  1. They start at $1600 or $1700 (depending on a 1 or 3 year term) & go up to about $3k.
  2. One of my best friends is the COO!! I tried to talk him out of it. There’s some uncertainty where he is now but I don’t think that the arena league is more stable. These leagues are all worthless. I’m just hoping his check clears.
  3. Sure there would because of the revenue associated with it. The NFL makes TONS of money on preseason games. They have no problem throwing out the bottom of the roster for the money that it brings in. They would certainly have no interest in exposing them to that without $$. It’s all risk and minimal reward for NFL teams.
  4. 100% agree Thats my point. My buddy was the same way and has a ring and a Super Bowl loss. He stuck 6 or 7 years there for that reason. He ended up in Jacksonville and Cleveland after and didn’t stick. Those teams were terrible but wanted cheaper, young guys than a 31 year-Old JAG. The Bills have played in one playoff game in forever. They don’t need JAGs imo. They need to roll the dice and try to hit some home runs. They may have done that with Wallace and Foster. They took talented guys and gave them the chance.
  5. I’m not sure but I’d guess it has something to do with the CBA. We always charged full price for the preseason because it was extra revenue. The reality is that people get all pissy when they pay full price for the preseason. The reality is, if your preseason games were less your regular season pricing would be higher. There are revenue targets that every team is going to achieve. The pricing on the tickets is merely a placeholder. Your example is basically what would happen. If it is $80 * 10 games or $100 * 8 it ends up at the same place.
  6. There is certainly something to be said for Hogan’s intelligence and toughness. That’s why he fits in New England. That doesn’t change the fact that he doesn’t get separation and has been the same guy his whole career. He is an okay, back of the depth chart option. He plays more in New England because their receivers stink (outside of Edelman). That’s why they rolled the dice on Gordon. Maybe I do overrate physical ability but that’s how you end up with guys like Foster. He was a 5-star that was a part-time player at Alabama. He was part-time because of the other talent. He still has that raw physical ability. He easily could have been nothing but he also could easily, consistently, be 1,000 yard receiver. I’d keep cycling through guys until I found guys with that potential. In in terms of Lockett he was an All-American at K-State. His dad played in the league (at a high level). He’s a technician, with a pedigree and production. He was a relatively safe pick for all of those reasons. Again, I know I’m on a bit of an island here but it’s what I believe. I’d have never signed a guy like Vlad Ducasse because I knew who he was. I would keep throwing rocks at the Wyatt Teller’s of the world in hopes of finding a player. If not you can always get a Vlad off the street.
  7. He has a better resume. We are in agreement. My point is that a zillion guys could have produced his resume given his opportunity. He’s a total JAG that is a product of opportunity. I argued in that thread, and have in a million others that I will ALWAYS take talent at the bottom of my roster. You can cycle through guys until one hits. I’d never protect guys that are going to be 2 catch a game guys. I can find guys on the street like that all day long. I’ll take the guys with the physical skills and hope that they hit. Once in a while you get Jason Peters but normally you get Mike Jasper. I’d take 1 Jason Peters and 5 Mike Jaspers over 6 Andre Holmes’. Hogan’s 35 catches a year aren’t changing my mind on that. I said that 5 years ago (or whenever it was) and still believe that now.
  8. That does nothing for me. My buddy started on multiple Super Bowl teams and he sits in a cubicle now. He’s not good. Hogan’s heroes will take him to the grave. The reality is he an absolute JAG that catches 2 balls a game. He’s a product of opportunity (and intelligence). A lot of guys could have produced his career with his opportunity.
  9. The weird thing is that’s been an option in basketball for a long-time and hasn’t put a dent in the game. At the same time basketball players only have to stay a year at this point. Maybe if it was like football and 3 years we’d see more players go the LaMelo Ball, Brandon Jennings route? I just don’t see them ever getting the top guys. Even if they get a guy like Tua or Trevor Lawrence the Birmingham Irons don’t have the same rabid following as Alabama or Clemson. That’s how these guys become an entity. They become and entity by people knowing them and caring about them. Zion is going to be filthy rich in a couple of months. He’s a brand now. That wouldn’t be the same if he was playing for the Maine Red Claws instead of the Duke Blue Devils.
  10. And risk catastrophic injury? I don’t see it but that’s the only prayer of seeing year 2.
  11. That’s the league with Brady’s agent? That’s at least a novel idea but it has no prayer. The Big 10 Media Deal is worth $2.64B over 6 years. How can some minor league EVER compete with that? These minor leagues generate 1/1000th of a percent. It’s just never going to happen. I’d bet every dime that I have that all of these league’s fail. In 3-5 years some other former league exec will start the next one, rinse, wash, repeat. Not a replacement and not within 37,000,000,000 miles are not the same though. It’s like saying, “I’m not Josh Allen’s replacement, yet.” I never will be and none of these leagues will ever touch college sports (or come within 37,000,000,000 miles). International ale is a chance at a functioning minor league (and that’s already failed a few times).
  12. Is it though? The guy catches 35 balls a year. He’s firmly an NFL player at this point but he’s no different than a lot of guys (like Foster) that almost never got an opportunity. He was given an opportunity and end up being a functioning back of the depth chart WR. He’s the Trevor Siemian of wide receivers. At the same time, Hogan produced the same in Buffalo as he did in New England. He is a smart guy and a good blocker. He gets no separation (at all) and is just okay because of it. He had 6 targets and as many catches as me on Sunday. He just isn’t any good. He’s Andre Holmes without the ST ability.
  13. Honestly in a lot of ways I feel emboldened by that at the moment. Hogan has been the product of opportunity. He’s just like any other bottom of the roster scrub. He has averaged 2.2 catches per game in his career and less than 30 yards. I firmly believe, given the same opportunity, Rogers would have had a better career. I don’t really want to head down that road again but I will take talent 100% of the time. You can throw a rock and find a Chris Hogan. Robert Foster is WAY better and he was an undrafted rookie.
  14. That’s not any better. We had the reigning league MVP in for a workout this offseason and no one even noticed. The reality is is minor league football will never exist in North America. College Football is WAY too big. You can try to jumpstart some international interest like what happened in basketball 30 years ago. It has created solid leagues around the world. Way too much of an injury risk in football to expose your prospects to extra games. This is the league where washed up guys will shoot for one more shot at glory. I am just hoping that Freddie Jackson and Boobie Dixon stay away!!
  15. I just don’t see it. It will never compete with college football or the NFL. Coaches will always have had some level of success in one of those 2 levels before getting elevated. It will be a haven for washed up coaches and players. NFL teams will take their shots still on “needs seasoning” guys and will either keep them or PS the. This holds especially true with the expanded PS. This league, like all minor league football, will inevitably fail.
  16. To me, it is 2 different questions. Goff is overrated because he isn’t very good. McVay is better at his job than Goff is at his. With that being said, McVay was a bigger problem in the Super Bowl than Goff.
  17. No, PEDelman has no business in the HOF. He doesn’t even belong on the crowd. He’s a good player and a reliable target.
  18. Not sure how much any of you were following the “Boycott Bowl” Festivities but...
  19. It’s an interesting question. I’ll say no because I think that they would have encountered more resistance (and more road playoff games) if they would have been trudging through the AFC North. They would still be great (and all-time great) I’m just not sure it would be 6 Super Bowl wins and 9 appearances great.
  20. That guy left forever that day!!
  21. You were an EJ guy and making my point. It’s amazing the guy says “I have nothing but love for Buffalo” and that set some people here OFF!! It’s crazy. He was a decent QB that helped the team and moved on when it was time. No one should have issues but some do...
  22. It’s funny, that the people that wanted EJ to win the QB battle have never come to terms that Tyrod was absolutely the best option at the time. He delivered a winning record as the Bills QB and ended the drought. He handled himself with class the entire time. Tyrod is a guy that we should remember fondly. He was a decent QB that didn’t lose games.
