  1. I was at a bar in Texas watching the game with about 30 other Bills fans...on the play where Fitz missed the wide open Chandler, the lunatic guy-fan in our group (always the loudest, got booted once while we were watching a Sabres game, for being too loud), slams his fist on the table and yells "Fitzpatrick you suck!!", very loudly...some people chuckled, but there was a kind of uncomfortable feeling in the room for a second or two... then, a few drives later, Bills were lined up in a formation where they had all their receivers bunched together on the line, to his left...Fitz snaps the ball, looks to his right, and IIRC, has to throw the ball away... they show the replay, and it looks like TJ Graham is wide open on the left side...the announcer says "Fitzpatrick obviously saw something he didn't like on that play"....as if on cue, lunatic fan yells out "yeah..he saw a freakin' wide open reciever!!!" Everyone laughed... then the Bills started running away with it...everyone was happy...everyone loved Fitz!
  2. I don't completely disagree with Promo...the NFL is not a very sentimental business....but I am sick of fans being blamed for the eventual demise... the notion that Ralph Wilson's role in this whole thing is inconsequential is maddening.
  3. Funny...when he got knocked out to that playoff game two years ago, the rap on him was "he doesn't care enough", he seems "blase", yadda, yadda yadda....so, last night, he chews out his linemen, and the same talking heads who were crucifying him before are yacking about his "attitude" and "lack of leadership". If that was Peyton Manning, Brady, or a half dozen other guys, they would be extolling his virtues as a "leader of men". He is not at the level of Manning, Brady, Brees, etc, but anyone who thinks he isn't significantly better than Ryan Fitzpatrick is really not living in the real world, or is just a true homer. Cutler threw a bad pick last night, in what was desperation time, during a game where he was getting the crap kicked out of him. Nobody has ever seen this happen before from one of the elites?
  4. If the guy in your league will do it, I woud say do it in a heartbeat. Even if you didn't already have Arian Foster, I like all your running backs (except Green) better than all of the other guys running backs...except Freddie. Sure, you are gambling a litte that Fred comes back in 3 or 4 weeks, and there is no residual affect from his injury....small risk, large reward if you ask me!
  5. #54- Chris Spielman...not even necessarily my favorite Bill, but I found it used, and I look awesome in it...the older jerseys fit us bigger guys a lot better! Or #24- Terene McGee- the only guy currently on the team (just barely according to some!) who I have a jersey of...the pukey TD era style... #83- Lee Evans- probably my favortie Bill in the last 10 years
  6. My god...you guys are always on top of everything!
  7. Right! Some teams opted for the more subtle collar change, but the one that the Bills, Broncos, etc etc have looks almost like one of those silly tuxedo shirts...or like they should have a bow-tie printed on the front. Who, in the NFL, approved these hideous things? I haven't purchased a new jersey (was seriously considering it) but I can't buy one of those. When they show them up close, say, when a player is being interviewed, they just look like something was torn off their jersey collar..awful look. Too bad, cuz other than that detail, love the Bills "new" uniforms.
  8. Guy has missed 7 games in 6 years...granted, three of them last year. He is saying he will play tonight, but the Packers may not risk anything with him...get the sense if it was a "must" game for the Pack, he would play. I don't know if that qualifies him as injury prone. I would take a shot at getting him...29 isn't that old. Our only other options are getting guys who are on their "last stand" at a bargain price (Plax, TO, etc etc) or guys that haven't been able to stick with an NFL team. At some point, if the Bills want to take that next step, they might have to pursue a guy with another 4 or 5 good years in him, instead of nobodys or has-beens. They made a bold move to acquire Mario Williams to address a huge, ongoing need, WR seems like another one of those kinds of needs...I am not saying I all in on this, but I wouldn't dismiss the notion, just because the guy might have to get paid. That is to me, respectfully, the attitude that the Bills, for too long, have passed off to fans (some buy in, some don't)...time for a fresh approach.
  9. To me, the most disappointing thing about the loss was not the loss itself, but the fact that the Bills, for the first half especially, looked as though they had overslept, forgot that the "real season" starts today. I put that on Chan. That being said, every season, the first 2-3 weeks, there are game results, and player performances that are in no way indicative of how the team/player ends up their season. I am not ready to pull the plug on this season over an opening day loss...now, if we see this for another 4 or 5 weeks, then I am reaching for the plug. But, I have been following this team for 40+ years, I am not going to stop now...
  10. I love the game, and that damn team (or the concept of the Buffalo Bills NFL franchise) too much to get suicidal after one loss, albeit and awful one....I have my concerns and doubts like anyone would, if they were objective...but I take some solace in the fact that we were one decent QB performance away from playing a good game...defense will still come around...honestly, I didn't have the Jets in NJ penciled in as one of my 8 wins for the season. I would feel better if they had lost 31-27 or something like that...but when it comes down to it, a loss is a loss, no matter what the final score is. I expect a much, much, much better performance against the Chiefs on Sunday...can't wait!
  11. Foster Brooks? Is that you?
  12. I hate to say it, but I agree with Mike Schopp. The Bills weren't in great shape during the Donohue years, but they were significantly worse after his firing. You might say, they had one rudder in the ocean with TD...none after he was fired. Still willing to give Buddy some more time. http://wgr550.com/SCHOPP--The-harsh-reality-is-looming/14209425
  13. Somewhere between what Eastbrook wrote, and what Promo says is the truth....season isn't over after one game, though that one game didn't look/feel very good. I will say this, though: Every NFL season, the first two weeks there are always game results, and player performances that are in no way indicative with the way the rest of the season pans out...hopefully, the Bills/Jets result is one of those. Also, the Bills may not be ready for the playoffs yet (I never thought they were, and I think way too much is made of the Mario/Anderson signings), but I think they are better than what they showed this past Sunday. I suspect the level of play, win or lose, will be much higher the rest of the season, with a few of these stinkers sprinkled in. The WR situation is pretty scary, particularly if Fitz plays the way he played on Sunday.... my guess is, he has some much better games along the way...with a few of these stinkers sprinkled in...a work in progress this team is.
  14. Bonnies is a Bills bar, Park Slope, allows kids, and has great wings!
  15. C'mon..is there an issue that Mitt hasn't flip-flopped on in all of this years of running for office/offices. To pretend he has all of this virtue, while his oppenant is somehow different, is, as you always love to say is being "intellectually dishonest".
  16. At this point, as clihe as it may sound, bringing in somebody like Plaxico Burress, or, dare I say it, T.O. is the only addition they can make that might help them out this year. I just hate the feeling that one week into the season, we are already in desperation mode...I mean who would have thunk you could lose a WR and a RB in the same game? Who, I ask...who?
  17. No, not advocating cutting Brad Smith. It just seems at some point, they are going to have to address the receiver spot.
  18. Losing to the Jets this past week is not a panic alarm thing for me, though I am not enthralled with the way we lost. Watching all the prime-time games this past week is what is most depressing to me. Other than the Bengals getting smoked last night, and the Raiders having offensive woes (hurting at WR like us) it still looks like the Bills are a ways away from taking that next step. I do believe the defense will get considerably better, but the offense really worries me. It seems like this past Sunday exposed every weakness the offense has...poor QB play, lack of WR talent, and, for me, some puzzling play calling. CJ Spiller and the O-line seem to be the only positives...but Chan doesn't seem to be content to run the ball. Every time I think "surely, Chan will see that we have to run the ball", he seems to double down on putting the game on Fitz weak shoulders. It is kind of frustrating...go with what works, not with what you want to work. Did anyone catch the "sights and sounds of Week 1" on halftime of the first MNF last night? There was a snippet of Spiller, on the sideline, rather empahatically saying "They CAN"T stop me from running!" In the second half, after Fitz pick-6 to open the half, I think the odds were better of Spiller breaking a 60 yard run, than Fitz connecting on a 60 yard reception.
  19. I think everyone gets the numbers thing...but the Bills decision to go with 4 wideouts on Sunday didn't work out so well...and now they are going with 4 again, and one apparenlty is "not ready" for the NFL... they dressed Dorin Dickerson last week, and I am not even sure if he even stepped on the field..maybe he did, but he certainly wasn't noticeable. Unless they plan on using Dickerson as a receiver some (wouldn't last week have been ideal for that?), why have two fullbacks dressed? Just seems this would be the ideal time to not only accellerate TJ Grahams development, but Marcus Easley as well.
  20. Spiller may be the best running back and wide receiver on the roster!
  21. So is Marcus Easley "not ready" either?
  22. Agree with BuffOrange... the only RB that Shananhan has ever hitched his post to, full time, was Terrell Davis, almost 15 years ago....Morris had a nice game on Sunday, so now you can expect Evan Royster to get most of the carries this coming Sunday.
