  1. Funny story, the bar that I watched games at when I first moved to New Orleans had a handful of Jags fans. I found it totally fascinating. I became friends with them a few months later. It turns out it was Jack Del Rio’s daughter, husband (now ex) and his best friend. It’s like the only Jags fans I met don’t even count.
  2. To answer the original question it’s when we rolled into their city and acted like it was a massive game at home. We took over that city. They were excited about their team developing. We came in and dominated. The Bills fans were passionate and obnoxious. It’s not different than we usually are. We totally overwhelmed them and were pretty arrogant about how much better our fans are. We were fired up that weekend. The only thing that I can compare it to was OSU-Miami National Championship. It was 98% Buckeye Fans. The only difference is that the Buckeyes won. If the Bills won that game, Jacksonville might have burned to the ground (instead I think it was just a 2 alarm fire).
  3. So we are sure that Peterman (who DID throw 5 picks in a half) will be mentally tough enough if things go south but Allen will be wrecked? Do Peterman’s 52 career pass attempts really make him that far ahead?
  4. Not sure what the Browns record LAST YEAR has to do with the depth and talent that they have now? How well did: Baker, Tyrod, Landry, Gordon, Hyde, Chubb, Ward, Corbett, Gaines, Calloway, Hubbard, Mitchell, Carrie, Fells, Randall and Janis do for the Browns last year? What sort of contributions did those guys make for them? If the answer is, “they didn’t play there” last year is irrelevant. This Browns roster looks NOTHING like last years. They could be adding 10 new starters!! That certainly helps the depth.
  5. I’m not even sure we are disagreeing here. I’m not saying that they will hand Allen the job day 1 if they don’t think he’s ready. I also am not naive enough to think that he is here to compete for playing time. These guys invested their careers in him. That’s the reality of the NFL. Coaches and GMs will be judged on their 1st round QBs. Whenever they think he’s ready the job is his.
  6. A couple of things: 1) They didn’t guarantee McCarron $12M. They gave him $7.9M in total guarantees with an out after year 1. 2) The entire locker room and fan base knows the deal. McDermott isn’t losing any credibility by playing the 7th overall pick. I’m actually shocked that everyone doesn’t see that as an inevitability.
  7. That’s pretty naive to think that. There hasn’t been a QB EVER picked in the first 10 picks that wasn’t given the job. The Bills used a 1st and 2 seconds in him. They didn’t do that with the intention of a competition. Peterman even knows that. The Bills traded away a functioning NFL QB, didn’t sign someone like McCown or Teddy. They cleared the deck. That was because they wanted Allen to have it open.
  8. We get so insecure all of the time. The national media doesn’t want Allen to fail. They really don’t care what he does. Allen happens to be one of the most polarizing QB prospects in a long, long time. He has an elite skill set with a spotty track record. Some people think he’s going to be amazing and some think the exact opposite. What people “think” and what they “want” aren’t the same thing.
  9. You sound like you think the Bills are making a decision between the 2. They aren’t. They made the decision as to who their guy is going to be. It’s 100%, without question, Allen. It may not be week 1 (but it may be) and it will be for a couple of years at least. The question is “does Peterman’s play matter at all to Allen’s timeline?” I don’t think that it does personally. The only thing impacting when Allen plays is Allen.
  10. This is where I’m at with it. He’s a lock IMO. He can do more than the other backs. He’s just better then them (outside of Shady of course).
  11. I think it’s the Browns. They have a more talented roster and a LOT more depth.
  12. This is a wise move. The CB depth is not good. Adding a quality NFL player (even if he has some issues) is a good decision.
  13. I don’t disagree that Allen looks like the best of the group already. That isn’t shocking either. They cleared the deck for him. This question may have made more sense 24 hours ago but taking out our biases it still has some merit IMO. If (not saying that they do) the Bills believe that Peterman gives them the best chance to win now, who plays? I still think it’s Allen.
  14. I don’t necessarily disagree as it’s playing out that way. The point was if the Bills are comfortable with either guy (or McCarron pre-injury) who would start? They might believe that Allen is at a point where he cannot be ruined but Peterman gives them a better chance to win. It’s kind of like the Savage - Watson situation last year. I’m not saying that’s the case but it’s an interesting discussion IMO. What takes priority, winning now, or developing Allen? Those don’t necessarily have to be different but if they are which way do the Bills go?
  15. Tyler Dunne just tweeted it. That was AWFUL.
  16. This discussion has been had in various threads and thought that it may be wise to break it out and attach a poll. I’m of the belief that the play of McCarron and/or Peterman has little to no effect on when Allen plays. In my opinion, he is playing when he’s ready. Hypothetically, as of opening day the Bills believe that Allen is ready to play but Peterman gives them a better chance to win. Who do you think starts?
  17. Nope, it was a blown assignment by the Browns. They broke it down on NFL Total Access this morning. The safety was supposed to roll to that side of the field and didn’t. O’Leary was uncovered.
  18. I never lost my swagger. I said that all 3 played well in PS game 1. Also, said that Allen would start getting 2nd team reps after that game (and he did). The plan is, and has always been, to hand Allen the job when he is ready. He certainly looks ready at this point. Let him run with the ones next week and never look back.
  19. I kind of like your thought process here. Let’s sign another young guy to take some preseason snaps and maybe even be a PS guy. You’ll only have to keep 2 QBs if that’s the case. These guys are cheap options that may have a chance (even a small one).
  20. Well said!! I am okay with Groy and Miller. Mills is decent in the run game. In general though the OL has holes. If I were to rank my OL concerns Dawkins would be last. It would look like this: - Vlad - Mills - Miller - Groy - Dawkins
