice).
  10. So you do believe someone that has posted nearly 22,000 times in 5 years doesn’t care about the team’s success? Good take...
  11. I would rather have Taylor than Peterman and McCarron if that’s what you are saying (which we all know it is). I want the best QBs. In in terms of Allen’s development they have a plan. The plan isn’t to let 3 guys battle it out forever. They invested A TON in Allen. He is the highest QB that the Bills have ever drafted. The plan is to toss him the keys when he’s ready. I don’t know how anyone sees this any other way? McCarron and Peterman are sacrificial lambs for lack of a better term. They are there to keep the seat warm until he is ready. This isn’t about their development or getting them ready. If they can play it’s a bonus and potentially they can be traded. Their development though is such a secondary factor. Allen’s development will make or break this regime and the next decade.
  12. I’m certainly not alone in this or sensitive. You made the suggestion that “those don’t think he is good would rather be right than the Bills succeed.” That’s what I called you on. That is a ridiculous assertion. Everyone here wants what’s best for the Bills. We can still have opinions on players. That’s what the message board is for.
  13. It is possible to improve and it looks like he has. I’m certainly not always right and never claimed to be. I do have an issue with your passive aggressive approach. If you want to challenge people on their opinions, go for it. Don’t say this: Can I say though, that it seems to me that there are a couple of posters here that have already made up their minds about him and it appears that their hubris dictates that they would rather be right about their opinion than have him improve for the betterment of the team. If you have a problem with someone’s opinion address it. Questioning that anyone here, wants anything other than what is best for the Bills is absurd. I have posted 21,547 times in 5 1/2 years on this board. Do you really think that I’d rather be right than the team succeed?!?
  14. I don’t have Allen way behind a guy that has been picked in 6 of his 52 pass attempts or a guy with less than a handful of starts. Experience isn’t a factor at all in this qb battle. Allen’s development is the only consideration. They are trying to set him up to succeed. If he isn’t ready day 1 he won’t play. If he isn’t ready week 14, he won’t play. If he is ready week 1, he will play. If he is ready week 14, he will play. That is the entire plan. Put Allen in position to succeed and let everything else fall into place.
  15. I was responding to a passive aggressive post saying that some people have made up their minds on him. I’m not going to hide from my opinion. I hope that I’m wrong. They will name the starter whenever the time is right. We are so far from actual games mattering. There is no reason or to wait. They are rotating reps now. The plan is to get Allen ready to be the guy. That may be day 1 or 2018 or day 1 or 2019. They aren’t going to sacrifice any of his development to get someone else ready. His development is the single most important thing on this team. It takes priority over everything else. They aren’t cutting McCarron. If anything, he gets traded.
  16. I’m assuming that I am one of those posters that you are referring to? Yes, I have made up my mind that he will never be a good NFL QB. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong but I’ve seen enough to believe that I will be right. I hope he turns into Aaron Rodgers. I just don’t see it. I don’t care to be right. I care that the Bills win.
  17. It wasn’t my suggestion!! Don’t shoot the messenger.
  18. Yeah, they are likely to cut their 1st round QB that they traded up for...
  19. He had 8 good weeks and then had a losing record, 195 yards a game and 1:1 TD to INT. Bledsoe was pretty much awful after 8 games.
  20. I think so. He grew a lot last year IMO. McDermott is going to end up being a good coach. He gave Rico what he asked for and held him accountable. He also took the bullet instead of throwing him under the bus like Colangelo did with his wife.
  21. I know what I was told and my source was beyond reliable.
  22. And he fell on the sword because of it. I have been told by some people in the know that was 100% Rico’s decision. He pushed McDermott to make that move to someone that could “execute his offense.” McDermott gave him what he wanted. It failed. Rico was fired.
  23. Tuel’s first (and only)start: 18-39, 229 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 0 sacks, 17 rushing yards against a 9-0 chiefs team Peterman’s 1st start: 6-14, 66 yards, 5 INTs, 0 sacks, 4 yards rushing against a 4-6 Chargers team Which of those performances was better? Which of those 2 guys is more deserving of another chance? That was my initial question. Why does Peterman deserve more chances than Tuel?
